"It seems you forgot that my son has another Luna who is pregnant," she continued, sounding smug. "Do you not understand that you need to win our hearts more than ever? You are in a competition now."

I watched her in silence before offering her a smile.

"No, not at all," I replied calmly. "I was the one who told Kash to let Lara stay here. I am against throwing out a pregnant woman." I paused to smile for her.

"I suppose we can remain one happy family."

The moment I said that, I saw Lady Vivian’s color drain.

"You made that decision?" she asked, placing a hand on her chest as if she might collapse.

"Why is it so hard for you to believe that I suggested Kash not kick Lara out?" I asked, dragging the topic because she looked disturbed, and I liked what I was seeing.

"You are probably lying," she accused. "You must have fallen at his feet, cried, and begged him to kick her out. When he refused, you decided to tell everyone it was your decision so you could save face."

His mother projected her insecurities onto me. She tried to form a smug smile, but the calmer I remained, the more anxious she became.

"I feel bad for you," I remarked, stepping closer. "But if you want to believe your son made that decision, that is fine." I let out a deep sigh, watching his mother twitch her eyes.

"I told him not to tell Lara. I was the one who made that decision because she is pregnant and I do not want any stress affecting her health." My voice carried a hint of satisfaction.

"I hope you understand. It is better if we keep a pleasant atmosphere for her these days. Let’s not fight."

I placed my hand on her shoulder. She jerked it off and stepped away, visibly offended.

Now that I was saying the same things she had been saying, she looked outraged. She wanted me to cry and suffer, but I would not give her that satisfaction.

"Anyway, I will be in my room," I said, turning toward the door. "I hope you will have some fruits and juices prepared for Lara as well. She needs to eat healthy."

I walked out of the kitchen, leaving her behind. She would have forced me to take care of Lara, but once I declared that I wanted to care for her and that we all should, she no longer seemed interested.

Once I stepped out of the kitchen, I saw Markus coming out of his room. He looked furious until he noticed me, and a smirk spread across his face.

"We have not spoken in a while," he remarked, brushing past me.

I slowed, then stopped and turned toward him. For a few seconds, I stared at him, and his smirk widened.

"Do not forget, I am your sister in law’s husband," he added, making me roll my eyes.

The reason I stared at him was to understand myself. I used to be terrified of this man.

Whenever he was in the mansion, I would stay in my room because I knew he could get me into trouble. He would do something reckless and then blame me in front of Zoe and her mother.

"No, I was just trying to see if there is any ounce of shame in you," I replied.

The moment I said that, his smile disappeared.

"Usually, a man who does not earn or do anything keeps his eyes lowered," I continued. "Even a woman who cannot accomplish anything in her life would at least feel concerned for herself."

"But when I look at you, I wonder what is wrong with you. You must have been born without a spine, do you not think?"

My words made his jaw clench, and his eyes narrowed at me.

"I hope you are not forgetting who I am," he warned, taking a step toward me.

Usually, I would retreat. He would take one step forward, and I would move a mile away.

This time, I did not budge. He stopped in his tracks.

I caught a flicker of confusion and slight defeat on his face, though he tried to mask it.

"Of course, I remember who you are," I replied. "There is not much to you. You are just his husband."

His body twitched and his eyes married to me.

"But I hope you are not forgetting that I am the Luna Queen, the one Kash loves most," I continued, watching realization settle in as he understood that I knew my worth and how to stand my ground.

I was not the same woman they used to bully.

Before he could speak again, likely to remind me that Lara was pregnant and would soon give birth, I cut him off.

"Look, I even made him let Lara stay. That should tell you something about my hold on him."

I had already crushed his next attempt to make me feel insecure.

"Easy. I am not your enemy," he said. "Anyway, since you are already excited about your husband’s new child, I will give you a tip."

He folded his hands behind his back.

"I think you should make amends with others," he continued. "Who knows which child will rise next to claim the crown?"

As he started to leave, he suddenly stopped. He staggered as if he were about to fall and grabbed my arms to steady himself.

It happened quickly. I did not have time to shove him away.

He stepped back at once, acting as if it had been an accident.

"Oops, I am so sorry. I am so clumsy, but thank you for holding me," he whispered in a tone that sounded strange enough that anyone watching might think we were discussing something private.

As that thought crossed my mind, I glanced around to check my surroundings.

Then I turned to the side and saw Lady Vivian standing there, watching us with her eyes wide open.
