There was a clear look of shock on my mother’s face. Even I could not fully understand what had just happened. This was the first time my father had raised his voice at her, and she seemed to realize it. His actions were forceful, openly aggressive.

"What are you talking about?" my mother complained, before her eyes landed on me. "Oh, I understand. You are talking about that bluff I made with her?"

She started to laugh.

"Of course I was not going to spread those videos. She is my daughter. She is a princess. I would never do that to her legacy."

My mother began to twitch. She was clearly unsettled.

My father shook his head at her.

"The fact that you terrorized a princess," he said, "that you made warriors stand there and record her. Did you not understand what impact that would have on her life? People will think it is acceptable to walk all over her, because her own mother did it."

He was shouting now, while my mother remained seated. It was an unusual sight, and everyone around us gasped.

"Honey, can we talk about this?" my mother said. "Not in front of everyone. This is making me feel disrespected."

"Me shouting at you is disrespectful because there are three people present?" my father replied. "But it was not disrespectful when it was done to my daughter?"

Each time he referred to me as his daughter, more tears gathered in my eyes.

"The only reason I allowed you to do whatever you wanted until now," he continued, "was because I believed you were doing it for our children. But this showed me that you have a favorite. And I will never allow that."

My father yelled, and for the first time, my mother’s eyes watered.

"And as for the phones and the videos," my father paused, gesturing to the maids.

Another set of trays was brought forward. On them were cell phones, broken and burned.

"They are gone," my father said. "Destroyed."

Then he turned to Luca.

"And you are lucky, young man," he warned. "You were passed out that night. Otherwise, there would have been another set of eyeballs here."

His frustration was not hidden from anyone.

As he stood there, demanding silence, I pushed my chair back and rushed toward him. He pulled me into a hug immediately.

"I am deeply disappointed in myself, my daughter," he said, patting my back. "But worry not. Nothing will ever happen to you."

"You are taking this the wrong way," my mother protested. "I am your mate. How can you think I would do this to my child?"

My father raised his palm, silencing her.

I stepped out of his embrace and turned to face her.

"Fighters," my father ordered, "take her back to her room. She will eat there."

He looked at her coldly.

"She has caused enough damage to my family that I am beginning to question whether I chose the right mate."

My mother’s eyes widened.

"Take her away," my father shouted.

The fighters moved immediately.

Then he turned to Luca and his father.

"And you," he said, "will eat with your son at your own home from now on. I do not want anyone around my daughter who has played games with her."

They rose silently from the table and left without a word.

Once everyone was gone and I faced my father, I noticed tears in his eyes.

"There is one person who is guiltier than all of them," my father said quietly. "That is me."

He exhaled.

"I wish I had been more present for you. You used to tell me your mother had lost her mind, and I never believed you. I punished you. It started with me. If I had set my foot down, you would not have suffered so much."

He lifted his hand and gently patted my cheek.

"I cannot even be your hero," he continued. "Because the one who started all this does not deserve redemption so easily. But I can promise you a better future."

His words meant more than I expected. Despite our history, despite how absent he had been, they still mattered. That is what happens when someone has been hurt for a long time.

"Have a seat," my father said. "We will have lunch. Clean this area and bring the food out. And bring the children. I want to be with my grandchildren now."

It was the first time he had spoken about my children like that.

I had seen him try before, offering chocolates or small gestures, but only when my mother was not around. Almost as if he had been afraid of how she would react.

Now, he was no longer holding back.

And for the first time, neither was I.

As soon as my children arrived, my father opened his arms to them. He made Amy sit on his right side, in the seat where my mother used to sit. He spoke with them easily, and they responded just as happily.

That was when I said it.

"I want my child unlinked from my brother."

The room fell silent.

"Consider it done," my father replied. "But your mother has to suffer first."

I did not understand what he meant, but I nodded.

Then he added, "And you will be crowned queen first, before Wilson wakes up.""Me, a queen?" I asked my father, confused. "I thought Mother wanted Wilson to be king."

My father shook his head and took a bite of his steak.

"Wilson has been sleeping for years," he said. "What does he know about the kingdom or leading fighters? Besides, you are the one saving his life. You did everything alone."

He paused briefly.

"That makes you the perfect leader. We will crown you first. Your brother will wake under your ruling, so he knows who the queen is."

The change in him was shocking. Still, he could not meet my eyes, which felt like an admission of guilt. At least someone finally saw how wrong my mother had been.

I had one more thing to say.

I straightened my posture and tapped my fingers on the table.

"And I want to go to war with the werewolves."

The moment I said it, my father snapped his head toward me. Fear flickered in his eyes, as if he had never imagined I could become this person too.
