I felt like my heart would rip out of my chest at any moment.

It was the kind of embarrassment I don’t think I have ever felt in my life.

Even he looked like he had seen something deadly.

"What the heck is wrong with you?" I screamed again, covering my chest with my hands.

I could see him looking at me so hungrily.

"Can you at least turn around, you shameless prick?" I hissed at him, and that was when he finally snapped out of it and turned his back to me.

"You could have just turned around yourself," he argued, even with his back still facing me.

I hastily grabbed my clothes, trying to put them on as quickly as possible. I was so embarrassed, but thankfully I managed to cover myself fast.

"Well, I couldn’t, especially when I was afraid you’d see my behind," I muttered, realizing I still had my panties on.

"Your behind? You can’t even say the word. What are you, nine?" he growled, making me glare at his back.

The good thing about him facing away was that I could glare and roll my eyes all I wanted without starting another argument.

"Now, are you done or not?" he questioned.

I was about to say I was almost done, but I decided to pick up my bra from the floor first.

However, the moment I straightened my back, I saw him turn around and place his hands on his waist.

"I was going to say I’d be done in a minute. Why did you turn around before that?" I complained, even though I was fully dressed now.

"So you were dressed up, but didn’t say it because you wanted to stare at my behind now?"

His comment caught me off guard. I stared at his face in disbelief before bursting out laughing.

"Wow, you really think too much of yourself, don’t you?" I hissed, folding my arms over my chest.

But then his judgmental eyes softened, and a smirk curved his lips, breaking my confidence. I awkwardly turned slightly away from him.

"What the heck are you even doing in my room?" I broke the silence again, realizing the quieter we stayed, the more awkward it became.

"I came here to wash my hands. I didn’t know you were desperately waiting for me," he said, making me clench my fists in anger.

Wow, he had some nerve. He really did.

"Anyway, you’ve had dinner, now you may leave," I hissed, still facing away from him.

He began to stroll toward me, looking as cocky as ever. When he reached me, he stopped and smirked even wider.

"Your boyfriend didn’t come home?" he started, making my fists tighten, though silence was my only weapon.

"What happened? You don’t like anyone mentioning your boyfriend?" he teased, then leaned down a little, and I instinctively straightened my back to see what he was doing.

"You know, Iris," he murmured, leaning closer until he was at my face level, "looking at you and your body, I don’t think you’ve been taken care of."

As those words left his mouth in the most seductive tone, my heart skipped a beat.

I gasped and stepped back, feeling completely awkward.

"What the hell do you mean by that?" I tried to sound angry so he’d just shut up, but Kash wasn’t afraid of anything or anyone.

He didn’t care if he made someone feel awkward or uncomfortable.

"Your boyfriend is a loser. That’s what I’m saying," he remarked, making a small yelp escape my lips, though my body stayed still for the rest of it.

"Because if you were still with me, you wouldn’t be spending these nights alone."

The way he held eye contact when saying that, then tilted his head slightly to give me a full glance before scoffing, nearly killed me.

I wished I had gathered the courage to retort, to argue, to remind him that I would have been with him if I hadn’t been with someone else.

But I couldn’t, and I think he waited for me to respond.

Once he noticed how speechless I was, he began to walk past me. It wasn’t until he was nearing the door that I finally found the courage to speak.

"When I was with you, you were entertaining someone else. So let’s not talk about how capable you are."

Thankfully, I managed to push those words out, and he stopped dead in his tracks. He didn’t turn around, though of course he wouldn’t now.

I noticed the tension in his body before he continued walking away.

Once he opened the door and walked out, I quickly ran after him, not to talk, but just to make sure he was actually leaving this time.

I watched him slow down near his kid’s bedroom and touch the door before walking away at full speed.

Even I slowed down, watching him do that.

It broke my heart because all this could have been avoided if he’d stayed loyal. But I guess heart wants what it wants, and he wants Lara.

Once he was out the door, I rushed to lock it. Instead of going back to my room, I decided to visit my mother.

Her bedroom door was already open, and she was sitting by the window, reading a book with a glass of wine in her hand.

When I stormed inside, arms folded over my chest, she smiled without looking up from her book.

"Did something happen between the two of you?" my mother asked.

"That’s not what I’m here for," I replied. She probably thought I’d come to tell her about my interaction with Kash.

"Then what are you here for? You’re not the daughter who comes to sit with her mother?" she teased, raising her head from the book, that phony smile still on her lips.

"Well, you’re not the kind of mother any daughter would want to sit with either," I shot back, hitting her where it hurt, but I doubted it did.

If it had, she wouldn’t have done what she did to me in the first place.

"What is it? What brought you here?" she pressed, now that she wasn’t getting the answers she wanted.

"Why did you tell Kash about Luca before talking to me? Now all he talks about is Luca, and he’s eager to meet him. How the heck can you introduce some character into the game and then not have him around?" I snapped almost immediately, annoyed because there was never a need for Luca in the first place.

But I guess my mother only introduced him to make sure there was no chance of reconciliation between Kash and me.

At the same time, she wanted enough tension for things to keep going for him to keep coming back for his children.

However, the bewildered look on my mother’s face told me I was in for a surprise.

"I never told him about Luca," my mother snapped, wrinkling her nose.
