The minute we said the vows and I marked her, I began to look through the crowd. When I did not see Iris or my children, I let out a deep breath of relief.

So she listened to me. That meant the game was on. Our plan was working. I was glad because for a moment I thought she was not in on a plan with me. I

was beginning to wonder if she was even aware of it or agreed with me. But once she was gone, I was somewhat at ease.

"I cannot believe we are finally going to be having sex as a married couple. I am so excited," Lara remarked, rubbing her hands as she stood in a completely new bedroom."About that," I cleared my throat, loosening my tie.

"I have been having some dreams, and in those dreams, I saw that if I stayed for three full moons after our marriage, we would never be apart," I told her, watching her frown at me.

"What does that mean?" she questioned.

"I mean, it is a kind of dream that you have as an alpha when you are getting married, and you can see your future. I saw that if we had sex now, our marriage would end very soon," I explained.

The minute I said those words, I saw the horror in her eyes.

"But if we stay for three full moons without touching each other, we will be blessed with a forever bond," I added, pulling the lie out of my pocket.

But it had been planned. I had backed it up with some research too.

"Is it like that red bond thing?" she asked.

Just as expected of her. Of course, she knew about it. It was a very old and ancient myth.

A lot of people, mostly alphas, had claimed that when they were getting married, they saw this dream.

And if they waited for three full moons, they were blessed with healthy, powerful children and lived a happy life.

But if they did not wait, they separated very soon. Either one of them died, or something else happened.

"It is just three full moons. We have waited very long," I told her.

Of course, Lara was superstitious. She quickly agreed, but I could tell she was really upset."Why did we not go into your old bedroom though?" she questioned next, turning toward me while taking off her jewelry.

We had a whole day of dancing, cutting cake, and all that nonsense. And then I returned to my room.

Actually, a new room.

"I did not want the old bedroom to be in use. It is now locked up," I replied.

Of course it was locked up. It was mine and Iris’s bedroom. I knew Iris would kill me if she found out I took Lara there.

"Oh yeah, it is okay. I will have this one," Lara replied happily as she stood by the window, staring outside.

Of course, she had no clue why I liked this bedroom. I could look at the guest house from here.

Lara quickly went into the bathroom to change while I checked my phone. There were still no new messages from Iris.

Flashback:

Saying all those hurtful things to Iris was not easy for me, but I had pointed at her phone to let her know to quickly check my text messages.

The minute she walked out of the room, the bathroom door opened and someone stepped out.

"I am impressed," Lord Ronald claimed.

I acted as if I had no clue he had been in the bathroom the whole time. Sadly, when Iris arrived to talk with me about everything, I already knew Lord Ronald was in the bathroom listening to us.

She almost exposed my truth to him as well. But I had been quick to change the subject.

And when I said that I was marrying Lara for love, and that I chose her over my children, that was for Lord Ronald to hear.

"When did you come to the bathroom?" I asked him, showing confusion.

"You were not around," he explained.

Then he smiled and strolled over to me, and gently patted my shoulder.

"I am proud of you. Truly speaking, I had a few fears before, but they are all gone now. I am happy that I chose a perfect man, not only for my daughter, but for my pack and the Blue River water," he explained.

I acted as if I had no clue what had just happened.

"Anyway, I will go get ready. I cannot wait for you to start taking care of the Blue River water," he added, stepping out of the room with a bright smile on his lips.

I quickly pulled out my phone and started to text Iris.

Me: I am so sorry for everything I said. Do not believe a single word. Lord Ronald was in the bathroom."

I sent the text, then started to smile. Then I wrote another message.

Me: And I knew there was no way you wanted to marry Luca. Trust me, I had my fears about your mother. I had a bad feeling she was doing something to you. I was keeping everything in mind, Iris. You thought Kash was busy getting married? No. You will find out why I am doing everything. And it all comes back to you.

I sent another message.

Later that night, while we were at dinner, I kept messaging Iris, telling her I missed her and all that. But at one point, I began to wonder why she was not responding to me.

She was not even reading my messages. When the fear took over, I decided to call her.

However, that was when her message arrived, and my smile brightened.

My life: I understand. I kind of figured out that he was in the bathroom. You did the right thing.

I let out a deep breath, smiling to myself.

"What is it?" Lara asked quickly. She must have noticed.

I hid my phone screen from her and gave her a smile. Her father kept telling stupid jokes throughout dinner, and I had to pretend I was laughing and found them funny.

That was when another message popped up.

My life: So you will get married tomorrow, and then what?

Me. And then I will make up an excuse for not sleeping with her. The rest, I will talk to you about once we are face to face.

I hit the send button and smiled to myself once again. It felt comforting to talk with Iris about our plans.

My life: Okay, then I will act like I am angry with you for getting married and all that.

Me: Yeah, and also try not to stay for the wedding scene. I do not want my children to see me get married to someone else and say vows to someone else. So please attend the wedding, but leave in the middle before everything ends. Can you do that for me?

I waited anxiously until her message arrived.

My life: Of course. I knew that was why you did not include them in any wedding ceremonies. You did the right thing. We will leave. I will be in the guest house.

That settled it. I was happy with the plan.

I was really happy with the plan until the bathroom door opened and Lara stepped out wearing lingerie.

"You know what I was thinking?" she asked in a low voice.

"What?" I asked in confusion.

"Who cares about the dreams? I believe our reunion is enough to tell the world that we are never going to be separated. I do not believe in any superstitions anymore."

The minute she said those words, I felt as if the world and the sky had fallen onto my head.

"Lara, it is about our future. I do not want to risk it," I told her, shaking my head while holding my phone and texting Walkin.

Me: The plan is not working. She is suddenly not believing in superstitions.

I sent the text, then turned to face her.

"No, I do not believe it. We are together, and that is enough," she replied, sounding stunned.

That was when there was a knock on the door, and I realized Walkin must have come to help me out of the situation.

I was already going to make up excuses, but him giving me one would be much better.

"Oh, wait a minute," I told Lara, quickly reaching the door and rolling my eyes.

As soon as I opened it, Walkin stood outside, looking disheveled. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

"There is a problem," he stated.

Since my back was toward Lara, I smiled in relief and gave him a look, thinking he had done a great job coming here.

"No, I really have a problem," Walkin said, putting pressure on his words, and my smile started to falter.

"What is it?" I asked him.

Then he said the words I could not even fathom, whether it was part of the plan to get Lara off my back or the universe crushing me.

"They are gone."
