Chapter 23: New Dorm

"This is your new place." Ru Anyan announced when she opened the door of the new dorm the four of them would live together starting now.

"...." Only an awkward silence answered her but Ru Anyan acted as if there was nothing wrong and just continued explaining the place.

"There’s a huge living room here and the kitchen is over there. For more security and privacy, the company decided to add a small gym room at the innermost part of the room." Ru Anyan explains and they drop the things first on the side to have a small meeting.

"Now, we’re arranging your rooms. You’ll have individual rooms too with bathrooms inside."

"I want a room far from him." Chu Xining didn’t really bother to hide his unwillingness until now and directly stated his condition. And seeing the other two, she also knew that they wanted too.

Unfortunately for them this dorm isn’t that ’huge’ to put a large distance on their rooms.

Ru Anyan forced a smile. "Too bad for you but the rooms are just beside each other. Two on the left and two on the right. And they’re just facing each other."

"Then where’s his room?" Gu Weiyi asked while pointing at Feng Rouyun.

"You’re letting him choose first?" Ru Anyan’s brow raised a bit in surprise.

"Sure." Chu Xining didn’t even rebuke it too and sounds casual.

"Rouyun, what room do you want?" She quickly turns to the young man and nods at him with encouragement to really choose first.

Feng Rouyun looked at the three and just casually picked one. "Just that second room on the right side then."

Ru Anyan smiles. Just as she was feeling happy that maybe the other guys are being considerate to Feng Rouyun, the next second slapped her in the face.

"I want the first room on the left side!" The three even said it in chorus.

"???" At first, Ru Anyan was confused upon hearing them suddenly wanting the same room but after seconds she realizes what they meant.

Isn’t this just that room is the most "far away" from Rouyun’s room? Then they’re just implying something!

"Why... Why do you want that room specifically?" But she gave them a chane and was frantically hoping for the answer she’s thinking, unfortunately she just dreamed too highly today.

"I want that room because if I open my room, it’s not his room I’ll face immediately." Chu Xining bluntly spoke without hesitation and before everyone could react, he quickly grabbed his backpack on the side and ran through the room.

"Hey!" Gu Weiyi reacted but it was already too late to stop the latter so he groaned and looked at Ru Anyan.

"I’ll take the room beside him." He pointed to Feng Rouyun. "So I won’t have to pass his room everyday." Then also left with his proud back.

Ru Anyan was dumbfounded at their remarks and felt her blood boil in anger.

She took a deep breath and forced a smile to Yang Yueran, signalling him frantically in his eyes to stop saying anything bad too.

Yang Yueran didn’t say anything and just grabbed his things. Just as they thought he’ll just quietly go to his room, he stops in front of Feng Rouyun and actually stretches his hand towards the latter.

"!!!" Both Ru Anyan and the young man were surprised at his action.

"Since we’re already here, then I hope you won’t disappoint us again." Yang Yueran offered his hand for another handshake.

"...." Feng Rouyun was silent and stared at his outreach hand before clasping it too.

Yang Yueran looked at their hands and he subconsciously held his breath. He could feel the young man’s hand is a bit rough from calluses even though it’s still a bit soft. His hand was smaller than his and even looked delicate, especially those slender fingers and small wrist.

But that’s it.

He frowned but hid the confusion inside him. He still waited for a few seconds but after that, he let it go and went to the room, acting as if what he did was just normal and casual.

Yet when he closed his door, he raised his hand and stared at his palm, with confusion finally plastered on his eyes.

... It’s not the same as last time.

It was not the same feeling when he shook hands with Feng Rouyun the first time.

Was it just an illusion?

Still, why could he just remember that until now? Why could he still feel it?

Yang Yueran felt like he was surrounded by the large and wide grass field. The sun was basking just perfectly hot above him and the wind was brushing on him, making his mind clear. The headaches after staying late all night and the aches on his body after practicing for hours that he couldn’t count fades— leaving him with nothing but relief and freshness.

If it was just his hallucination, why could he remember it?

Or even so, why would he even associate that feeling with Feng Rouyun? Just because he felt that when they shook hands, that doesn’t mean that the young man did that. That’s purely fantastical, isn’t it?

And if that’s so, how’s that a matter to him? So what if he could really do that?

Yang Yueran repeated those thoughts inside his head and his eyes narrowed, with deep unknown thoughts circulating inside his mind.

On the other side, Ru Anyan escorted Feng Rouyun to his room and began nagging her about many things.

"You’ll just be here alone with them but I’m doubting if they’ll help you so I’ll remind you a few things while you’re here." Ru Anyan helps him unpack his clothes and hang them on the cabinet one by one.

"The staff had already stocked some supplies in the kitchen so you can just go there and grab what you want. If you want to cook your own food, there’s fresh ingredients there but if not, there’s also ready-made cooked meals wherein you just have to put them in the microwave. For the laundry, just put this on the two baskets in your bathroom. One blue for colored clothes and the white basket was for white clothes."

Feng Rouyun remained silent and just listened to her, also nodding obediently to assure her.

"The company also decided to give you a two day break so you can stay here and rest. The new album has been finalized so you’ll be very busy after that. If you’re bored, there’s phone and television, just tone down the volume, okay? Chu Xining doesn’t like that." She sighs and looks at him worriedly. "It’s not that I’m forbidding you to move freely but things are not just fine for now and this is to avoid trouble, can you do that?"
