Chapter 01: The Healer
"Master, you’re not allowed to get up anymore! You cannot take any risk anymore!"
A young man wearing a white robe anxiously stopped the young man who was not that older than him when the latter was seen trying to get up on his bed.
The other people inside the room also became fretful as they also spoke in worry.
"Master, the other healers can help the soldiers. They are already enough so you don’t have to go there."
"That’s right. They are your disciples. I’m sure they can do everything to support the army."
"What’s enough?" A hoarse voice sounded from the young man they’ve been worrying about. The young man is also wearing a white robe but has golden linings on it, a symbol of his higher position in the team. He looks extremely young but his complexion is too pale and he can be seen so weak that even a violent wind can make him faint and disappear.
Apparently, this young man is named Feng Rouyun. He was the most outstanding and strongest healer in the federation. Even at such a young age, he showed truly magnificent capabilities to heal people especially with a higher rate of mental pollution.
He was too strong and was very responsible to the country. He will not hesitate to do his very best to help the soldiers which was actually the problem now.
Feng Rouyun had already exerted his best efforts to heal the soldiers with high mental pollution after being attacked by the Zergs. They have to be healed by spiritual energy as soon as possible or worse things will happen.
In their situation right now, a war is happening on the border. The zergs became rampant and stronger zergs kept on coming towards them. As the main support, he has to go to the border too to assist the soldiers with higher mental power. Only he can affect their mental power and help them.
It’s just that the patients are coming too many that Feng Rouyun’s body couldn’t take the loss of energy and thus he fainted. He only woke up a few seconds ago and immediately wanted to go back to the main point in order to aid the soldiers again.
Of course, the other people don’t want to agree. Feng Rouyun is the strongest healer. If he will be in danger, how can they confidently fight with the Zergs? Even though the young man took up many disciples and trained them, it was not enough to be on the level of his abilities at all. They don’t want to take any risks.
They can’t lose him.
But, how could Feng Rouyun accept it? Especially when a soldier suddenly came running inside the room and informed them to leave the zone because the situation outside is getting worse. The healers who couldn’t help anymore must leave so they can be safe.
As for the others who will stay here, nobody actually knows what will happen but death is the only possible ending for them.
This is life here as a soldier and healer. They were the first ones to protect the country and sacrificed everything, even their lives.
"I want to go back." Feng Rouyun firmly said.
"Master, you can’t!"
"Lin Xiu!" Feng Rouyun looked at his closest disciple with firm eyes.
"B-But Master, it’s too dangerous. Your body is too weak for now. Please let’s leave here already." Lin Xiu let his tears out as he took his master’s hands to beg.
"M-Master, I cannot do anything without you. Please hear me out. You have to rest!"
"Lin Xiu," Feng Rouyun’seyes stayed firm even when hearing its danger. "This is what I have to do as the healer. I have a responsibility to protect the country."
"But there are soldiers who can—"
"Lin Xiu!" His voice raises upon hearing what the latter will say. His eyes became sharp and cold as he reprimanded his disciple. "Are you out of your mind to say those words? What about the soldiers? They also sacrifice themselves then why can’t we? We have the ability to save the soldiers who are willing to die for us, are you being selfish to not save them when you can?"
"I-I’m sorry..." Lin Xiu bows his head and cries even more. Others also went in silence as they could only hear the loud screams and fight outside. It seems that the noise they hear is slapping their faces awake to remind them who they are.
Feng Rouyun is absolutely right. They are the healers. The soldiers are the armors so why can’t they be the bondage to aid their wounds?
Lin Xiu was about to say something again when they heard a messy footsteps coming outside until the door opened.
"!!!" They were stunned when they saw who came inside.
"Commander Wen!" The people were shocked when they saw the Commander-in-chief.
Wen Zheyuan didn’t look at them and went straight to Feng Rouyun. His eyes scanned Feng Rouyun’s situation and his expression turned more solemn.
"I need your help. Do you still want to go?" He directly stated his reasons.
This question quickly made the other healer turn anxious.
"Commander, Healer Feng’s body is too weak to go again. He must take a rest to recover his strength."
"We can send another batch of healers for the other soldier. He cannot take a risk again."
But Wen Zheyuan didn’t seem to hear their struggles and just stared at the young man in front.
And of course, Feng Rouyun didn’t even hesitate to answer and said yes.
"Healer Feng!"
"You can’t stop me." Feng Rouyun shook his head at him and looked at Wen Zheyuan. "I can help."
Wen Zheyuan nodded. Feng Rouyun forced his body to move and wanted to stand up but as he tried to do it, his body suddenly wobbled and fell out of balance.
"!!!"
His eyes widened and just as he fell, powerful arms quickly received him.
It was Wen Zheyuan.
The man slightly looked down at him and without saying a word, he bent down and snake his other arm behind him.
"!!!"
Wen Zheyuan suddenly lifted and carried him in his arms.
The man didn’t care about the gazes and quickly walked outside. As they ran with him in the man’s arms, Feng Rouyun could only hold the man’s dirty and blooded clothes to steady himself and tried to look at his surroundings.
Everything is now in chaos and destruction.
It was not only the dead bodies of the Zergs he could see on the ground but also the fallen soldiers and some healers who died after sacrificing themselves.
Looking at their miserable situation made him subconsciously tighten his grip on the man’s clothes.
This is probably his ending too, right?
Any time from now, he will become like them.
But did he regret nodding? No. Never.
This is his promise to the people who trusted him. The oath he swore not just to the country but also to himself.
"Feng Rouyun."
Feng Rouyun came back to his senses when he heard his name and was stunned when he heard it from Wen Zheyuan himself. Everyone calls him Master or Healer Feng and he doesn’t recall anybody calling his name except for now.
Hr slightly raised his head and met the man’s eyes looking at him.
"You will die." The man directly said his ending without any hesitation and the tone of his voice is like he was really saying what will happen.
"I know," he replied.
"I want to go to the Zerg Queen’s hideout. It will be very dangerous and have zero possibility of staying alive." Wen Zheyuan added.
He pauses for a second. "I know."
