Jin'an had long been working tirelessly to secure a political position in the Hidden Mist Village. Clearly, he succeeded—amassing a considerable number of supporters along the way. But his true nature? A staunch warmonger, utterly at odds with the ideology of the current Mizukage, Mei.
Honestly, that commentator's got guts. He just says whatever's on his mind. Where the hell did Zixu find this guy? Rare breed. I'm lucky to have come across him.
"Huh? Looks like contestant Yamagami isn't using firearms today? He actually brought a camera! What's he trying to do?" The commentator, ignoring Mei Terumi's "polite" smile that was clearly anything but, quickly shifted his focus to Kirei Yamagami.
Thanks to the soundproof barriers around the arena, no sound passed between the inside and outside—ensuring absolute fairness. Neither contestant could hear the commentary.
Kirei Yamagami was a war orphan. His hometown had been annihilated during conflict—beyond salvage. He'd been wandering ever since. Frail and sickly, he always looked like he was on the verge of collapse. Most villages refused to let him stay for long, afraid he'd die on their doorstep.
But everything changed when he met Zixu.
He still remembered that winter. Starving and about to faint, Zixu handed him a thick slab of bread, then smiled and asked if he wanted to join his village. That moment was everything.
Back then, Kirie didn't care about Zixu's talk of peaceful technology or grand ideals. All he wanted was a full stomach. But now? Looking back, joining him might've been the best damn decision he ever made.
"Oi, kid. What're you spacing out for?" Jin'an scoffed, seeing Kirei motionless like a statue. His voice carried a mocking sort of "concern."
Not that he cared about fairness—hell no. It was all part of his twisted game. A distraction.
"..."
Kirei didn't respond. Just kept fiddling with the small camera in his hand. He didn't know what strange techniques the guy might have—maybe even a jutsu that triggered once you spoke. But Zixu had taught him well: If they're an enemy, take them out first. Talk later—if there's anything left to talk to.
"Tsk... didn't fall for it, huh..." Jin'an clicked his tongue, annoyed. He had hoped to trick him into speaking, so he could hit him with a genjutsu. But the trap didn't spring.
Jin'an's appearance was bizarre—he didn't look like a ninja at all. Black formal suit. Slicked-back hair. That constant, slimy smile on his aging face. No weapon in sight. Completely ordinary... or so it seemed.
Yamagami Kirei, however, wasn't some weak, unarmed guy. If there was one thing he hated with every fiber of his being, it was those corrupt politicians who sat on their thrones, leeching off the efforts of the people below. They were parasites—feeding off resources while their countries rotted, their greed fueling wars. He thought they all deserved to die.
Kirei pulled a sleek silver revolver from his waist in one smooth motion. In the blink of an eye, his finger snapped the trigger—three bullets fired almost simultaneously. Fast. Sharp. Precise.
But Jin'an wasn't someone you could kill with a simple shot. The bullets hit something mid-air—clang, clang, clang—bouncing off invisible barriers.
Three colossal figures emerged, surrounding him.
Towering giants clad in metallic gold and iron. They didn't carry weapons, but their bodies were layered in thick bandages stained with dried blood, pulsing faintly with chakra.
"Summons? No... something's off..." Kirei didn't panic. He calmly analyzed the figures joining the battlefield.
Jin'an kept speaking, trying to chip away at his opponent's concentration—words meant to crack a fighter's will before fists even flew.
"Oh, don't be so surprised, Yamagami-kun. These are indeed summoned beings... transformed from my former test subjects. Don't worry—you'll join them soon enough. Death in combat is just fate, after all. Once they're dead, they're just tools to repurpose. Makes sense, right?"
That smile—smug, calculating. He was like a predator playing with his prey.
"And really, you're not even a ninja. You've got nothing but that tiny pistol. What do you think your odds are?"
"Civilians will always be civilians. Ants remain ants, no matter how much they struggle. The upper class owns everything—resources, power, destiny. Hard work? That's just a lie to keep the poor busy." 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"Look at you. An ordinary guy, dreaming like you matter. The things you fight a lifetime for—I get them with a snap of my fingers. It's unfair? Of course it is. But what the hell are you gonna do about it? You're just another small-town dreamer..."
His voice was like a venomous blade, every word slicing at Kirei's spirit.
Under siege from the three giants, Kirei darted through the field like a rat dodging a boot. One wrong move, and he was toast. Still, he fought back.
Every bullet counted. He aimed with deadly purpose—no wasted shots, each round hitting its mark.
Eventually, Jin'an was forced to leave one of the giants behind as a personal bodyguard.
"A small-town dreamer, huh? Maybe." Kirei smirked, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.
Gripping the camera tightly, he bolted forward like a ghost—too fast, too sudden. Jin'an had to deploy two giants to block him.
But—
Crack~ A bone-snapping sound echoed.
Curved blades sprung from Kirie's kneepads and boots. In a swift, graceful sweep, they slashed across the giants' knees. Coupled with the earlier bullet wounds, the combined damage overwhelmed their defenses—and both giants crumbled, kneeling in stunned silence.
Jin'an's face twisted in panic. Despite being a ninja, he had little actual combat experience. His strength came from manipulation and puppet mastery—his summons did the killing while he made speeches.
Now, stripped of his defenses, he froze like a terrified civilian.
Kirei stood inches from him now, bloodied but still grinning. He raised the camera and aimed.
"Smile for the camera. One, two, three..."
Flash!
The shutter clicked, capturing Jin'an's horrified expression.
Before he could process what had just happened, something inside him snapped. His heart and neck felt... empty.
Thud~ His body hit the ground. Blood pooled beneath him, his chest shredded by invisible force.
"As a person," Kirei finally spoke, "you should've tried having a little more compassion."
But by then, Jin'an was long past hearing anything at all.
