Chapter 39: Expose

Chapter 39: Expose

"Are you sure you won’t go with us?" Yang Yueran asked Feng Rouyun. It was already nine in the evening and the practice time was over. They are planning to go back to the dorm but Feng Rouyun wanted to stay longer to practice.

"Yes." Feng Rouyun was firm and determined not to go home unless he’ll learn what he has to tonight, no matter what time he’ll go home later, or even never given how he felt he must do to make things right.

"Alright." Seeing his attitude, he knew that he could not persuade him so they left the practice room.

Chu Xining’s face flashed a little hesitation and Yang Yueran noticed it right away so he patted the latter’s shoulder.

"You don’t have to think guilty for leaving early. We still have a schedule tomorrow."

Chu Xining’s face turned red immediately and he scoffed childishly. "Who said I am?! I’m not doing anything even if he stays there forever!"

Gu Weiyi quickly teased him. "Yo! Our A’Xi is getting generous! Ah," he exaggeratedly put his hand on his chest and acted as if he was proud. "I can’t believe that there’ll be a day that A’Xi will take initiative on doing good deeds. Very well, you surely are now growing up, Son."

Chu Xining’s temper quickly rushed upwards. "What son?! I’m your Dad!"

And the two just start bickering again while walking towards the private parking lot. Yang Yueran let them be, his face remained calm amidst the noise and it was clear that he was very used to this. What’s on his mind right now was the young man left in the building.

Actually, Chu Xining’s idea was very good. They could just stay inside and maybe practice with him. However he knew that there are times that one doesn’t need help. For example, right now, Feng Rouyun might look like he needs them but actually, he saw it in his eyes that he wanted to do that alone.

Just like what he noticed about him, they have the same stubbornness and only themselves can get through it.

....

Yang Yueran was absolutely right. When they left, Feng Rouyun wasted no time and continued practicing again and again. Now that he’s alone, his focus was more concentrated and all he could hear aside from the music playing was the loud beating of his heart.

He tries his best to move with the rhythm and execute all the movements well.

But he still felt that it wasn’t enough.

He couldn’t still apply what Gu Weiyi wanted him to find. What was his style? How can he find his way to be different from other people? Or even if he could find it, is it suitable for the group?

He still doesn’t know until now even after hours of unending practice so right now, Feng Rouyun’s movements just actually get worse.

The frustrations built up inside him that it totally disrupted his movements to align with the song and undoubtedly, he began getting anxious and stumbled on the steps.

Feng Rouyun subconsciously wanted to quickly execute a movement by moving his feet but fe forgot that his other feet was on the way, he bumped it together and it was already too late that he stumbled and fell off his balance. He went straight down to the floor and winced at the impact.

This probably cut the tie inside his mind and the exhaustion that he’s been denying to feel earlier was like how a professional boxer punched him, very quickly and instantly took effect on him. His body was weary and heavy that he could only lay his body on the floor, not minding its coldness seeping on his sweaty back.

Feng Rouyun opened his lips and took a heavy breath. All the remaining strength inside him was hollowed out from his body. His heart wants to get out from his chest due to its loud beating and he just feels a dull ache on his ribcage every time he’s breathing. He’s totally worn out now.

Yet despite this, he ignored the pain and he focused on replaying Gu Weiyi’s performance inside his mind. He remembers the feeling when he watched him personally dance and the message the latter said when their eyes met.

"Every member of Ellipsis has their own way of being an artist— no, actually everyone is different. No matter if they are performing together, as a group or even as a solo, every individual has their own style on the stage."

"What about you? What is your style as an artist, Feng Rouyun?"

What about him?

Gu Weiyi told him that every individual possesses their own way of style, what about him? Or just rather, how could he become an individual— an artist?

Feng Rouyun never had this kind of passion before. In the past, he only wanted to play around when he was a child, after that, everyone just laid out what path he must follow. There was no room to object or think about other things.

Even from the start in this new life, he didn’t choose this path. Yes, he did choose to stay but if the original Feng Riuyun accepted another offer instead of being an idol, would he also try to be like that too? Feng Rouyun asked himself and knew that it was indeed a yes.

No matter what path the original Feng Rouyun took, he will just also follow it.

As long as he could feel the freedom that he had long wanted to feel just like back when he was a child.

Did he feel that now? He also doesn’t know.

Feng Rouyun exhales a loud breath. This was like putting another layer of things to frustrate again.

He rested this way for minutes before he dragged his body to stand up. He went to his phone to turn on the music again when he saw a notification pop up on his screen.

It was about Ellipsis.

Ru Anyan helped him to register an account in Weibo and he had followed the group. He also watched many things about them so his algorithm is just all about Ellipsis. Thus when he read that, he thought it was just an ordinary post again and he was about to swipe it clear when he accidentally just clicked on that.

And when he wanted to exit it, he was stunned when he happened to read the post.

It’s about him.

A new post that quickly gained attention from the mass was about the new member of Ellipsis. Just because everyone was intrigued by those eyes revealed, many had been on standby to watch for any news about him.

And there it was.

It was a video that he was very familiar with.

The video was a bit short and it seems that whoever filmed that was only doing secretary given how the people in the video don’t show any face.

They looked like they were in a meeting and he saw someone stood up. That young man only showed half his body, from chest down and he was holding a paper, showing his slender hands.

However Feng Rouyun was very familiar with this scenario.

And just like what happened back then, in the next second he heard someone start singing.

It was him. That day when Yang Yueran asked him to perform on the spot in front of everyone.
