If you were to ask anyone what the most famous place in the Land of Fire was, most would undoubtedly say Konoha. And they wouldn't be wrong—it was, after all, the face of the Fire Nation.
However, the Land of Fire was far more than just Konoha.
As a real country, the Fire Nation was vast and expansive, incomparable to a single village. The daimyo held the highest authority, and the Kage of each village required the daimyo's approval before being appointed.
In terms of political status, the Kage ranked below the daimyo. While the Kage led the ninja forces, the daimyo was the true leader, pulling the strings from the shadows.
The conflicts between villages were often nothing more than power plays for the daimyo's benefit. During the Ninja World Wars, it was ultimately the daimyo who made the final call, while the Five Great Ninja Villages acted more like military forces. When stripped down, a Kage was nothing more than a loyal and powerful hound for the daimyo.
Ryota, the only son of the Fire Nation's daimyo, had little concern for the world's turmoil. The struggles of ninjas and the starvation of commoners meant nothing to him.
As a noble's heir, Ryota never had to worry about war or famine. His only responsibilities were enjoying his lavish lifestyle and thinking of new ways to squander his wealth.
To him, life in the daimyo's mansion was comfortable.
After all, the daimyo of each nation followed an unspoken rule: they would never assassinate each other's high-ranking officials. They were all part of the ruling class—once that precedent was set, it would be chaos.
Better to let the ninja villages wage war and keep their own hands clean.
And so, Ryota celebrated his 16th birthday with reckless abandon. Yet, despite the extravagant festivities, he felt nothing—no excitement, no thrill. He had already experienced everything life had to offer, or so he thought.
But on this day, his fate would change forever—whether for better or worse remained to be seen.
Perched atop a tree branch like a raven, Haku silently donned his mask. The snow-colored sash around his waist fluttered faintly, carrying a chill in the air.
Though the sun hung high in the sky, scorching the earth with its relentless heat, Haku's presence made the surroundings feel eerily cold.
"The Fire Nation's daimyo has tight security," Haku muttered softly, observing the scene from his elevated position.
The defense forces around the daimyo's mansion were heavier than expected.
The sun blazed mercilessly, drying the ground and cracking the earth, yet the guards remained vigilant, patrolling despite the heat. Sweat trickled down their faces, but their sharp eyes missed nothing, making it impossible to find an opening.
After Zixu departed, Haku received his next mission: infiltrate the Fire Nation daimyo's mansion.
Initially, he had no idea which country to target, but Zixu's hint eventually led him here.
He was alone this time. Zabuza had stayed behind in the village to train the next generation in swordsmanship, while Temari had taken charge of teaching academics, guiding the younger students in "Swing Language"—an essential skill for spiritual cultivation.
Temari took her new role seriously, confident that she could help shape the next generation into strong, disciplined warriors.
Back in the present, Haku scanned the heavily guarded mansion. Though the defenses were formidable, they were not enough to stop him.
After all, he hadn't come to assassinate anyone—his goal was simply to sneak in unnoticed.
A thin mist began to spread around Haku, shimmering faintly as it caught the sunlight, creating a mirage-like haze. His figure gradually faded into the mist, becoming invisible to the guards.
But that was only step one.
The daimyo's residence was surrounded by sealing techniques, monitored by sensory ninjas. Any abnormal chakra fluctuations would trigger an alarm, making escape nearly impossible.
However, Zixu had prepared him for this.
The Land of Whirlpools—the birthplace of sealing arts—had methods to break even the most complex barriers. Zixu had taught Haku most of these techniques. With this knowledge, Haku had the perfect countermeasure.
(TL: He gain that knowledge in Sarutobi)
Haku approached the barrier with cautious precision, employing his less-than-expert sealing technique to create a brief gap.
He slipped through the momentary weakness without alerting the sensory ninjas. Though his skill wasn't flawless, the disruption was minimal—like a leaf falling onto still water, creating only faint ripples.
Had he been detected, the response would have been more like firecrackers detonating underwater, alerting every guard in the area.
Having successfully infiltrated the daimyo's residence, Haku remained on high alert, moving with silent, calculated steps to avoid detection.
The mansion was massive—an embodiment of luxury and grandeur.
Gold and jade ornaments, silk tapestries, and lavish decor adorned the halls. It was almost gaudy in its extravagance.
Haku traversed the maze-like corridors for what seemed like an eternity before finally reaching the main palace, where the daimyo resided. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
Oddly enough, most of the rooms he passed were residences for the daimyo's female relatives, indicating how decadent and indulgent this place was.
"Hah... This must be it," Haku whispered, steadying his breath. His expression hardened beneath the mask.
With a faint flick of his kunai, he gently pushed the door open.
"Creak~"
The door swung inward, allowing a blinding ray of sunlight to spill into the room, directly into Ryota's eyes.
"What the hell?! Which bastard—"
Before Ryota could finish his curse, Haku's hand clamped down on his neck, swiftly subduing him.
The door softly clicked shut, leaving only Haku and the trembling noble, whose breath came in short, panicked gasps.
"You're not the daimyo," Haku muttered coldly. Something was wrong. He had come to speak with the daimyo, yet he was now face-to-face with his son instead.
"I... I'm just the daimyo's son! P-please don't hurt me!" Ryota stammered, his voice quivering. "My father will give you anything you want... Please, just let me go!"
Despite being a spoiled brat, Ryota wasn't foolish enough to provoke his captor. He knew that one wrong word could mean death.
"The daimyo's son?" Haku murmured indifferently. "That works too."
The vague remark made Ryota's blood run cold.
"Wait... does he want my life?!" Ryota thought, terror coursing through him. His teeth chattered, his entire body trembling with uncontrollable fear.
But instead of striking him down, Haku pulled out a small container from his robe.
"These... can enhance physical strength," Haku said flatly, holding out a few odd-looking bugs. His tone was as monotone as a bored salesman promoting a new product.
The sight of the insects made Ryota recoil in disgust.
"W-what the hell are those?!" he demanded, staring at the bugs with suspicion, as if Haku were a scammer trying to sell him fake potions.
"I'm not here to kill you," Haku clarified. "I'm here to offer you something greater. With your cooperation, we can reshape the balance of power among the major nations. It's a win-win situation."
Then, with a faint smirk, he added:
"Now, take me to the real daimyo. You won't be disappointed."
