Chapter 08: Ability

"How much did the company pay you? Leave the group and I can pay you double instead."

"..." Seeing the young man didn’t answer him, Gu Weiyi felt irritated again.

Earlier when he left, not only because he was shocked at the latter’s sudden touch but also because he just couldn’t stand the young man’s face.

He hates such expressions on someone’s face.

Gu Weiyi came from a family of scholars. The members of his clan have their own profession in different fields. Medicine, education, military, law, business but never the entertainment industry, much like an idol like him. The clan is very traditional and even in the generation today, it’s still a bit in ancient style and teaching.

Ever since he was a child, he was taught about the learning to serve. The family believes that serving the country will bring blessing and honor for the family even for the future generations.

He indeed thought so too, but he never felt it much inside his heart. He just couldn’t understand why the motto of living is to serve. What have they owed the world to learn many things for them? Why isn’t it for themselves?

Gu Weiyi has pride, quite high actually. He wanted to prove how eager he is to create his own path than obediently walk to what they want him to. He never yielded and practiced harder than he could ever do in his life.

Then after just two years, he joined the competition and became a top idol he wanted to prove.

As for his family, Gu Weiyi has no idea anymore. Sometimes he’ll see news from his siblings or cousins due to their outstanding works on social media but other than that he doesn’t know, even his own parents.

Anyway, since they couldn’t accept someone like him, he will not either.

Who wants them anyway?

Gu Weiyi didn’t notice how his mood suddenly dampened while thinking about his past. He was focused on these things and didn’t notice that the young man lying on his bed was slowly reaching close to him again.

Meanwhile as soon as Gu Weiyi entered, Feng Rouyun’s attention was on the black cloud above the young man’s head. And as the latter fell into his thoughts, he quickly noticed how the black cloud gradually turned darker. It was like a cloud that turned dark because of an upcoming storm, full of strong rain and violence.

Feng Rouyun was feeling anxious. He instinctively wants to heal and tries to reach his hand but halted. He was hesitant. Is his ability still there?

But seeing Gu Weiyi start frowning, he just reaches out his hand again and puts his fingers to lightly touch the young man in case the latter would swat him away again.

Then he was surprised, he could feel the familiar sensation coming inside him. The warm feeling of the spiritual energy flows towards his fingers and it slowly penetrates Gu Weiyi.

"!!!" Feng Rouyun was stunned and felt delighted. It’s still on him!

On the other hand, when Gu Weiyi felt a slight touch on his hand again, he came back to his senses and saw Feng Rouyun’s outstretched fingers touching him.

"!!!" His eyes went wide at this shamelessness and wanted to quickly take back his hand when he felt something.

He suddenly smells a faint scent that attracts his attention. It was like when once soak in a heat weather then bask in cold water. After the refreshing coldness, the dryness was replaced by the feeling of softness and balmy on the skin. All the thoughts he had on his mind suddenly disappeared and his mind went blank, like what he felt after watering his garden. The feeling of being caressed with gentleness by nature that dissipates all the worries deep inside him.

Gu Weiyi was stunned and just stood on solid rock as he immersed at the sudden feeling.

Yet just as he was basking in this feeling, it was abruptly cut off when Feng Rouyun suddenly withdrew his fingers. That sensation quickly disappeared as if what he felt was an illusion.

"...." Gu Weiyi went silent and fell in a daze.

What was that? What happened to him?

Feng Rouyun held back his hand and smiled faintly. The black cloud above Gu Weiyi’s head seems to calm down. It was still dark but there was no feeling like earlier anymore.

He went back to his original position and looked at the young man.

"I’m not accepting it." He said.

Gu Weiyi came back to his senses and frowned again upon hearing him.

"What do you mean? Didn’t you join this because of money? I can pay double."

He didn’t answer.

Gu Weiyi sneers and the tranquility he felt disappears. His mood worsened again.

"Tsk, I am right! You don’t want to leave because you really want to be in the group? Then I’m telling you, you are not welcome and never will be!" he glares at the young man. "My team will not accept you."

And without waiting for a response, GU Weiyi leaves the room again with anger.

Feng Rouyun sighs.

Why didn’t he anyway? When he has just been stressing out himself how to integrate in the group? When he was working so hard on practicing non-stop that he even ended up in this situation?

Because maybe this is the first life he felt more alive.

In the past, he couldn’t really move and choose whatever he wanted because of restrictions from the federation. It’s not because they wanted to imprison him but rather just being too careful about him.

He is like the lifeline of everyone. He needs to live longer and healthier to heal them.

And honestly, although it was also voluntary, there was always a moment inside him where he hoped for a single change in his life.

Since he wasn’t able to have it in the past, then he hopes that in this next life, he will.

And he would.
