Seraphina Sutton hurried forward, her voice soft. "Kaden, you’re just in time. I specially invited a traditional Chinese medicine doctor to see Grandma Xavier, but Dr. Wynter has been obstructing him, even calling him a fraud."

Nathaniel Quinn chimed in, "That’s right, Cole. This Miracle Doctor Wallace is very famous—he’s cured countless intractable cases. But Wren Wynter isn’t just being disrespectful, she’s causing trouble at every turn. She either has a guilty conscience or she’s worried Miracle Doctor Wallace will cure Grandma and threaten her reputation."

A relative of his had once been cured by a folk remedy.

Wren Wynter nearly laughed in fury at their logic. She stared intently at Kaden Xavier, grinding out each word. "Kaden Xavier, this so-called ’miracle doctor’ doesn’t even have a medical license, and he’s using herbs of unknown origin. If you don’t want Grandma’s condition to deteriorate, make him leave."

Kaden Xavier ignored Wren Wynter, his powerful, arrogant gaze landing on Miracle Doctor Wallace. "Are you truly certain you can cure my grandmother?"

Miracle Doctor Wallace puffed out his chest. "Of course! My prescription is specially formulated to treat comatose patients. A few days of this, combined with my acupuncture technique, and I guarantee she will wake up."

"Then you should give it a try," Seraphina Sutton said, fanning the flames. "Grandma Xavier has been in a coma for so many days, and Dr. Wynter’s acupuncture hasn’t had any effect. Why not let Miracle Doctor Wallace try? It might actually work."

Lana Xavier nodded as well. "Brother, just let Miracle Doctor Wallace try. Wren Wynter comes to do acupuncture every day, but Grandma still isn’t awake, is she? Maybe a different method will actually be effective."

Faced with their arguments, Kaden Xavier hesitated.

These past few days, he had watched helplessly as his grandmother wasted away, unable to do a thing.

"Enough!" Seraphina Sutton shrieked. "Dr. Wynter, I have always respected you as Kaden’s wife. Even after you caused me to lose my child, I never blamed you. But how can you treat Grandma Xavier’s life like a joke? I know you hate me, but my intentions for Grandma Xavier are sincere!"

Nathaniel Quinn also pointed at Wren Wynter. "Cole, don’t listen to her! A woman like her will do anything for money!"

Wren Wynter ignored their idiotic accusations, her gaze fixed on Kaden Xavier as she spoke, enunciating every word. "Kaden Xavier, I am now telling you, in my capacity as Grandma’s attending physician: if you let this man treat her, you alone will be responsible for the consequences."

Kaden Xavier looked from Wren Wynter’s resolute gaze to Miracle Doctor Wallace’s confident face, his heart in turmoil.

In the end, his desperate longing for his grandmother to awaken won out.

"Miracle Doctor Wallace, please begin," Kaden Xavier said in a heavy voice.

Wren Wynter’s heart plummeted.

’She knew that nothing she said mattered anymore.’

Miracle Doctor Wallace shot Wren Wynter a smug glance and took several long, thick silver needles from the wooden box he was carrying.

The needles looked much thicker than those used for standard acupuncture, their tips glinting ominously under the light.

The moment Wren Wynter saw the needles, the color drained from her face. "Stop! Those needles are too thick! They can’t be used for acupuncture on the head—you’ll puncture Grandma’s brain tissue!"

"What do you know!" Miracle Doctor Wallace said impatiently. "My technique requires these thick needles to stimulate the deep nerves!"

As he spoke, he first smeared the herbal pouch from earlier onto Old Madam Xavier’s lips, then brought a needle toward her head.

Wren Wynter tried to rush forward and stop him, but Seraphina Sutton and Nathaniel Quinn grabbed her, one on each side.

"Dr. Wynter, don’t make a scene!" Seraphina Sutton gripped Wren Wynter’s arm tightly. "Miracle Doctor Wallace is performing the treatment!"

"Let me go!" Wren Wynter struggled with all her might but couldn’t break free.

She glared at Kaden Xavier, her heart breaking, her trembling voice raspy as if choked with smoke. "Kaden Xavier, he’s going to kill Grandma. Why do you never, ever believe me?"

’If only he would trust me just this once!’

Kaden Xavier couldn’t bring himself to meet Wren Wynter’s anguished gaze, but his heart twisted into a knot.

Wren Wynter watched, horrified, as Miracle Doctor Wallace plunged the long, thick silver needle into her grandmother’s temple.

After the first needle, Old Madam Xavier showed no reaction.

Miracle Doctor Wallace frowned, took out a second needle, and inserted it into the opposite temple.

Still no reaction.

"Strange..." Miracle Doctor Wallace muttered to himself. "Logically, there should have been some kind of reaction..."

Undeterred, he took out a third needle, this time aiming for the Baihui acupoint at the crown of Old Madam Xavier’s head.

He used a great deal of force with this insertion, driving the needle almost completely in.

Just then, disaster struck.

Old Madam Xavier’s body convulsed violently. Then, dark red blood began to seep from her eyes, nose, ears, and mouth.

"Ah!" Lana Xavier screamed. "Grandma... Grandma’s bleeding!"

Helen Sawyer was also frightened into silence, staring dumbly at her mother-in-law, who was bleeding from her eyes, ears, nose, and mouth, utterly speechless.

Miracle Doctor Wallace panicked, fumbling to remove the needles, but his hands were shaking so violently he couldn’t get them out.

"Wh-what’s happening? I saw them do it just like this in a video..." he stammered incoherently.

"From a video?" Wren Wynter violently shook off Seraphina Sutton and Nathaniel Quinn, shoving Miracle Doctor Wallace aside. "You dare to perform acupuncture on someone’s head when you haven’t even had any formal training?"

She quickly checked Old Madam Xavier’s condition, her expression growing increasingly grave.

The thick needles hadn’t just damaged the brain tissue; they had likely caused a cerebral hemorrhage.

"Prep for emergency resuscitation!" Wren Wynter yelled to the nurses who had rushed in. "Notify neurosurgery, the patient is showing signs of a cerebral hemorrhage!"

Only then did Kaden Xavier snap out of his shock. He looked at his grandmother bleeding from every orifice, then at the panicked face of Miracle Doctor Wallace, and finally understood the gravity of his mistake.

"Wren..." His voice was hoarse. "Grandma, is she..."

Wren Wynter’s tone was chillingly final. "Kaden Xavier, if anything happens to Grandma, I will hate you for the rest of my life."

It was the first time Kaden Xavier had ever heard Wren Wynter say she hated him. He staggered back a step, barely managing to stay upright by leaning against the wall.

His heart felt as if it were in a vise, squeezed tighter and tighter.

Once the nurses had arrived and taken Old Madam Xavier away, Wren Wynter turned, her icy gaze landing on Seraphina Sutton and Nathaniel Quinn. "Seraphina Sutton, what in the world are you trying to accomplish? Are you so determined to see Grandma dead?"

Seraphina Sutton’s face paled, and she looked helplessly at Kaden Xavier. "Kaden, I... I was only trying to help..."

"Help?" Wren Wynter scoffed. "Is this what you call helping? Finding a charlatan with no medical license to nearly kill Grandma?"

"I didn’t know he was a fraud..." Tears streamed down Seraphina Sutton’s face. "I just wanted to help Grandma Xavier wake up... Kaden, you know what it’s like. I just lost our child. I know the pain of losing someone you love, and I just didn’t want you to go through that pain too..."
