From Beast Abilities to Sect Grand Master

"How is it?" Zhao Jia Rui stood up and asked with anticipation, holding on tightly to the disciple's hand.

"I.. Er..." The disciple stammered and shook her head.

"Tell me now, so we can do something about it." Zhao Jia Rui grasped tightly onto the disciple's hand.

"Lin Fan didn't register. He got here with the Qing Feng Sect and sat in the guest hall all along."

The disciple said as she lowered her head.

Zhao Jia Rui let go of the disciple's hand and sat back down onto the chair.

It was not to be.

She sighed and looked at her sword on the table again.

What would her master do if she were in this situation?

An outrageous thought then came across her mind.

Zhao Jia Rui looked up at the disciple and said, "I need you to help me."

She then stood up and took off her belt.

"Ah? What do you want me to do?" The disciple panicked as Zhao Jia Rui got her to sit down.

Moments later, in the open square.

A young man with a slim figure, wearing a straw hat and a black veil blocking his face appeared.

He joined in the queue and registered for the selection process.

Others in the queue saw his figure and weak physique.

So, they didn't take much notice, took a glance and got back to whatever they were doing.

When it was finally his turn, the disciple at the counter took his registration fee and asked, "What's your name please?"

The young man leaned forward and whispered, "Lin Fan from Qing Feng Sect."

In the guest hall.

The sect master of Yi Mei Sect finally appeared, and everyone stood up and greeted her.

"Welcome everyone." Mei Hong bowed and greeted her guests back.

She scanned across the guest hall and took a quick glance at the guests sitting at two sides of the guest hall.

The Storm Fist Thunder Sect was here.

The Clans from around the region were also here.

Even gangs like Wolves Gang and Seven Beast Gang were here.

And lastly, the Qing Feng Sect, the most powerful and largest sect in Quan Dynasty.

Mei Hong, however, frowned as she saw Lin Fan with his sect master.

Did he not register to be in the selection?

She knew Zhao Jia Rui's preference, but it seemed to not go in her favor.

Mei Hong couldn't possibly force Lin Fan to be in the selection.

She steadied herself from the little hiccup and she continued, "As everyone can see, there are a lot of suitors to be the future groom of my junior martial sister."

The doors to the guest hall opened and those who had registered to be in the selection started to stream into the guest hall.

Sect masters, clan masters and the gang masters sized their competition up for their sons or disciples.

Every one of these candidates was young and fit.

Most of them knew each other and what they were capable of.

They were all smiles when they saw Lin Fan in his corner with the Qing Feng Sect.

With Lin Fan out of the competition, they immediately had confidence in winning the selection.

"Where is my bride?"

"After paying so much, at least let me have a glimpse of her beauty!"

"Yes, I agree, and this shall be your final view of my wife."

The candidates started to demand the appearance of Zhao Jia Rui and jostled with each other trying to get to the front where Mei Hong was standing.

Seeing the commotion in front of her, Mei Hong looked over to the side at one of the elders.

The elder wanted to lash out at the young men showing such disrespect to Zhao Jia Rui, and indirectly to Yi Mei Sect.

But Mei Hong stopped her with her glance and the elder lowered her head and walked down the long corridor.

"While we wait for Zhao Jia Rui, let me brief you on the selection process.

"For the first round, you shall be matched up with opponents with the same cultivation level.

"And for the second round, winners from the first round shall have a match with each other at the same time, and the last man standing shall be the one."

The candidates heard Mei Hong and some weren't too pleased.

"What do you mean fighting each other at the same time?"

"Yeah, I don't see the point."

"Hmph. Naive. It's obviously a test of how you scheme and negotiate with different parties to be the last one standing."

One of the candidates with his arms crossed in front of his chest said and glanced over at Lin Fan.

A familiar sound erupted in Lin Fan's mind.

The Dark Lord in disguise didn't know about Lin Fan's system.

He was therefore confident of Lin Fan not being able to recognize him.

Lin Fan frowned and he remained calm, sipping his tea.

Zhang Yi Nian smiled and conveyed the message to Qing Yang Zi and Zhao Qing Ying.

They too also gave out a hearty laugh.

Their hunch was right, and it was time to get into action.

Qing Yang Zi took out a jade pendant and broke it in half.

All they had to do now was wait.

Qing Yang Zi sighed with a frown and looked over at Lin Fan.

If only Lin Fan had registered for the selection, then he could delay for time fighting the Dark Lord.

"What? She's mine!"

Zhao Jia Rui, who was among these men, stared at them under the veil.

She couldn't believe what she had heard.

The realization that one of these men might be her husband finally set in for her.

When 'Zhao Jia Rui' appeared with the elder, she was in her signature white robe, but she had a white veil covering her face.
