Chapter 07: Mental Pollution

Feng Rouyun felt really terrified as soon as he saw that black cloud hovering above Gu Weiyi’s head. He knew how such black cloud affects a person the most.

This black cloud is the form of a mental pollution in his past life. Before, everyone in their era had their own clouds above them and how the cloud darkens symbolizes the situation of a person.

The darker the cloud the heavy the mental pollution the person has. As a healer, they’ve been using spiritual energy to ’heal’. Well the truth is in their era, these mental pollution will never be completely cured. Because of the circumstances in the past wherein they face war everyday, there was no end to this plague inside them.

No matter he always heals, it will always appear again especially for the people in the frontline. There was never a single moment where the cloud above their heads was clear and clean.

From the days he’s living in this new world, he hasn’t seen a single cloud above their head. There weren’t even zergs so he thought that this world is very peaceful but what’s happening now?

"What are you looking at?" He heard the young man ask and before he could think of a response, his own body just instinctively moved and grabbed the latter’s hand.

Feng Rouyun just wanted to subconsciously touch the young man to heal but Gu Weiyi was quick to catch his hand back and even took a step back while shooting glare at him.

"What are you doing?!" Gu Weiyi snapped. "Huh! If you want to scheme on me then your plan fails! I will not let you succeed!"

"I do not." He defended himself. "But can you let me just touch—"

"No way!" Gu Weiyi seems to have had enough of his weird action and quickly leaves the room.

Feng Rouyun was left alone in the ward and had his thoughts running deep from what he just saw.

His mind was now filled with countless questions inside his head. What was the situation?

Feng Rouyun was no longer in the mood to continue watching videos and he went to browse the internet.

He unskilfully typed the word ’mental pollution’ in the search bar but what welcomed him was a bunch of something similar but not.

Mental pollution is a constant influx of negative stimuli or feelings that cloud a person’s clarity and emotions which lead to anxiety, depression, etc.

In his world, mental pollution means the toxic energy that zergs produce to influence their mental power. They create chaos to their core that results in riots. And these riots have very severe symptoms. People in his world would often experience an extreme headache that feels like it was pounded and stabbed endlessly. It can cloud one’s clarity that leads to any individual creating havoc themselves. They can’t control themselves and it’s very difficult for them to go back to their senses.

As for the mental pollution in this life, except for the initial information that was written, he still doesn’t know how it really is unless he observed it personally.

Additionally, this was not the only thing that was bothering him.

If there’s really mental pollution in this life, then do they also have healers like him? Do they also resolve this through spiritual energy like them?

Feng Rouyun tried to search for information like this but what welcomed him was a bunch of stuff written like fictions, novels, etc.

Or maybe cases like this aren’t well-known here yet? Does their government hide this situation? That’s why people don’t have an idea?

Feng Rouyun has so many questions in mind about the situation here. Even though he no longer has the position like where he was in the past, his job was like engraved on his bones— he couldn’t just ignore it and live a new life especially after knowing it exists.

He had the responsibility for so long and even in this new life, he just subconsciously thinks that he needs to do something with it.

However the question is, how and where can he start?

For the past few hours, Feng Rouyun continued to search for any information that he could possibly find but it was unfortunate that he really didn’t find anything.

He also happened to find a forum where many people would just casually chat and ask for anything, so he tried to post and asked if there were cases like mental pollution or healers.

But he was actually bombarded with different responses.

NightLifeIsNeeded: Is the poster roleplaying something? What the heck is this question?

OwlInMorning: I think the poster just immersed himself too much with such fiction. How can even mental pollution and spiritual energy exist? Is the poster an elementary student and believe the children’s book he read?

BetterMeYet: I think so too. Kid, don’t just believe what you’re reading! There’s differences between fiction and reality! Even Ultraman doesn’t exist!

Feng Rouyun couldn’t help but reply. May I ask who Ultraman is? Is he a healer?

His reply was quickly reacted with much laughter.

LoveMoonlight: HAHAHA! Kid, you actually don’t know Ultraman? Is your parents prohibiting you from reading fun books? Maybe that’s why you’re believing such nonsense here!

Feng Rouyun blinked in confusion. So this Ultraman is not real?

HiddenGem: Alright stop teasing innocent people. Kid, let me tell you, the things that you’re talking about are not real, okay? They’re just from imagination. There’s no any mental pollution here and powers like spiritual energy, much like a healer you’re asking about. It’s better to read more books from your school and study well, okay?

Feng Rouyun blankly replied thanks before putting down his phone. He frowned in confusion. So the people don’t know about it? Or is it really like what they said, it doesn’t exist?

But he really saw the black cloud above Gu Weiyi’s head. How can this be?

Or was he hallucinating? Was that an illusion? Was his body just that sick that he thought he’s been seeing something else from his past? But Feng Rouyun could no longer call Gu Weiyi and even worse, the young man would not agree to seeing him.

Fortunately to his delight, an incident came that answered his confusion.

Feng Rouyun was still in the hospital and just silently watching Ellipsis videos again when the door opened without a knock and a strange person entered.

And right when he wanted to ask the latter’s identity, his eyes caught the familiar sight of a black cloud above that person’s head.

"You’re Feng Rouyun?" That person was wearing a mask and all he could see was the cold stare on his eyes while looking at him.

He wanted to open his mouth to say something but the person dropped a heavy sentence in the next second.

"How much did the company pay you? Leave the group and I can pay you double instead."

"!!!"

Feng Rouyun was stunned and he couldn’t help but stare intently at the visitor.

He was watching Ellipsis all over again and again for the past few days and he had long become familiar with their structures and appearances.

And this young man in front of him... it’s actually still Gu Weiyi.

"...." Wrapping himself tightly, he doesn’t think he can recognize him?
