Captain Xavier, Your Wife Has Signed the Divorce Papers

Wren Wynter and Crystal Nash looked in the direction she pointed.

Inside the exquisitely decorated baby store, Kaden Xavier stood before a shelf, holding a small baby rattle and seemingly examining it.

And beside him...

The sight was a dagger to Wren’s heart, which had only just begun to settle.

’An urgent flight mission?’

Hah.

’So *this* was his urgent mission? Shopping at a baby store with Seraphina Sutton?’

Joy Lynch was so furious she nearly slammed her hand on the table. "Shameless! Vile! That filthy pair!"

Crystal Nash’s expression turned cold as well, her long, slender fingers drumming rapidly on the tabletop.

Wren quickly composed herself. With a blank expression, she pulled out her phone—not to take a picture, but to dial Lawyer Jordon’s number directly.

The call connected almost immediately.

"Lawyer Jordon, it’s me, Wren Wynter."

Wren’s voice was unnervingly calm, her eyes still locked on the couple across the street.

"I’ve changed my mind. I’m not waiting for a settlement. File a lawsuit. Submit the materials today. I want to sue for divorce on the grounds of an irretrievable breakdown of the marriage, my husband’s inappropriate intimacy with another woman, and marital infidelity."

Lawyer Jordon was clearly taken aback, but he recovered quickly.

"Understood, Miss Wynter. Are you certain? Filing a lawsuit will draw out the process..."

"I’m certain."

Wren cut him off. "As for evidence... I’m gathering it as we speak. I’ll send you some photos and a statement of the situation shortly. Please process it as quickly as possible. The cost is not an issue."

After hanging up, Wren raised her phone toward Kaden Xavier and Seraphina Sutton in the baby store across the street and snapped several high-definition photos in quick succession.

The photos showed Seraphina Sutton clinging to Kaden Xavier’s arm. They stood very close, looking intimate as they picked out baby supplies.

Crystal Nash and Joy Lynch watched this series of actions, completely stunned.

"Wren, you..." Joy Lynch said, a little worried.

Wren put her phone away, picked up her lemonade, and took a sip. The cool liquid trickled down her throat.

She looked at her two friends and cracked a frosty smile.

"I’m fine. Since he doesn’t want to be civil about this, then we won’t be. We’ll follow the legal process. I won’t ask for a penny less than what’s mine. And I refuse to endure what I shouldn’t have to for another second."

That same afternoon, Lawyer Jordon quickly prepared the documents and filed Wren Wynter’s divorce petition against Kaden Xavier with the court.

That evening, a weary Kaden Xavier returned to the empty villa.

He had, in fact, deliberately stood Wren up today. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

There had been no urgent flight mission; he just didn’t want to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau and get a divorce.

He was still convinced this was just another one of Wren’s ploys to get his attention.

’She loved him so much. How could she possibly bring herself to divorce him?’

He didn’t understand why Wren couldn’t be more considerate. Why did she always have to compete with Seraphina and be jealous of her over everything?

He had, after all, promised her that the title of Mrs. Xavier would always be hers alone.

He had just taken off his jacket when his phone rang.

It was Hugh Hale.

He answered with a frown. "What is it?"

"Your wife is leaving you."

"What?!"

Kaden didn’t quite process that.

"Wren Wynter filed a lawsuit for divorce!"

At those words, Kaden’s mind went blank with a deafening BUZZ.

’A lawsuit?’

’He’d stood her up this morning, and the divorce petition was already at the courthouse by the afternoon?’

’How dare she?!’

Flames of rage instantly filled his chest, and veins bulged on his forehead.

Kaden’s head throbbed. He grimaced, rubbing the bridge of his nose to suppress the fury rising in his chest.

"I know."

"That’s it? That’s your reaction?"

There was no seriousness in Hugh Hale’s voice, only mockery and schadenfreude.

"What other reaction do you want from me! My wife is suing for divorce, and your fiancée is undoubtedly involved. If Wren really goes through with this, I won’t spare the Nash Family either!"

Kaden slammed his fist into the wall in a rage. A jarring numbness shot up his arm, making his entire body tremble uncontrollably.

He furiously hung up on Hugh Hale and dialed Wren’s number.

It only rang for a few seconds before she picked up.

"Wren, what the hell are you trying to do?"

"I want a divorce," Wren replied, her tone placid.

"Fine. You’ve got some nerve, Wren. You want a divorce? You can have one, but you’ll come and talk to me in person. Otherwise, this divorce isn’t happening!"

"Kaden Xavier, do you still think you get to call all the shots? I’ve already filed. If you don’t show up, the court will proceed with the hearing regardless," Wren said, enunciating every word.

"Are you threatening me?" Kaden’s eyes darkened. "Wren, if you don’t come see me in person, not only will I refuse the divorce, I’ll also sell the villa at Orchard Estate."

Orchard Estate was the only thing Wren had left from her parents.

After the Wynter Family fell, the house was sold to cover their debts. She never expected Kaden to be the one who bought it.

On the other end of the line, Wren felt a sharp pain in her chest, as if being pierced by needles. Her voice grew tight. "Kaden Xavier, you’re shameless!"

Before Kaden could respond, she hung up.

Kaden listened to the dial tone. When he tried calling back, the call wouldn’t connect.

He ran both hands through his hair, pacing back and forth in agitation.

Just then, his phone rang again.

Kaden answered immediately.

"Have you thought things over?"

"Thought what over?"

It was Nathaniel Quinn.

Kaden’s face darkened as he looked at the caller ID on the screen.

He’d thought it was Wren, calling back after coming to her senses.

"Nothing. It’s late. What is it?"

Kaden’s face was grim, and he felt an unprecedented level of agitation.

"Oh, hey, Cole. Wanna come hang out? Seraphina and I are waiting for you at the old spot."

"She’s pregnant. What are you doing taking her to a place like that? Are you insane?!"

Nathaniel Quinn sounded a little sheepish.

Seraphina Sutton snatched the phone from him, and her soft, delicate voice came through the line.

"Kaden, don’t blame Nathaniel. It was my idea to come. I’m just in a bad mood... I suddenly miss Asher so much. I’ve been dreaming about him the past few days. Kaden, can you come keep me company? Please? I just really..."

"Seraphina, don’t cry... Hey, Cole, you’d better get over here. Seraphina’s really not in a good state right now."

Kaden was silent for a moment. Recalling what Hugh Hale had just told him, he spoke with frustration in his voice.

"I know. I’m on my way."

Kaden drove to the club as fast as he could. When he arrived, Seraphina Sutton was leaning on Nathaniel Quinn’s shoulder, sobbing.

When she saw Kaden arrive, she immediately lifted her head. Her innocent features, combined with the tears glistening in her eyes, made her look exceptionally pitiful and alluring.

"Kaden, you’re finally here. I had a dream that Asher was blaming me... blaming me for always bothering you. It’s my fault for constantly disturbing you and Dr. Wynter. I won’t bother you guys anymore."

"Seraphina, why would Asher blame you? You were the person he worried about most before he died. As his brothers, it’s only right for us to take care of you."

"Really?" Tears still clung to the corners of Seraphina’s eyes, but her gaze fell on the area outside the private room.
