"I’m right, aren’t I?" Shen Shiye asked, grabbing Lü Tianci.

"You’re right. It’s not just your pollution value that’s off the charts; the rest of us are about to hit our limits too. Even using the highest-Level Spiritual Calming Potions can’t clear out the contaminants. Who knows, one day we might end up in the same situation you were in today," Lü Tianci said, his mood sinking.

Female Spirit Controllers in the Federation with a Spiritual Power Level of B-Class or higher were already rare. Most of them had numerous Contractors, and their attitude toward them was terrible. If it were just a bad attitude, that would be one thing, but the crucial point was that their Spiritual Power Values were all very low. For SSS-level Spirit Controllers like Lü Tianci and the others, their calming abilities were very limited.

"If Miss Ning hadn’t happened to be there for Shiye today, he probably wouldn’t have made it," another friend lamented.

"That’s impossible. Are you sure the test wasn’t faulty? Only deep calming could achieve that level of treatment efficiency."

"Even a Contractor capable of deep calming through a Spiritual Link Channel couldn’t purge that much pollution from another Contractor in one go. The testing machine must have malfunctioned. Don’t forget, Shen Shiye is an SSS-level Spirit Controller, and Miss Ning Xuan has no connection to him whatsoever," Lü Tianci said, shaking his head analytically.

"But I can’t be mistaken about how my own body feels! Look, look at Qinglin." With a wave of his hand, a palm-sized Green Flood Dragon appeared on his palm.

"How did it get so small? And its eyes are so clear... it doesn’t look ferocious like it used to at all. Is it because it’s smaller?" Lü Tianci asked.

"He always had the ability to change his form. It’s just that after my pollution value went past 30, that ability got suppressed. As the pollution value rose, my Companion Spirit became harder and harder to control. I haven’t been able to communicate with Qinglin this smoothly in years." Shen Shiye stroked the Green Flood Dragon’s head, and the creature actually cooperated by nuzzling against his palm.

"Qinglin’s eyes are much more lively than before," another friend said in surprise.

"Stop messing around, you guys. I’m serious," Shen Shiye said angrily.

Lü Tianci and the others all thought the same thing, though none of them said it aloud. ’I’m serious, too.’

"Shiye, there’s no point in overthinking it. At the meeting tomorrow, just find some time to ask the Marshal privately," someone urged.

’Let Shen Shiye test the Marshal’s attitude first. If the Marshal is open to it, then they can make their move too.’

Shen Shiye nodded firmly. "You’re right. I’ll go ask the Marshal tomorrow. He’s always been considerate of us. Maybe he’ll agree!"

Ying Yaoshi had no idea his subordinates were already plotting to get to Ning Xuan. He was kneeling before a table, a pen clutched in his hand. The blue veins on the back of his hand stood out clearly. Ying Yaoshi felt his fingers were incredibly stiff; holding a pen was much harder than holding a sword.

"Marshal, just look at this. What kind of copying is this?" Ning Xuan picked up the few pages Ying Yaoshi had finished. Although the handwriting was neat enough, the characters were of inconsistent sizes. Ning Xuan frowned in dissatisfaction. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

"Xuanyuan, these last few pages show obvious improvement. Take a look." Ying Yaoshi brought the later pages to the front. Indeed, they looked much tidier.

"I told you to copy the house rules, not just transcribe them. Aren’t you going to commit any of the content to memory?" Ning Xuan kicked Ying Yaoshi’s calf, chiding him.

Ying Yaoshi’s body stiffened. He didn’t particularly want to remember the contents. "I have failed to satisfy you. Please punish me, Lord Contract Master."

After only a moment’s hesitation, Ying Yaoshi gave Ning Xuan the answer she wanted.

Suddenly, a piercing alarm began to shriek. Hearing it, Ying Yaoshi’s eyes flashed with a cold light. His expression changed in an instant, his entire being becoming as sharp and dangerous as a newly unsheathed sword.

"There’s a situation. I have to go out. It’s getting late, you should get some rest," Ying Yaoshi said to Ning Xuan. He rose swiftly, changed his clothes, and headed for the command center.

Ning Xuan didn’t say much, only watching silently as he left the residence. From the look on Ying Yaoshi’s face just now, they were likely facing a serious problem.

When Ying Yaoshi entered the command center, Shen Shiye, Lü Tianci, and the others had also arrived. Although they had used energy to sober up, Ying Yaoshi’s sharp senses still caught the faint scent of alcohol on them.

Inside the conference room, a massive star chart was suspended in the center. On the chart, a red dot blinked incessantly at one location.

"Marshal, according to our monitoring, in approximately seven hours, wormhole A31 will reappear at the same location where it previously vanished," the head of the intelligence and monitoring department reported to him with a grave expression.

"A wormhole that reappears a second time will exhaust its energy and detonate. When that happens, the entire Star Domain will be affected by the blast’s energy," Ying Yaoshi said, his expression grim.

"Wormhole A31 is a level-one wormhole. If it detonates, the spatial stability of the entire Star Domain will be affected. Our base won’t be safe either," an officer said, his face etched with worry.

"We spent a massive amount of resources building this base. We have to find a way to stop the wormhole from detonating."
