Sasori's actions were nothing short of revolting. Face-to-face NTR wasn't enough to describe it. It was like watching a scumbag snatch away the goddess you had long admired—the one who was always cold and indifferent to you. And now, this bastard was casually playing Landlord with her right in front of you, unlocking all kinds of postures while you could only stand by and watch helplessly.
This was the same humiliation and frustration the Sand Village shinobi felt. Their once-proud Kazekage—the strongest in their village's history—had been reduced to nothing more than a puppet. Forced to slaughter their own people, he became a tool in the hands of the enemy. The shinobi of the Sand Village felt as if they had swallowed poison, their stomachs churning with rage and disgust. They wished they could rip out Scorpion's tendons, flay his skin, and tear him apart limb by limb.
"Be careful! The Third Kazekage uses Jiton (Magnet Release) to control iron sand. It's best not to use metal weapons—they'll be completely ineffective!" a Sand Ninja warned urgently.
At this point, only by killing Sasori could they regain some measure of their dignity. Sharing information became their only way to contribute.
"Tch, are all red-haired guys this hateful?" Sasuke sneered, curling his lips.
He didn't act recklessly. Through the keen eyes of his Sharingan, he noticed that the flow of chakra within Sasori's body was strange. Without the Byakugan, he couldn't see clearly, but he knew something was off.
"Be careful not to get touched by the Third Kazekage. Once you're marked, his iron sand will track you relentlessly—it's a guaranteed hit," another Sand Ninja warned grimly.
Although this was once the pride and secret of the Sand Village, they now had no choice but to reveal it. The bitterness in their voices was palpable.
Just as they were debating whether to share more information, the ground suddenly shook. A golden wave of sand surged upward, forming a massive cube that slammed into the swirling iron sand, wrapping around Sasori and the Third Kazekage puppet.
Then, a white figure flickered across the battlefield like a ghost. As the figure sheathed his sword, a dazzling flash of white light streaked through the air, followed by countless slashes. The chakra threads anchoring the puppets were instantly severed.
The sand sphere in the center of the battlefield was sealed by a layer of ice. The next moment, under the barrage of a thousand swords, the ice shattered into glittering fragments.
Haku and Gaara had arrived!
Of course, Sasori was no fool. He wasn't going down so easily, and Gaara and Haku weren't naive enough to think otherwise.
While Scorpion was momentarily restrained, Gaara, floating on a suspended cloud of sand, waved his hand and directed the other shinobi to evacuate.
The ninjas, realizing they were outmatched, didn't hesitate to flee. Most quickly retreated, unwilling to get involved, leaving only the shinobi from the Sand Village behind.
"I... Mr. Gaara, please let us lend you a hand," one of the Sand Ninja stammered awkwardly.
The man lowered his head, ashamed. The boy they once feared and despised—treated as nothing more than a village weapon—was now protecting them. The irony wasn't lost on them.
"Yeah," Gaara replied flatly, not even sparing them a glance.
He held no love for the people of the Sand Village, but he wouldn't slaughter them either. As long as they followed his orders, he wouldn't turn his hand against them.
"Then, keep watch on the perimeter. You won't be of much help in this fight," Gaara said calmly.
He knew the truth—the so-called elites of the Sand Village were weak. Against someone of Sasori's caliber, they were little more than cannon fodder. It was better to keep them away from the main battle than waste time protecting them.
All he needed was Haku's cooperation. Kankuro and Temari were already handling the evacuation efforts to reduce casualties.
"No... it's fine. Don't worry," the Sand Ninja bowed respectfully.
He no longer dared to meet Gaara's eyes. The overwhelming pressure Gaara exuded was suffocating. He was no longer the unstable, fearful child they once knew.
Sure enough, Sasori appeared again before them. This time, he repeated his previous trick, creating a barrier of iron sand to form an impenetrable defense. However, the technique was no longer as flawless.
There were now gaps in the iron sand wall—tiny fractures caused by the countless slashes. Some golden sand had mixed into the black iron, disrupting its uniformity. Gaara's manipulation successfully interfered with Sasori iron control.
A puppet was still just a puppet. No matter how skilled Sasori was, the Third Kazekage's puppet could never replicate the true mastery of its living counterpart. The real Third Kazekage would have instantly sensed the disturbance in the iron sand. Sasori, however, had to rely on the puppet's limited perception, making him slower to react.
Haku drew his sword, Yukigetsu (Snow Stride), once more. With his previous slash, he had already detected the Kazekage's magnetic chakra clinging to his sword. The iron sand dust clung to the sword like countless tiny leeches, making him frown slightly. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
With a flick of his wrist, Haku enveloped Yukigetsu in a layer of frost, isolating the iron particles. The icy aura surrounding him grew more intense, chilling the very air itself. The bone-freezing cold seemed capable of piercing through one's soul.
Even so, Haku still wielded the sword in a reverse grip, the blunt edge facing outward. Despite the deadly clash, he refused to use the blade's edge, fighting with the restraint of a pacifist warrior.
"So, the One-Tailed Jinchuriki has come knocking on my door," Sasori muttered coldly.
He shook the frost from his puppet body, his emotionless eyes locking onto Gaara.
"Be careful," Haku warned softly.
With a graceful swing of Yukigetsu, a stream of white mist surged toward Scorpion.
The frozen ice crystals scattered by Haku's attack shot toward Sasori like a flock of homing birds, drawn in by the chilling air. At the same time, Gaara formed a sand spear, launching it at Sasori with lethal precision.
You want to catch me? Go ahead and try.
Sasori fingers moved swiftly, manipulating the chakra threads with expert precision. His movements were fluid, like a master pianist performing a sonata—or a seasoned keyboard warrior executing rapid-fire commands. His fingers blurred with speed, leaving afterimages in the air.
The Third Kazekage puppet mirrored Scorpion's movements, its defense flawless. Its iron sand surged from its mouth, spreading like a black storm cloud over the battlefield.
The iron sand rapidly morphed into various shapes—cubes suspended overhead, spikes forming irregular branches, and jagged cones shooting toward Gaara and Haku with lethal speed.
The Kazekage puppet's arms extended unnaturally, hundreds of mechanical limbs sprouting as if the puppet had mutated. With overwhelming force, it slapped Gaara's sand spear aside and simultaneously restricted Haku's movements, turning the tide of the battle.
From a distance, Kankuro watched the fierce clash with a tinge of envy. Sasori puppets were famous for their craftsmanship, and now he was witnessing them firsthand.
The puppet Sasori was using was one he had discarded as inferior. And yet, seeing Sasori precise control over it made Kankuro realize just how much he still had to learn.
Part of him wanted Sasori dead—but another part regretted the thought. The knowledge Sasori possessed was invaluable. Killing him meant losing the chance to uncover the secrets of his superior puppet technology.
Still, there was no hesitation. This was a battle they couldn't afford to lose.
