Captain Xavier, Your Wife Has Signed the Divorce Papers

Wren Wynter hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Okay."

They walked slowly along the coastline, the moonlight paving a silver path across the sea’s surface.

Wren Wynter stole a sideways glance at Shaun Quinn. His short, silver-white hair held a faint sheen under the moonlight.

Paired with the beauty mark at the corner of his eye, he exuded an almost surreal beauty.

"Had your fill?" Shaun Quinn didn’t turn his head, but he knew Wren was looking at him.

Wren Wynter hastily averted her gaze. "I remember when we were kids, everyone thought your hair color was weird, so they didn’t really like to play with you."

She quickly changed the subject to hide her embarrassment.

Shaun Quinn said lightly, "As a kid, I was treated like an outcast because of it. You were the only one who followed me around every day like a little shadow."

Wren Wynter froze for a moment, surprised that he would bring it up himself, and then she smiled.

"Well, I always thought it looked nice. Maybe my taste is just a little unique."

"You and him... how are things?"

Wren Wynter faltered slightly, knowing who Shaun Quinn meant by "him."

She lowered her gaze, watching her footprints on the sand get washed away again and again by the waves, and spoke softly.

"We’re divorced."

"Good. He dragged you down for three years. It was time to cut your losses."

Shaun Quinn’s voice was so soft it was nearly carried away by the sea breeze. "Life is short. You shouldn’t be tied down by someone who isn’t worth it."

Wren Wynter looked up at him to find him gazing into the distance, his profile impossibly handsome in the moonlight.

"Senior," Wren Wynter mustered her courage and asked, "why did you choose to study medicine?"

Shaun Quinn turned his head. "Why do you ask?"

"Just curious," Wren Wynter said honestly. "It’s fine if you don’t want to talk about it."

The corner of Shaun Quinn’s eye lifted in a slight smile. "No special reason. I was sent to study with our teacher when I was young, so I studied medicine."

His words were laden with meaning, and just as Wren was about to ask more, a huge wave suddenly crashed onto the beach.

Caught off guard, Wren was knocked off balance by the wave and was about to fall.

A strong arm wrapped around her waist just in time, pulling her securely into an embrace.

Still shaken, Wren Wynter looked up and met Shaun Quinn’s deep eyes.

They were so close she could smell the scent of disinfectant on him mixed with the sea breeze, see the beauty mark at the corner of his eye, and even feel the beat of his heart against his chest.

"Careful." Shaun Quinn’s voice held little emotion.

Wren quickly steadied herself and stepped back from his embrace. "Thank you."

Shaun Quinn withdrew his hand, his expression returning to its usual indifference, but Wren noticed the tips of his ears were slightly red.

"You two!"

A cheerful voice broke the intimate atmosphere.

A young man holding a camera ran over and said in an Italian-accented English, "That was such a beautiful scene! The moonlight, the waves, the embracing lovers... I took a picture of you two!"

Wren Wynter froze, realizing the photographer had misunderstood their relationship, and hurriedly tried to explain, "No, we’re not—"

"Let me see," Shaun Quinn interrupted her.

Wren looked at him in surprise.

Shaun Quinn didn’t look back at her. "If you please," he said to the photographer.

The photographer looked excitedly at his camera’s screen. "You two make a really well-matched couple!"

"Thank you, but we’re just like brother and sister," Shaun Quinn said, handing the photographer a banknote. "We’ll keep the picture, so there’s no need to print it."

The photographer took the money and blinked in sudden understanding. "Ah, I get it! My apologies!"

"It’s getting late," Shaun Quinn said, looking at his watch. "We have an itinerary tomorrow. I’ll walk you back to your room."

Wren Wynter nodded. "Senior, the picture, give it to me!"

"I’ll keep it as a memento for our teacher." Shaun Quinn’s lowered lashes hid the darkness in his eyes.

"Okay!" Wren didn’t suspect a thing.

After all, their teacher did have a hobby of collecting photos of them from different periods of their lives.

The two walked slowly back along the beach.

「The Capital, Grant Villa.」

Kaden Xavier stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window.

Only a single floor lamp was on in the living room, its dim light casting his tall shadow onto the wall.

He called Wren Wynter, only to find he’d been blocked.

In reality, if he just had someone look into it, he could easily find out where she’d gone.

But he was confident.

Confident that Wren Wynter loved him more than anything, that she couldn’t bear to leave him.

But...

After a long silence, he dialed his assistant’s number. "Did you find her?"

Assistant Lynch’s cautious voice came from the other end of the line. "Mr. Xavier, yes. Your wife is at the Nash Family’s home."

Kaden Xavier gripped his phone tightly.

’Just as I expected.’

The only people who would dare to hide his wife were Crystal Nash and Hugh Hale.

He hung up, planning to pay a visit to the Nash Family the next day.

If news that Mrs. Xavier had left home got out, it would definitely affect the company’s image and its stock price.

Once Seraphina Sutton and Asher Lynch’s child was born safely, he would fulfill his promise and give Seraphina one percent of the company’s shares, plus the apartment in Moonwater Bay.

That would be enough for a widow and her orphan for the rest of their lives.

The next morning, Kaden Xavier went straight to the Nash residence.

Crystal Nash opened the door, and her expression immediately turned cold when she saw him. "Kaden Xavier? What are you doing here?"

"Where is Wren?" Kaden Xavier asked, getting straight to the point. His voice was hoarse from a sleepless night.

Crystal Nash crossed her arms, leaned against the doorframe, and sneered, "What? Now you decide to look for her? Where were you when she needed you?"

"Don’t make me repeat myself." A chill flashed in Kaden Xavier’s eyes as his imposing aura flared. "I want to see her."

"See her?" Crystal Nash raised an eyebrow. "What right do you have to see her? Haven’t you hurt her enough?"

Kaden Xavier’s face darkened, the sharp glint in his eyes obvious. "This is between her and me. It has nothing to do with you. Tell me where she is."

"She’s not here." Crystal Nash was completely unafraid, saying coldly, "Besides, she doesn’t want to see you. Kaden Xavier, if you’re any kind of man, you’ll let her go."

"Crystal Nash, don’t think I won’t touch you just because you have Hugh Hale. I’ll ask one last time: where is she?"

Kaden Xavier narrowed his eyes, his handsome face terrifyingly dark. His deep, cold voice was laced with frost, heavy with pressure.
