Chapter 35: Chapter 1: Red Thread

A month had passed since the announcement of the new member of Ellipsis. After that the company stayed silent and mute all throughout the time. There was never an additional explanation nor rumors from what just happened. In addition, the members also just stopped updating them all of the sudden. They seemed to disappear without any trace because there have been no pictures or stories around about them.

It’s like all of this went into a complete silence, leaving the fans and passersby confused. Up to this date, the protest also quieted down but that didn’t stop them from making posts and conversations about Ellipsis.

It’s just that everyone felt like they were left hanging in the air because there were never answers to them.

What’s happening? What’s going on right now? How’s the members coping up? Why did they disappear like this too? Is there something wrong?

The fans had nothing to hold on so they could only talk to each under the official post back then. The comments under were full of injustice and unwelcome remarks for the new member but now it was filled with questions and frustrations.

WeiWeiyi: Shouldn’t the company do something? It’s been a month! How is it going?! Are you feeling scared now to release that new ’member’ that you’ve been proud about to insert in my brother’s group?! Come out!

ShiningXining: I think that person is the reason why our brothers have gone missing. For sure he can’t keep up with the group and thus force them to stay low, right? Maybe he’s scared that no one will ever welcome him so he dragged others! How shameless!

JustForYueran: If that newcomer cannot even stand his capability with our brothers, what was his right to be in the group?! Our brothers worked so hard from that survival show and you just let anybody ride their cocktails! Where’s your integrity as the company?! All you think is about money and controlling your artists! You don’t deserve them!

There were countless different remarks under the post. Everyday they will comment and rant about their frustrations and longing for them because there was never a day that the three aren’t missing like this. Even though they are not super active, they will take some small time to talk to them and post pictures to assure them that they’re doing fine.

But now where?! Even just a shadow there’s none! So what’s going on?!

Just as they thought that they’ll spend this day with another waiting again, a new notification popped up on their phone.

"!!!!" Everyone was dumbfounded. What is this?! Official concept trailer?

They quickly clicked on the sudden video post and saw that it was even a 5 minute one.

The beginning of the video was actually very confusing. They saw a white hallway, bright lights and many people wearing white long coats— a perfect familiar scene from a hospital.

However even though they looked extremely busy and the expression on their faces were solemn and serious, they haven’t seen any patients around. There were not the ordinary civilians who were probably visiting their relatives or even nurses, all people were just wearing long white coats. In addition, every scene was always cut short. One moment the camera’s on a doctor looking inside a microscope then it quickly shifted to someone writing down then so on and so forth.

Everything seemed too fast-paced and there wasn’t even a single sound. It seems like an ordinary video but all of the sudden, a buzzing red alarm completely broke the eerie atmosphere. Red lights swarmed around and the people also lost their composure. Panic flashed in their eyes and some even began to run all of the sudden.

The audience watching subconsciously held their breath and leaned back with an uncomfortable face because the sharp ringing of the alarm seemed to be just right behind their ears. It shoots straight towards their head, giving unease and a tingling on the ears.

Back to the video, some wanted to collect the papers they were busying for when their companions rushed forward and pulled them forcefully out of the place they’re in.

Footsteps and the panting of people echoes until the sounds gradually disappear, going back to the usual silence earlier. The red alarm also stopped ringing but the red lights were on. The camera’s focus also slowly moved towards the scattered papers on the floor. It zoomed and gradually, they finally saw the words written on it.

The penmanship is actually a bit bad because the person was obviously too focused on what’s going on inside his mind and didn’t even look at how he was writing it. It’s messy but the words are still somehow readable.

Patient No. 001 Yang: Status and Ability: Complete

Patient No. 004 Feng: Status and Ability: Incomplete

The scene stopped and the screen went blank for a few seconds before a voice from a person spoke.

"Those three patients have their vitals stable and there haven’t been any single problems since yesterday!" That voice came from a middle-age man that sounds particularly excited. "Another two hours after and the initial waiting for any possible issue is over! Which means that our plans are successful!"

That voice that sounds overly excited continues. "These patients are truly perfect indeed! They are such wonderful creations that will surely bring honor and power to this world!"

Those words were like a nice compliment. It was as if the middle-age man were praising someone who will do good in the future. Yet as they listened to his laugh again, a chill went down their spine and only eeriness and unease arose inside their hearts.

What exactly is going on?

"Yes, of course! And this will never be if it weren’t for your brilliant ideas, Professor! I’m sure that the higher-ups will be happy about this. They will finally recognize our efforts to make the country better!" Another voice from a much younger tone sounded.

They heard a snort from that middle-age man. "Hmp! If it weren’t for me, how could you possibly attain this reward with me in such a short period of time? You’re lucky you’re under me."

The screen flashed and a hand that slowly clenched into fist appeared in front of them. It was a man’s hand and they could see the familiar white coat on him.

They heard a nervous laugh. "Haha! Y-Yes, I will always remember your patronage, Professor. I will also keep on trying hard to be like you!"

The middle-age man snorted again, the tone of his voice was full of disdain and contempt. "You? Tch! There was no one better than me! And if it weren’t for me, how could someone like you learn from me? Even attempt to be like me? Tch!"

The clench was seen tightening even more.

"Y-Yes, I’m sorry, Professor!" They heard the young man apologize nervously. They also saw his hands clasping together before his full view body was seen bowing down deeply to the man walking away from him.

Even when there’s no people around him, he maintained that position with a stiff body. The audience watching couldn’t help but feel pity for that young man’s pride.

The scene flashed again to another scene. This time, they saw four beds in a room. They were a bit far from each other but they could see four people laying on it, seemingly in their deep sleep.

Even so, the fans watching quickly recognize the three as the members of Ellipsis!

It’s finally them!

And there’s four beds, wouldn’t that mean that the other one is the new member Feng Rouyun?

Everyone held their breath as they waited for the next scenes.
