To Wren Wynter, Old Madam Xavier was one of the few rays of light in the darkness.

When she was struggling to get by in the Xavier family, walking on thin ice, the old woman had been her rock, the one who gave her what little warmth she had.

If Kaden Xavier was her obsession within the Xavier family, then Old Madam Xavier was her attachment to it.

Old Madam Xavier lovingly stroked her hair. Her large, wrinkled hands were even thinner after her serious illness.

"Silly child, I made you worry. Grandma knows everything. You saved my life. Thank you."

Wren Wynter shook her head and looked up at that aged yet benevolent face. "Grandma, saving you is what I’m supposed to do. Let’s not say thank you, okay?"

"Alright, alright. Our Wren is the best."

Old Madam Xavier seemed to be in good spirits. Having just woken up, she didn’t appear to have any physical discomfort.

Watching the heartwarming interaction between the two, Kaden Xavier found his lips curling into a smile and his gaze softening.

Standing to the side, Seraphina Sutton ground her teeth in anger. ’I was the one taking care of Old Madam Xavier when she woke up! Why won’t she even spare me a single glance?’

"Wren, there’s something Grandma wants to discuss with you."

"What is it?"

"I’m not used to living in the hospital. I want to go back to the old residence tomorrow."

"No!" Wren Wynter refused decisively. "Grandma, you just woke up. There are still too many uncertainties. If any other complications arise, the hospital is the safest place to be."
