A wave of weakness swept through Madara's body. It was as if all the strength had been drained from his limbs. He felt like a deflated balloon—utterly powerless. The dark handcuffs clamped tightly around his wrists, sapping his energy and rendering him helpless.
Even during his lifetime, Madara had never felt so vulnerable. It wasn't just physical exhaustion—something within the cuffs was actively suppressing his power. The aura of a sage that once radiated from him was completely gone. At this point, even a child could have ended his life.
"Wh-What... is this?" Madara muttered, voice trembling with rage and disbelief.
Instinctively, he tried to summon a Truth-Seeking Orb to retaliate against Chinano, but the gesture faltered. His hand froze in midair, limp and powerless. There was nothing left in him to fight back.
Hatsuizumi grin widened with satisfaction, a sinister glint in her eyes. Her voice dripped with malice as she spoke slowly, deliberately.
"If you use the immortal body to refine Gu..."
Zixu and the others rushed to Hatsuizumi side. Despite Madara's apparent defeat, they remained cautious. None of them dared to let their guard down as they stared at the fallen legend.
Above them, the giant sacred tree halted its growth. Yet its blood-red eyes remained open, fixated on the moon drifting farther into the sky. It felt as though the tree had developed a will of its own.
From the shadows, Orochimaru observed the scene unfold. A faint smile curled on his lips as he watched Madara subdued by the seastone handcuffs.
"So... that kid really figured out how to control the fruit," Orochimaru muttered to himself. "Everything's going according to plan. Now... it's time to reclaim the power of the Six Paths."
No one noticed the subtle movements of his fingers, rapidly forming hand seals. Ever since the war began, Orochimaru had been manipulating events from the sidelines—introducing strange individuals, shifting allegiances, and keeping his motives murky.
"It's a pity that the resurrection fruit was lost," he said quietly, shaking his head. "Still... I'll make do."
Zixu, ever pragmatic, understood that hesitation was a mistake when your enemy was down. If he didn't act now, he might never get another chance.
He lunged forward, slamming his blood-stained mace into Madara's body over and over. The strikes landed with sickening force, each blow more brutal than the last. It was a beatdown—merciless and unrelenting.
Madara collapsed to the ground, his body broken and bruised. His vision blurred, his mind clouded. There was no resistance left in him—just silence and agony.
Hashirama stood off to the side, torn. Watching his once-best friend, his greatest rival, being beaten into a pulp stirred something in him. Sadness. Guilt. Regret. But he didn't intervene. He knew Madara had brought this on himself.
He turned his head away.
Tobirama, however, nodded in approval.
"This kid doesn't hesitate. Ruthless when it counts... that's a real shinobi."
Just as Zixu raised his weapon for the finishing blow, something unexpected happened.
A blood-red Sharingan snapped open in Madara's left eye.
He shouldn't have had the strength to use any jutsu. He should've been out of chakra, barely clinging to life. But somehow, the Mangekyō activated.
"The power of the Mangekyō... It can seal a technique within the eye itself, locking it in a moment of time..." Madara whispered with a manic grin.
His body began to turn translucent, gradually fading from sight. And then... he laughed—wild and triumphant.
Madara had always taken pride not just in his strength, but in his foresight. Back when he fought Hashirama and was seemingly killed, he had already anticipated that outcome.
He had bitten off a piece of Hashirama's flesh before dying, knowing Tobirama wouldn't dare destroy his body—too valuable, too powerful. Using that flesh, he later awakened the Rinnegan. He had even sealed the Yin Release version of Izanami into his eyes to ensure resurrection.
Now, history repeated itself.
His body vanished from Zixu's grip and reappeared some distance away, fully intact. The seastone cuffs clattered to the ground—useless now.
One of his eyes was now a pale yellow, clearly blind. But the other gleamed with power.
He didn't waste time on words. His focus turned immediately to the Infinite Tsukuyomi. A grotesque, bloody eye began to form on his forehead.
Orochimaru stopped forming hand seals and watched carefully. Though tempted to interfere, he knew his current strength wouldn't be enough. For now, he had to play the long game.
The roots of the sacred tree, previously halted by sealing jutsu, began to stir once more. At their base, strange cocoons formed. Pale hands burst out from within them—dozens, then hundreds.
These were not ordinary White Zetsu.
They were people—humans trapped by the Infinite Tsukuyomi. Twisted into something else.
One by one, they crawled out and began attacking.
Obito, who had been lingering in the background, frowned. He still didn't fully trust Madara. His plan had always been to become the Ten-Tails Jinchūriki himself. But Madara had taken that opportunity away.
Now, he had no choice but to play along.
Naruto had been trying—unsuccessfully—to talk sense into Obito, appealing to whatever sliver of humanity remained. But Obito wasn't swayed.
Sasuke, meanwhile, had grown stronger, more arrogant—until Obito smacked him down with Kamui. That humbled him, at least for now.
The reborn Madara kept his gaze locked on the handcuffs in Hatsuizumi's grasp. He wouldn't fall for the same trick again. He had no intention of giving them a second chance.
He just needed a few more seconds.
The moon overhead began to glow crimson once more. The sacred tree surged taller, rising into the heavens like it wanted to touch the moon itself.
Hashirama knew what Madara was trying to do.
"We can't let him succeed."
With a stomp, a towering Buddha made of wood rose behind him—tens of meters tall. Thousands of wooden arms shot forward, slamming down on Madara like tidal waves.
Madara stood at the center of the chaos, a lone figure in a sea of destruction. But he was ready.
A burst of frost exploded outward.
Mei Terumi stood in front of him, her body the epicenter of a violent ice release. She held off Hashirama's attack, buying Madara the time he needed.
He let out a manic laugh.
The third eye on his forehead—blood-red, with nine magatama—snapped fully open. Its projection appeared on the moon above.
Orochimaru froze, his jutsu complete. He could only watch now.
Cracks began to form across the moon's surface. It started breaking apart.
Far above, Chinano had been adjusting the moon's orbit—but seeing what was happening, she gave up. With Karin at her side, she jumped down, aiming straight for the battlefield.
On the ground, Hashirama and the others looked up with dread as the eye on the moon opened wide.
Only Zixu smiled faintly, as if he'd been waiting for this moment.
"Infinite Tsukuyomi," Madara declared, his voice echoing with madness.
The third eye shone with a blinding light. The broken moon and the sacred tree bathed the world in a luminous glow. Anyone caught in it would fall under its illusion—trapped in a dream while their bodies remained defenseless in the real world.
Zixu and the others had only seconds to act before their fates slipped out of their hands.
