The cold floor, the clamor of voices, the countless pairs of accusatory and disdainful eyes—they formed an inescapable net, trapping Wren Wynter firmly in the center.

BANG!

With a tremendous crash, the clinic door was kicked open from the outside.

Kaden Xavier burst in like a winter squall, flanked by two bodyguards in black suits and radiating a terrifying aura.

His eyes immediately found Wren Wynter on the floor and the old woman who was grabbing at her, causing a scene.

In that instant, Kaden Xavier’s gaze was murderous.

"Let her go."

Kaden Xavier completely ignored her. His gaze was fixed solely on Wren Wynter, and when he saw the red scratches on her arm, the chill in his eyes deepened.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

Wren Wynter shook her head, her face a little pale. She steadied herself and looked at the old woman, her voice remaining calm.

"You said I prescribed medication for your husband. May I ask his name? When did he come in for his appointment?"

"I... Why should I tell you!"

The old woman’s eyes darted away, but her belligerence didn’t fade. "It was you, I’m sure of it! All of you people dress the same. If it wasn’t you, it was one of your accomplices!"

"This is a key research project team. All our patients must go through a strict screening and registration process. Every medical record and prescription is filed away."

Ho-ran Park also walked over, his expression grim. "You claim we treated someone to death. In that case, please present the deceased’s identification, the death certificate, and the prescription we supposedly issued."

"If you can’t produce them, then this is slander!"

"My... my old man just died! Where would I find the time to get all that stuff?"

The old woman started acting shamelessly. "I don’t care! If you don’t compensate me today, I’ll die right here!"

With that, she made to sit on the floor again.

"You want to die?"

Kaden Xavier sneered. He turned to Assistant Lynch. "Call the police. Tell them someone is provoking a disturbance, engaging in malicious slander, and attempting extortion here at the hospital."

He then turned to the group of so-called family members, his gaze raking across their faces like a blade.

"And you," he added. "You’re all accomplices, aren’t you? Not a single one of you is getting away."

His stare made their blood run cold. They exchanged glances, already thinking of backing down.

Hearing the police were being called, the old woman panicked but tried to maintain her tough exterior. "Go ahead and call them! Who’s afraid? We’re the victims here!"

"Fine."

A clear, bright female voice came from the doorway.

Everyone turned to see Dean Luna Lee approaching with several hospital security guards and administrators, her expression grave.

"Since you want to call the police, that’s perfect."

Dean Lee walked into the center of the crowd, her sharp gaze fixed on the old woman. "The hospital was just about to call the police as well—to report you for maliciously disrupting public order. Furthermore, we suspect this is a premeditated incident of faking a medical dispute."

She held up a tablet, its screen playing a surveillance video.

"This is the surveillance footage from the hospital entrance. At 7:30 this morning, this lady, and the rest of you, all got out of the same van."

"After getting out, you gathered in a corner, where a woman in a trench coat and a mask gave you an envelope. Only then did you all walk into the hospital together."

Dean Lee’s voice was clear and forceful, and everyone present heard her perfectly.

The faces of the old woman and the "family members" instantly turned deathly pale.

"You... You’re lying! We don’t know each other!"

"You don’t?"

"You’re full of shit!" the old woman shrieked, lunging at the man. "You’re the greedy one!"

The scene once again descended into chaos.

His voice had softened, but it carried a tone that brooked no refusal.

Wren Wynter glanced at him and didn’t object. The recent struggle and fright had indeed left her emotionally and physically drained.

Inside the break room, Leif Shaw was still cursing furiously.

Leo Crowe poured him a glass of water. "Alright, that’s enough. Little Junior Sister is still here."

Wren Wynter lowered her gaze, gently rubbing the water glass in her hands.

She couldn’t think of who else would deliberately target them.

As they were talking, the break room door was pushed open, and Kaden Xavier walked in with Dean Lee.

"Those people confessed."
