[BL] Debut on Earth After Retiring as the Healer of Interstellar

Chapter 19: A Choice

Chapter 19: A Choice

When was the time that Feng Rouyun had the courage to decide what he wanted? Maybe that time when he decided to slip over his practice and go out home to play.

There was a time in his early age when he tried to rebel for the first time.

Feng Rouyun is envious of the other children around him.

When he was still too young, he was in the orphanage and had a very ordinary life. He was one of the children who’s very silent and obedient too. But there were no restrictions on them.

Everyday he can spend his time playing without anyone lecturing him about whatever he wants. The orphanage couldn’t support them all to school anyway and he also gave up that opportunity to others.

So all he did was to play and play, like an ordinary one.

Until when the officials became desperate to find any people that had potential to be a healer, they searched every corner in the world to gather them all, and of the places they went was the orphanage.

They tested him and his results were something unmeasurable for them.

For a very young age, he had the highest potential among all the people they tested.

Feng Rouyun was then adopted by the grandmaster of the Feng family and his life drastically changed.

He can no longer play outside or even have the choice of what he wants. He has to study many things and be aware of things that’s usually beyond what a child has to learn at their age.

Now all he has to do is to learn all the properties and ways to become stronger in order to help everyone.

At the beginning, he couldn’t understand. After all he was just a young ignorant child.

Being deprived by what made him happy completely triggers his small rebellion and for the first time he went out without permission.

That was also the first time he longed for freedom and the immense satisfaction that he felt when he achieved that.

His innocent smile and the sparkle on his eyes came again. His laughter echoes while running around even if it was just him playing alone.

That young heart didn’t expect the immense satisfaction after letting himself go again.

But he was reprimanded at the end. He was scolded and to give him a lesson, he was taken to the frontline for self-reflection.

And for the first time again, he finally saw the reality.

He also once saw the soldier whom he met that went to the orphanage and sent him to his new family. He remembered that man was very gentle to him, talking non-stop just to ease his anxiety.

But he died.

Not because of the zergs but due to the endless pain of riot.

Feng Rouyun saw the cruelty and how mental pollution easily erases their lives.

Those moments where the truth lies in front of him mercilessly.

He couldn’t stop practicing— he mustn’t. He must not stop growing stronger for these people who keep on fighting the world.

Thus, Feng Rouyun became more obedient. He left the toys and all the things unrelated to his future role and just buried himself deeply in it.

He succeeded though and he never regretted that choice.

It was the choice that saved many people. It was the role that he is willing to take responsibility for.

As for that pain he once felt, Feng Rouyun had long forgotten about it until this time.

Facing this, Feng Rouyun felt that the child inside him was drugged out from the pit.

He felt like that child again who faces a choice he must make.

And after thinking about it, he decides to quit.

It’s just easy, isn’t it? Like how he did well last time.

Like how he turned back to freedom and embraced a responsibility that he knew he had to for the people around him.

It’s still like this now. Giving up a place where he wasn’t supposed to be for everyone’s peace of mind.

"Then I’ll quit." he uttered those words while at the same time, the ache on his heart worsened.

"!!!!"

"...."

Everyone around him was dumbfounded at his words. Ru Anyan stopped her actions to save him whereas Chu Xining’s eyes widened and his grip on him subconsciously loosened.

"I-I’ll quit..." he mastered the courage again to repeat those words yet his voice betrayed him. The stutters gave the real emotion inside him.

At the same time, he also saw the dark cloud above Chu Xining’s head grumble— as if something beastly awakened.

He hastily raised his hand and touched Chu Xining’s hand as if he just wanted to grab the latter for holding him.

He let the spiritual energy inside him flow steadily to Chu Xining and stared at the young man quietly. He wanted to observe how the mental pollution decreased on him.

Unknown to him, as Chu Xining felt the latter’s hand on his, he subconsciously frowned when he noticed that the young man didn’t seem to intend to remove his hand on his collar but just merely placing it on him.

What is he doing?

He found it weird and was about to let him go to focus on the words he spoke when a breeze suddenly flashes through him.

He paused because he felt that the wind was different. Not due to some paranormal activity but when it brushes on his skin, a mysterious wave seems to put his raging fire out.

Like simply blowing the fire on the candle in front of him.

The anger just abruptly stopped and the blood boiling inside him calmed down. He was very surprised though. Anger cannot just disappear like a popped balloon. It’s not something that can just be switched on and off for however you like.

One has to calm down bit by bit to achieve it especially in his situation right now.

But Chu Xining couldn’t feel it.

It was like a thread being cut off and he was left here completely dumbfounded at the sudden feelings he’s having.

And before he could think about it further, another breeze of cool air brushes on him again. This time, he could feel an unfamiliar soothing energy surrounding him bit by bit.

A gentle caress seems to be patting his back, sending comfort and tenderness... something that Chu Xining didn’t experience all throughout his life.

What is this?

Chu Xining went in a daze as he was pulled to a mysterious energy.

All this happened for a few seconds and when Feng Rouyun wanted to withdraw his hand upon noticing Chu Xining’s anger had calmed down, a voice interrupted them.

"You can’t quit."
