Just as the atmosphere grew lively, Crystal Nash and Joy Lee hurried over.

"Wren, congratulations!"

Joy Lee immediately enveloped Wren in a huge bear hug. "You’re so amazing! When my brother told me about it, my jaw nearly hit the floor!"

Crystal Nash added with a smile, "It’s true. The entire upper echelon of Corvidale is talking about you, the miracle doctor. Elder Hawthorne is truly fortunate to have a student like you."

As they were talking and laughing, a man in a suit hurried in and walked straight up to Wren Wynter.

It was Arthur.

The composed smile was gone from his face, replaced by a hint of anxiety and panic.

"Dr. Wynter, please, come with me somewhere," he said, lowering his voice, his tone pleading.

Wren Wynter frowned. "I don’t know you well."

"I know."

Beads of sweat formed on Arthur’s forehead. "It’s about Tina Wallace. Do you want to know?"

"Why should I believe you?"

Arthur spoke extremely quickly. "I don’t think you’ll regret finding out what I know."

Everyone around them heard this, and their expressions changed drastically.

"Junior Sister, you can’t go! It’s definitely a trap!"

Ho-ran Park was the first to object.

"Right. If you run into danger, it’ll be too late to call the police," Leif Shaw said, his face grim.

"So, think carefully. My interest in playing the busybody is a fleeting thing."

Arthur’s lips curled into a smirk. "Besides, haven’t you already started to suspect something’s wrong?"

Wren Wynter’s thoughts were in turmoil.

She glanced out the window. The sky was gradually darkening.

"Fine. I’ll go with you."

Wren Wynter followed Arthur into an alley.

"Was there something you couldn’t say back there? Why did we have to come here?"

"Dr. Sutton, there’s a reason we came here. What we’re about to discuss absolutely cannot be spread. And haven’t you been curious—no, I should say, suspicious—of Tina Wallace?"

Arthur’s words stung her again.

’She really did want to figure out what was going on with Tina Wallace.’

"If you have something to say, say it. My time is precious."

"Now, now, don’t be in such a hurry."

"I’m about to tell you."

The moment he finished speaking, Wren Wynter felt a sharp pain on the back of her neck. Her vision went black, and she lost consciousness completely.

In the last second before she passed out, she thought she smelled a familiar scent.

It was ethanol.

When Wren Wynter woke up again, she found herself already tied up in a sealed room.

The room looked like it was in some kind of hotel, but the decor was very simple. It probably wasn’t a legitimate establishment.

Wren Wynter was blindfolded and her entire body was bound. Arthur noticed she was awake, slowly approached, and ripped the blindfold from her eyes.

"Dr. Wynter, you’re really something else."

"You bitch. Acting all high and mighty, playing the saint all day. We’ll see how you act now."

"I finally got you. I can’t believe how easy you were to fool. And those three senior brothers of yours are idiots, too."

Arthur spoke in less-than-fluent Mandarin, the corner of his mouth curling into a triumphant smirk.

Wren Wynter’s brow slowly furrowed. ’It really was a trap.’ "What do you gain from kidnapping me?"

"Do I need to gain anything? I’m just getting my dignity back. You idiot, you’re still completely in the dark. Tina Wallace was never a good person, not from the very beginning."

"You were the only one stupid enough to actually feel guilty about it."

Arthur closed in, step by step, and grabbed her collar tightly. "I wonder what a woman Mr. Xavier has played with tastes like."

"Let me go!"

Wren Wynter had already sensed something was wrong. "You’re working with Tina Wallace?"

Arthur looked down and let out a snort of laughter. "Of course."

Just then, the door was suddenly kicked open from the outside. A look of panic flashed across Arthur’s face. He thought his plan was seamless, that he’d found such a remote hotel.

When he saw that it was Tina Wallace, his expression instantly turned to rage.

"Well, if it isn’t the other bitch. Didn’t expect you to get here so fast. What, did you have people keeping tabs on this idiot doctor?"

Tina Wallace rushed in, her face cold. "Arthur, what are you doing?! Let her go! What you’re doing is illegal! Even with your foreign citizenship, you can’t escape the law!"

"Illegal? So what? As if what you’ve done isn’t illegal? You people from this country are really something else. It’s quite a show watching you dogs tear each other apart."

"Weren’t you the one who ordered me to get close to Dr. Wynter in the first place?"

"I did the job, but you didn’t give me the pay I deserved. That’s on you for being unethical. So don’t blame me for taking us both down."

Arthur’s gaze turned vicious. Every single word reached Wren Wynter’s ears. She looked at Tina Wallace in disbelief, her eyes filled with wariness.

Exposed, Tina Wallace was clearly flustered. "Don’t listen to his nonsense! I did all of this to be your friend!"

Arthur burst out laughing again, verging on a state of madness. "Be your friend? What’s the act? This isn’t a stage."
