Captain Xavier, Your Wife Has Signed the Divorce Papers

Wren Wynter held her phone, a warm feeling spreading through her as she listened to Grace Wynter’s gentle voice on the other end of the line.

"Aunt, you said you had a favor to ask of me?" Wren Wynter asked. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

Grace Wynter fell silent for a moment, her voice laced with a complex mix of emotions. "Wren, I never imagined you were Elder Hawthorne’s student. If I’d known sooner, perhaps... Ah, never mind."

Wren Wynter sensed that Grace Wynter was struggling with something she couldn’t say. ’Is this about my uncle?’

"I only ask one thing of you." Grace Wynter paused, her tone growing serious. "Wren, you must help me stop Finn. Don’t let him go looking for his father."

Wren Wynter froze. She turned to glance at Finn Wynter, who was standing not far away, his head bowed as he looked at his phone. He didn’t seem to have noticed her conversation.

"Aunt, are you saying... I should stop Finn from looking for Uncle?" Wren Wynter asked in a hushed voice.

"Don’t call him ’Uncle’! He doesn’t deserve it!" Grace Wynter’s shrill voice came from the other end. She seemed to realize her outburst, taking a deep breath to compose herself before continuing, "Wren, I’m sorry. I lost my composure. I just... I just..."

"Aunt, I understand. Please, go on."

’Even though I don’t know what that man did to hurt Aunt, she must have her reasons for acting this way.’

"That man doesn’t deserve to be Finn’s father! He’s nothing but an animal!"

Listening to Grace Wynter’s agitated tone, Wren Wynter felt a little uneasy.

She reassured her in a low voice, "Aunt, please calm down. Finn... he doesn’t seem to be thinking about it right now. Earlier at Moonwater Villa, Elder Hawthorne mentioned my uncle, and Finn said you’d never spoken of the man and he just assumed he was dead."

The other end of the line went silent for a few seconds, followed by the sound of Grace Wynter’s suppressed sobs. Wren Wynter’s heart tightened, and she quickly asked, "Aunt, what’s wrong? Please don’t cry."

Grace Wynter took a deep breath, trying to compose herself. "Wren, I’m fine. It’s just... hearing you say Finn isn’t thinking about it makes me feel a little better.

Grace Wynter seemed to realize she had lost control of her emotions again. She took a few deep breaths, and her voice softened once more. "Wren, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have taken my anger out on you. It’s just that person... I really don’t want to talk about him."

"Aunt, you don’t have to apologize," Wren Wynter said softly. "Don’t worry, I’ll keep an eye on Finn for you. If he does get any ideas, I’ll let you know immediately."

They chatted for a few more moments. Grace Wynter reminded Wren Wynter to take care of herself, and then they hung up.

Wren Wynter clutched her phone, staring at the two words on the screen: "Call Ended." Her heart wouldn’t quiet down. She had no idea what had happened all those years ago to make Grace Wynter hate that man so much that she couldn’t even bear to mention him.

’But that was her aunt’s scar, and she didn’t want to be the one to pick at it.’

"Wren, what’s wrong?" Finn Wynter walked over. Seeing the look on her face, he asked with a frown.

Wren Wynter came to her senses and shook her head. "It’s nothing. That was my aunt. She said she missed me."

Finn Wynter nodded and didn’t press the matter.

Just then, Leif Shaw emerged from the lab holding a report, his expression grave. He walked quickly over to Wren Wynter and handed the report to her.

"Wren, the results are in." Leif Shaw’s voice was a little low. "The DNA comparison shows that the deceased is, in fact, Tina Wallace."

Wren Wynter took the report and carefully read the data and conclusions. Although she had been prepared for this, her heart still gave a hard thump when she saw the conclusive evidence.

"Thanks for this, Leif." Wren Wynter looked up at Leif Shaw. "This confirms it. The so-called ’Tina Wallace’ right now is actually Seraphina Sutton."

Leif Shaw frowned. "Wren, what are you saying? Tina Wallace is at the Wallace home right now? That’s impossible. The dead can’t be brought back to life. If the deceased is Tina Wallace, then the one at the Wallace home is..."

"That would be Seraphina Sutton," Wren Wynter said decisively. "I speculated before that Seraphina Sutton had likely assumed Tina Wallace’s identity. I just didn’t have any proof back then. Now I do."

She took her phone out of her bag, pulled up a video, and handed it to Leif Shaw.

Leif Shaw took the phone and started watching the video.

The video showed surveillance footage from a few days ago. In the clip, Tina Wallace appeared at the entrance of a detention center. After completing the bail procedures, she left with Seraphina Sutton.

The entire process was clearly visible, and Tina Wallace’s face was completely uncovered in the footage.

"This is the surveillance video of Tina Wallace bailing out Seraphina Sutton," Wren Wynter said, pointing at the screen.

Leif Shaw watched the video closely, his brow furrowing deeper and deeper. He watched it several times before looking up at Wren Wynter. "Are you saying this ’Tina Wallace’ is Seraphina Sutton in disguise?"

"Exactly," Wren Wynter nodded. "Seraphina Sutton and Tina Wallace have similar builds. If she intentionally mimicked her, it would be easy to fool people. When the Wallaces came to the company to cause a scene, they said Tina Wallace was missing. The time of her disappearance basically lines up with when Seraphina Sutton was bailed out. I suspect Seraphina Sutton killed Tina Wallace, then assumed her identity and is now hiding out at the Wallace home."

Leif Shaw sucked in a sharp breath. "If that’s really what happened, then that woman, Seraphina Sutton, is terrifying."

Wren Wynter clutched the lab report in her hand. "Now we have concrete proof that the deceased is Tina Wallace. I’m going to the Wallaces’ to expose Seraphina Sutton."

Finn Wynter stepped forward. "I’ll go with you."

Wren Wynter shook her head. "Finn, it’s better if I handle this alone. You can wait outside for me. I’ll call you if I need you."

Finn Wynter glanced at her, then finally nodded. "Alright. Be careful."

Holding the lab report, Wren Wynter hailed a cab and headed for the Wallace residence.

The Wallaces’ villa was located in an upscale residential area in Esterlyn. It was a three-story, European-style building with an exquisite garden out front. Wren Wynter rang the doorbell, and a moment later, a maid came to open the door.

"Hello, I’m here to see Mr. and Mrs. Wallace," Wren Wynter said.

The maid looked her up and down. "And you are...?"

"My name is Wren Wynter. I have something very important to discuss with them."

The maid hesitated for a moment but let her in anyway.

In the living room, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace were sitting on the sofa drinking tea. When Mrs. Wallace saw Wren Wynter enter, her expression immediately darkened.

"What are you doing here?" Mrs. Wallace asked coldly. "You’re not welcome in our home."

Wren Wynter took a deep breath, walked over to them, and held out the lab report in her hand. "Mr. Wallace, Mrs. Wallace, I came today because there is something extremely important that I need to tell you."

Mr. Wallace took the report and began to read it. Mrs. Wallace leaned in, and they looked at the document together. The expressions on their faces shifted from cold indifference to confusion, and then from confusion to shock.

"What is the meaning of this?" Mr. Wallace looked up, his gaze sharp as he stared at Wren Wynter. "Are you saying my daughter is dead?"
