Chapter 31: Original Life

Feng Rouyun paused and put down his tumbler with this sudden question. He opened his mouth and subconsciously wanted to talk about his past life but quickly realized that mistake.

He thought about the original’s memories and carefully answered him.

"It’s actually just very ordinary. I stopped going to school early and was focused on finding odd jobs. However I was still a minor and couldn’t do heavy labors so I had no choice but to pick light tasks." The original’s monotone yet busy life flashed inside him.

Feng Rouyun gave up going to school because from an early age, he knew that the orphanage needed help more than anything else. With the children growing up one by one and there’s even new infants coming to them, life became more and more difficult.

The orphanage is poor and they must unite to support their home— the only one who didn’t abandon them.

The original Feng Rouyun did many jobs. Dishwasher, newspaper/flier seller, gardening, making handicrafts, etc. He never wanted to stop for a moment, always feeling the knife above their heads threatening to slash their necks to death the moment they thought of stopping.

That offer to become an idol was actually the biggest risk he thought of. Whatever happens to him, he just thinks of gulping down all the possible grievances just to have money.

Feng Rouyun was someone who had ambition for his own life. He had long put himself from the past priority and even until now, if he really accepted the money and helped the orphanage, he’ll just probably go back to his usual life, working non-stop and lifeless.

Yang Yueran paused for a bit and changed the topic.

"How about your ability? When did you start knowing it and how was it even real?"

Now this is the question that Feng Rouyun has to think more cautiously.

Yang Yueran’s face looks calm as if he was just casually asking when his mouth starts dropping questions one by one without a pause.

"Did you also use that to other people? Where did it come from? How did you come up with the idea that it is called mental pollution and spiritual energy? Can it also heal completely?"

Yang Yueran didn’t hesitate and just directly looked at Feng Rouyun’s eyes. His gaze was straight forward and solemn.

"Can you tell me everything, Rouyun?"

"...." Feng Rouyun froze.

How can he answer that quickly? His ability was even something that they doubted until now. If he told him about his real identity, would his situation get even more complicated?

Besides he has no evidence how he became Feng Rouyun nor even felt an obligation to say everything to him.

He took a deep breath and spoke. "... Can I refuse to answer that?"

Yang Yueran paused but shrugged his shoulders, looking as if he didn’t mind and care about that rejection.

"Will it be dangerous for you?" He asked instead again after another few seconds of silence between them.

Danger? Feng Rouyun shakes his head. "It will not."

"That’s good. What about its properties? Do you have something that affects it that we must avoid or need to do?"

Feng Rouyun was becoming more and more surprised by how attentive Yang Yueran was to him, or rather to his ability.

"Using too much energy can indeed exhaust me. A rest will be fine but what I’m actually worrying about is how to replenish it." He answered truthfully. Until now he couldn’t figure out what to do about this because the energy hasn’t gone back well on him.

Last night he used an amount again for Gu Weiyi and Yang Yueran. The latter even went to his room and even after a night’s rest, the energy inside him didn’t come back fully.

Since they already know about this, he might as well tell him the truth.

This was also the least thing he could do. He knew that they must be feeling unfair because this deal is in favor of him. As long as they need his spiritual energy, they won’t force him out of the group.

Lying was actually his biggest advantage. He can just lie that everything is under his control and for as long as he wants, he can come out with excuses to them.

But he won’t lie.

One was lying was never his nature and two was because he really wanted to integrate in the group. Whether this was just about a deal relationship, he wants them to see his sincerity.

Thus he chose honestly.

"I need to replenish my energy. In the past, I’ve used minerals like gems and other crystals and stuff. They provided natural energy that helps me. However it somehow just disappeared." Feng Rouyun’s face flashes with worry. "No matter how I tried those again, there’s no use."

Minerals? Yang Yueran fell into deep thoughts.

These things came from a natural occurrence of the Earth. It was not made by humans or other living things but just existed from the Earth itself.

"Do polish minerals and just organic ones have the same energy?"

Feng Rouyun nodded but also shook his head. "It does but there are differences. Unpolished ones are the finest."

Because raw minerals are cleaner and untouched by many.

However if these things are not the same right now, how could they find it again?

Yang Yueran went to his room and tried to give the young man jewelry with real gems but the latter just shook his head disappointedly.

This made the two fall into another silence. Both begin thinking what might be the reasons for this and how they can replenish his power.

Just as they were doing this, the door abruptly opened and Chu Xining entered the room.

He looks like he just came out from the hospital and didn’t even bother to change. It’s obvious that he knew about Yang Yueran’s decision and wanted to confront him again.

The young man wanted to speak but Feng Rouyun interrupted him.

"Wait." A sense of bewilderment and doubt flashed in his eyes as he stared at the thing in Chu Xining’s eyes.

"What?!" Chu Xining barked but Feng Rouyun didn’t answer. His eyes continue to stare and they can see the expressions on his face.

From the initial confusion to disbelief and then to with strange excitement.

"!!!" Feng Rouyun was really astonished.

He could feel it! That potted plant that Chu Xining was holding has the same feeling of energy from the minerals in the past!

That potted plant can help him replenish spiritual energy!
