Captain Xavier, Your Wife Has Signed the Divorce Papers

The man in the lead sounded uncertain and surprised when he read Wren Wynter’s name. But when he saw Wren’s face, the longing and disbelief in his eyes became even more pronounced. "Wren! It’s really you! Are you... Are you hurt?"

"Ho-ran?!"

Wren was also surprised. She hadn’t expected to run into her mentor’s most senior student, Ho-ran Park, at the hospital.

Their mentor had five students in total; Wren was the youngest, and she had been doted on by her mentor and the older members of the group.

Back then, everyone had told her she shouldn’t marry Kaden Xavier, that she shouldn’t give up her future for him. But she had been stubborn, determined to throw herself into love like a moth to a flame.

She’d even shamelessly declared that marrying Kaden Xavier was the greatest honor of her life. But now... she was too ashamed to face her mentor and the others.

"No, it’s just pollen allergies."

"How could you be so careless? You know you have pollen allergies, yet you still went near those flowers."

Ho-ran Park scolded her, but his actions betrayed his concern. He walked over to Wren’s side, took her hand to check her skin, and only breathed a sigh of relief when he saw the rash had mostly faded.

"Ho-ran, you should get back to your work. We can catch up after we’re both done."

"Alright. I’ll go do my rounds then."

Ho-ran Park tucked the blanket around Wren, then hurried off with the medical interns.

Joy Lynch watched Ho-ran Park’s departing figure, tugging excitedly at Wren’s sleeve, her cheeks flushing slightly. "Wren, who is that?"

"My mentor’s most senior student." Wren raised an eyebrow playfully. "Why? Are you interested?"

"He is gorgeous! Totally my type!"

Ho-ran Park looked like a refined gentleman from a noble family, with phoenix eyes and features that were distinct yet soft. His first impression was one of gentle elegance.

"Honey, I’d give up on that dream. He is celibate to the core, practically allergic to women." Wren’s lovely eyes crinkled into a smile, a hint of nostalgia in them. "I haven’t seen my mentor or my fellow apprentices in a long time, either."

"Well, you two have a good catch-up later. I’ve got to run some errands. Don’t forget to get his contact info for me later," Joy Lynch said with a wink.

Wren laughed. "Go on."

Joy Lynch fluffed Wren’s pillow, adjusted the height of the hospital bed, and left.

Wren closed her eyes, ready to get some rest, when she heard soft footsteps approaching. Thinking it was Joy, she didn’t even open her eyes, teasing playfully, "Did you forget something?"

"It’s me."

Kaden Xavier’s voice was laced with an extra chill.

The smile on Wren’s lips instantly vanished. "What are you doing here? You’re not welcome. Get out!"

"Wren, stop making a scene! This entire hospital belongs to the Xavier Group. Who would dare to throw me out?" Kaden Xavier’s brows furrowed tightly.

"If you won’t leave, I will!"

With that, Wren threw back her blanket.

Kaden reached out, grabbed her, and roughly pulled her back. "Wren, what the hell are you trying to pull?"

"Kaden Xavier, what are you trying to pull? Since you’re so eager to play the savior, just sign the damn divorce papers already! I’ll make way for Seraphina Sutton!"

"I’ve already explained this to you. Seraphina isn’t like you. She has no family or friends in the Capital, nowhere to even stay. And she’s pregnant. I can’t just abandon her!"

"You take care of her, and we’ll get a divorce." Wren refused to back down.

"If you leave me, where else can you go?"

Before Wren could answer, a gentle voice cut in.

"Where she goes is no concern of Captain Xavier’s." Every word from Ho-ran Park was dripping with dislike for Kaden Xavier. In his eyes, Kaden Xavier was utterly unworthy of Wren.

"Who are you? Who let you in!" Interrupted, Kaden Xavier’s brow sharpened, his handsome face clouded over. "Wren, is this the reason you’re so desperate to divorce me?"

Wren didn’t want to argue with him in front of Ho-ran. It would only highlight how pathetic her past decisions were. She forced a smile. "Ho-ran, let’s go."

"Alright."

But unexpectedly, they ran right into Seraphina Sutton, who had come looking for Kaden.

"Dr. Wynter, are you still angry with me?"

"Seraphina, what are you doing here?"

"I didn’t want you and Dr. Wynter to fight because of me, so I wanted to come and apologize to her."

"This has nothing to do with you." Kaden frowned. "The doctor said your pregnancy was just strained. You can’t be running around. Go back and rest."

"Strained? Her complexion is rosy, and she can walk and run just fine. She looks perfectly healthy to me. Not at all like someone whose pregnancy is at risk." Ho-ran Park glanced at Seraphina and spoke coolly.

Guiltily, Seraphina Sutton took a step back, bit her lip, and hid behind Kaden Xavier, her eyes turning red.

"You have no right to speak here!"

"And why not?" Wren shot back, grabbing Ho-ran Park’s arm. "This is Ho-ran Park. He’s a specialist at this hospital. Since her pregnancy is ’strained,’ it’s the perfect opportunity for him to take a look. He might even be able to offer some advice on how to protect the baby."

The moment Seraphina Sutton heard that Ho-ran Park was going to examine her, she panicked and quickly waved her hands. "N-No need to go to all that trouble! I just had a check-up. The doctor advised me to get more rest."

"What are you afraid of?" Ho-ran Park pushed up his gold-rimmed glasses. "My specialty may not be obstetrics, but one of my younger colleagues is highly accomplished in that field. We live and eat together every day, so I’ve picked up a thing or two. I can certainly offer some simple advice."

"That’s not necessary, Doctor. To be blunt, you and Dr. Wynter know each other. Since I’ve upset her, you’d inevitably be biased in how you treat me. I’d rather just stick with my original doctor."

Wren’s good temper vanished in an instant. "Then all of you, get out!" she roared, her anger unstoppable. She would never allow anyone to insult Ho-ran.

"Wren, what kind of fit are you throwing now?" Kaden’s eyes darkened.

"Kaden, my stomach hurts again..."

His dark eyes shifted between the two women before he finally supported Seraphina Sutton and left.

"It’s not worth getting angry over people like that." Ho-ran Park stroked Wren’s hair with a pained expression, just like he used to.

Wren looked at her Ho-ran, whom she hadn’t seen in so long, and her eyes burned. Tears streamed down her face against her will. "Ho-ran, I was wrong!"

Ho-ran Park gently patted Wren’s back and let out a long sigh. "Who hasn’t dated a few scumbags when they were young? When you gave up your position at the research lab for him, willingly becoming a mere flight surgeon, you had no idea how upset our mentor and I were. Thankfully, it’s not too late."

"I’m so sorry. I let down all of you."
