Captain Xavier, Your Wife Has Signed the Divorce Papers

"Nathaniel, Kaden and I have had a bit of a misunderstanding. I want to explain it to him in person, but he refuses to see me."

Seraphina Sutton’s voice was frail, with a hint of a sob.

"Can you take me to see him? I want to explain it to him myself."

Nathaniel Quinn mulled it over. "But he might not do it just for my sake."

"But it’s truly a misunderstanding. Whenever I think about it, my stomach feels upset and my heart aches. Nathaniel, I’m begging you, please help me, won’t you?" Seraphina Sutton choked out, her eyes red.

Nathaniel Quinn let out a long sigh.

’Seraphina Sutton had always been on good terms with their group. He had no idea what happened to make Cole refuse to see her.’

"Fine, I promise. Seraphina, don’t worry. I’ll make sure you and Cole make up. I definitely won’t let you suffer like this."

"Thank you, Nathaniel. You’re the best. You’re the only one who treats me with all your heart."

"What are you talking about? Cole is good to you, and so is Asher. Which one of us hasn’t treated you well?"

"You’re right. I misspoke."

Satisfied, Seraphina Sutton hung up the phone.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Wren Wynter had just walked out of the operating room.

Mason Shaw smiled at Wren Wynter. "Dr. Wynter, congratulations. The surgery was a great success."

"Thank you, Dr. Shaw," Wren Wynter said sincerely. "And thank you for the advice you gave me. It was a huge help."

"It was nothing," Mason Shaw said, looking at her. "But Dr. Wynter, don’t you owe me a meal? We said we’d celebrate last time."

Wren Wynter remembered how Kaden Xavier had interrupted them yesterday and felt a little awkward. "Alright, what would you like to eat, Dr. Shaw? My treat."

"I’m just kidding," Mason Shaw laughed. "You just finished a long surgery, so you must be tired. Go home and get some rest. We can figure out dinner some other time."

Wren Wynter was indeed exhausted, so she didn’t object. "Some other time, then. Well, Dr. Shaw, I’ll be leaving now."

"Alright. Be safe."

As Kaden Xavier sat in the car on the way back to the office, his mind was filled with the image of Wren Wynter’s focused profile in the operating room.

She had been completely engrossed, her hands steady without the slightest tremor.

Those complex and delicate procedures unfolded under her hands with a fluid grace.

’So his wife was such a dazzling person all along.’

The car stopped in front of the Xavier Group building. As Kaden Xavier walked in, employees greeted him respectfully along the way.

He nodded, his face impassive, and took the private elevator straight to the penthouse CEO office.

Hugh Hale was already waiting outside the office, having been there for some time, a folder in his hand.

Seeing Kaden Xavier return, he immediately fell in step behind him. "Kaden, the agreement you asked me to draft is ready."

Kaden Xavier pushed open the office door, sat down behind the massive desk, and rubbed the bridge of his nose. "What agreement?"

"The one you instructed me to prepare last time. The agreement regarding Miss Sutton’s postpartum gift and compensation," Hugh Hale said, placing the folder on the desk. "As per your instructions, after Miss Sutton gives birth, you will gift her one percent of Xavier Group’s shares, along with two properties registered under your name."

Kaden Xavier stared at the agreement, carefully reading its contents.

Ever since the incident with the last divorce agreement, he always made a point to be more cautious.

As he read, the image of Wren Wynter’s smile after her successful surgery earlier that day unconsciously surfaced in his mind.

’So genuine, so radiant, yet she had never shown it to him before.’

"Hugh," Kaden Xavier said suddenly, his voice tinged with fatigue, "have you ever seen Wren operate?"

Hugh Hale was taken aback, not understanding why Kaden Xavier would ask such a question.

He shook his head and answered frankly, "No. But Crystal mentions it often. She says Wren was a star at medical school, always ranking first. A lot of her professors praised her as a rare genius."

Kaden Xavier’s long fingers tapped lightly on the desktop. "In college... what was she like?"

Hugh Hale recalled Crystal Nash’s descriptions.

"From what Crystal says, Wren was very quiet at school, but a very diligent student. She practically lived in the library, staying there all day. Her practical skills were amazing—she was always the best in dissection labs. The professors who taught her all praised her steady hands and attention to detail, saying she was born to be a doctor."

"All this..." Kaden Xavier paused. "I never knew any of it."

Hugh Hale pursed his lips and said slowly, "Kaden, speaking as a friend, for people like you and me, marriage is inherently a union of interests. Take that away, and who knows what’s real and what’s not."

"Whether you know these things or not isn’t really important for you two at this stage."

His words were cruel, but they were also realistic.

’At their age, talking about love was just too childish.’

"What about you and Crystal Nash? Is it love or mutual benefit?"

Hugh Hale answered without a hint of hesitation. "Sex and mutual interests."

Their relationship had gotten straight to the point from the very beginning.

That was one of the reasons he had chosen Crystal Nash.

But he never imagined he’d eat his words so quickly.

"If you want to make things right with Wren, it’s not too late. The divorce isn’t final yet."

"But she doesn’t love me anymore." Kaden Xavier’s eyes darkened. "Hugh, she said she doesn’t love me anymore."

Hugh Hale opened his mouth, but he didn’t know what comforting words to offer.

As a bystander, he had a clear view of how Kaden Xavier had neglected Wren Wynter over the past three years.

It was only natural for Wren Wynter’s heart to grow cold.

As an outsider, there was nothing he could say.

A heavy silence fell over the office.

Hugh Hale looked at Kaden Xavier’s weary expression and asked, "Kaden, what about this agreement...?"

"Just leave it for now," Kaden Xavier said, walking to the floor-to-ceiling windows, an aura of desolation around him. "We’ll talk after I’ve had time to think."

"Alright." Hugh Hale collected the folder.

Just then, the office door was pushed open.

Nathaniel Quinn walked in with Seraphina Sutton. The secretary at the door looked distressed. "Mr. Xavier, I couldn’t stop Young Master Quinn..."

Seraphina Sutton was wearing a pale pink dress. She stared at Kaden Xavier, the rims of her eyes red.

"Kaden, I just want to explain. That day at the hospital, I really didn’t mean to..."

"I already told you, there’s no need to explain." Kaden Xavier’s voice grew cold. "What you should be doing right now is resting at home and focusing on your pregnancy, not running all over the place."

"But if I don’t make things clear, I can’t be at peace." Tears streamed down Seraphina Sutton’s face. "Kaden, I know you’ve been in a bad mood lately, and that this business with the divorce from Dr. Wynter has you stressed. But I don’t want to be an obstacle between you two, I really don’t. If my presence is causing a misunderstanding between you, then I..."

She paused, as if she had made a difficult decision. "...then I’m willing to move away, far from both of you, and never show my face again."

Nathaniel Quinn quickly tried to smooth things over. "Cole, look, Seraphina has gone this far. Just let it go. She’s pregnant and her emotions are unstable. She might speak without thinking, but she definitely doesn’t mean any harm."

Watching Seraphina Sutton cry so pitifully, Kaden Xavier felt a wave of irritation.

He ignored Seraphina Sutton, turning his anger on Nathaniel Quinn instead.

"Why did you bring her to the company?" Kaden Xavier’s tone was hostile.
