Captain Xavier, Your Wife Has Signed the Divorce Papers

Wren truly couldn’t remember anything else.

Damn it.

’Never again will I drink that much.’

Wren Wynter patted her head, got out of bed, and went to freshen up.

By the time she had changed and gone downstairs, Butler Chandler was already preparing breakfast.

"Ah, Miss, you’re awake?" Butler Chandler asked with a smile. "Does your head still hurt? I’ve made some hangover soup. Would you like a bowl?"

"Thank you, Uncle Chandler." Wren Wynter sat down at the dining table. "Last night... was it Kaden Xavier who brought me home?"

"Yes," Butler Chandler said, placing the hangover soup in front of her. "The Young Master carried you home. You were completely passed out by then."

Wren Wynter lowered her head in embarrassment. "I’m sorry to have troubled you."

"Not at all, not at all." Butler Chandler waved his hand. "Oh, by the way, Miss, someone came looking for you this morning. She said she was your aunt."

Wren Wynter froze. "My aunt?"

’Since when did I have an aunt?’

"Are you sure?"

Wren Wynter’s voice was filled with confusion. She had never, in all her years, heard of herself having an aunt.

"Yes. A lady with the surname Wynter. She said she’s your father’s sister."

Butler Chandler continued, "I asked her to wait for you in the living room, but she said she would return this afternoon."

Wren Wynter’s mind was still foggy. She wracked her brain, trying to remember if her father had ever mentioned having a sister.

As far as she could remember, her father had never said he had a sister.

"What... what did she look like?" Wren asked.

"She bears a fair resemblance to your father, especially her eyes."

Butler Chandler added, "At first, I thought I was seeing things, but when I looked closer, the resemblance was undeniable."

Wren Wynter’s heart began to race.

If this woman was truly her aunt, then aside from Old Madam Xavier, she would be Wren’s only other living relative in the world.

Wren Wynter cleared her throat and spoke.

"Did she say what time this afternoon she’d be back?"

Butler Chandler paused to think.

"She didn’t give a specific time, only that she would pay another visit this afternoon."

Wren Wynter nodded, her heart aflutter with both anticipation and unease.

’If she really is my aunt, then maybe... I won’t be alone anymore.’

The doorbell rang at precisely two in the afternoon.

Standing in the living room, Wren Wynter nervously clenched her fists.

Butler Chandler went to answer the door, and a middle-aged woman in a beige suit walked in.

She appeared to be around fifty, very well-kept, and carried herself with an elegant air.

But what shocked Wren Wynter most was the woman’s face.

She looked so much like her father. Her eyes, in particular, were identical.

"You... you’re Wren?" The woman’s eyes grew red the moment she saw her.

Wren Wynter nodded. "I am. And you are...?"

"I’m your aunt, Grace Wynter."

The woman walked up to Wren, studying her face. "You look so much like your mother. Especially your nose and mouth—it’s like you were cast from the same mold."

Wren felt a sting in her own nose. "Auntie... is it really you?"

"It is." Grace Wynter took her hand as tears fell from her eyes. "I’m so sorry, Wren. Your aunt came back too late."

She couldn’t say more, simply overcome by tears.

Wren began to cry as well.

For the past five years, she had believed herself to be an orphan with no living relatives. She never imagined that she still had an aunt in this world.

The two women embraced, sobbing, and it was quite some time before they managed to compose themselves.

Grace Wynter led Wren to the sofa and sat down, asking in detail about her life over the past few years.

Wren gave a brief summary, omitting any mention of Kaden Xavier. She just said that she worked at the hospital and was doing all right.

"Silly child, how could you be ’all right’?" Grace said, her heart aching as she stroked Wren’s hair. "Your parents passed away so suddenly; it must have been so hard for you, all alone. It’s my fault. I should have come back sooner to take care of you."

"It’s not your fault, Auntie." Wren shook her head. "You were abroad. It’s understandable that the news didn’t reach you."

Grace Wynter sighed. "I came back this time for business. Once I’ve taken care of it, Wren, why don’t you come abroad with me? I have a company there, and the quality of life is better. You could continue your medical studies, and I would support you completely."

Wren was taken aback but quickly shook her head. "Thank you for the kind offer, Auntie, but I don’t want to go abroad."

"Why not?" Grace was perplexed. "You don’t have any family left in the country. I’m worried about you being here all alone."

"I have my mentors, my friends, and my job here," Wren said softly. "I don’t want to leave. Besides... my parents are here. I want to stay with them."

At the mention of her brother and sister-in-law, Grace’s eyes reddened once more.

She was silent for a moment before finally nodding. "Alright, I won’t force you. If you want to stay, then stay. But Wren, you have to promise me—if you ever need anything, you have to tell me. Don’t try to bear it all on your own."

"I will," Wren nodded.

Grace took a business card from her purse. "This has the address and phone number for my company abroad. Also, your cousin, Finn Wynter, will be returning to the country in a little while. If you ever need help with anything, you can go to him."

Wren took the business card. It was printed with the words "Wynter International," and below that, Grace Wynter’s name and contact information.

"My cousin?" Wren was surprised. "I have a cousin?"

"That’s right. Your cousin Finn is five years older than you. He grew up abroad, though, so it’s only natural you’ve never met," Grace said with a smile. "When he comes back, you two can finally meet and catch up."

A warm feeling spread through Wren’s heart.

’So I’m not alone. I have an aunt, and a cousin.’

The two of them talked for a long time, until dusk began to fall and Grace finally got up to leave.

"Wren, I’ll be in the country handling some business for the next few days, but I’ll come see you again after that." Grace hugged Wren. "You have to take good care of yourself, understand?"

"I will, Auntie." Wren walked her to the door. "You take care, too."

After seeing Grace off, Wren returned to the living room and stared at the business card in her hand, a whirlwind of emotions in her heart.

She searched for Wynter International on her phone, and her eyes widened at what she found.

’The company is this huge?!’

Its operations spanned the globe, with a complete industrial chain, its own supply network, and a top-tier management system.

Wren collected her thoughts.

’Looks like Auntie is doing very well for herself,’ she thought, relieved.

She put down her phone and went to take a shower.

The hot water sluicing over her body washed away the day’s exhaustion and soothed her lingering headache.

She closed her eyes, standing under the showerhead, feeling the warm water stream over her, a sense of clarity washing through her entire being.

Kaden Xavier had just returned home when he spotted Wren’s phone on the table.

Just then, a friend request notification popped up on the screen.

"This is Finn Wynter."

Kaden Xavier’s expression darkened.

He was reminded of Wren’s recent coldness toward him.

Kaden Xavier’s grip on the phone tightened, his gaze turning icy cold.

This was the scene that greeted Wren as she stepped out of the bathroom. She frowned, her tone sharp.

"Who said you could look at my phone?"
