Interstellar Farming: I Make Potions and Climb to the Top

Chapter 144: A Difficult Decision

Chapter 144

"Who created this mess? Who was it that didn’t take a human life seriously back then?" Zhu Hongying roared back.

"Every action has a consequence. Ning Xuan was incredibly lucky to have escaped with her life. If she hadn’t, Yun Han would be facing certain death today as well." Zhu Hongying hadn’t anticipated Ning Xuan’s rise to be so meteoric. The last time she’d gone to see Ning Xuan, the girl was just an unknown nobody who had recently qualified for residency on the Central Star. At the time, Zhu Hongying had believed she was approaching the matter with the utmost sincerity. In reality, from Ning Xuan’s perspective, her attitude had undoubtedly reeked of the arrogance of a great clan.

Ning Xuan had agreed to her request back then, perhaps because she felt pressured by the circumstances and didn’t want to make an enemy of her. Or maybe she was just playing along, curious about Yun Han’s condition. But now, in just a few short months, she had won the championship of the unrestricted division of the Alchemy Tournament.

The prestige of this year’s unrestricted division champion far surpassed that of any previous year. Her status was a world apart from what it once was. ’What kind of attitude can I possibly take with her now?’

’If I had known she had such potential back then, would I have approached her with more sincerity?’

"Then I’ll atone with my death, fine? I’ll go right now and die in front of her. Surely that will appease her anger!" Yun Tianye screamed, completely breaking down.

"Calm down and stop talking nonsense! That wouldn’t be atoning for your sins; that would be trying to force her hand. If you actually died, it would make it even less likely she’d save Yun Han," Zhu Hongying said irritably, taking a deep breath.

"You already have a plan, don’t you? What is it you want to do? Just say it. With Yun Han’s condition, we can’t afford any more delays." Yun Tianye gradually regained his composure as he looked at Zhu Hongying’s collected expression.

"If we want Yun Han to have a fighting chance, we have to send him to Ning Xuan’s villa on Qingluan Mountain, where she’s currently living," Zhu Hongying said, staring intently at Yun Tianye.

"But if we send him to her, will she even save him? What if she refuses?"

"That’s a possibility," Zhu Hongying acknowledged with a nod.

"..."

"Even if I agree... with his current condition, what if something goes wrong on the way?" Yun Han’s vital signs were only stable because he was in a highly controlled environment with specific requirements for ambient energy flow.

"You don’t need to worry about that. I’ll take care of his safety during the transport. You just need to think this through. Once we send him to her, you must act as though you no longer have a son. Whether he lives or dies, he will be nothing more than Ning Xuan’s Contracted Slave, completely unrelated to us," Zhu Hongying said, her tone resolute.

"No! I went through hell to bring that boy into this world! I’ve raised him for all these years. Why should I be the one to give him up?" Yun Tianye cried, his composure shattering again. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

"Then you can just stay here and watch him. Watch his Life Force dwindle until he dies," Zhu Hongying said with a disappointed sigh.

"Yun Han is your son too! How can you be so heartless?"

"I’ve explored every option I can think of. I’ve done everything in my power. Now, the choice is yours."

As the two were arguing, Yun Zhen and Yun Ji came running with a message. "Uncle, Aunt! It’s not good with Yun Han! The master said he can’t be saved! Uncle Zhu said you should go and see him at once!"

The moment she heard this, Zhu Hongying sprinted toward Yun Han’s room, with Yun Tianye following close behind.

Fang Yihuan of Starry Sky Academy gazed at Yun Han’s ashen face and spoke with a grave expression. "Brother Zhu, I’ve done all I can. Your nephew’s condition is caused by the decay of his spiritual power. With his Companion Spirit outside his body for so long... it’s a miracle he’s even held on this long."

"Master Fang, you’re worldly and wise. Is there anyone else at the academy who might be able to treat Yun Han’s condition?" Zhu Hongxing asked earnestly.

"To be frank, I do have a senior who specializes in illnesses caused by spiritual power, but treating these kinds of afflictions takes a great toll on the healer. She lives in seclusion and would be impossible for you to persuade. Besides, even if she were to intervene, it’s not certain she could save him. At best, she might be able to return him to his previous comatose state. Waking up would be impossible. And his Companion Spirit would be beyond recovery," Fang Yihuan said, his voice full of regret.

"Master Fang, if a High-level Female Spirit Controller who is highly compatible with Yun Han were to form a Contract with him and establish a spiritual channel, would there be any hope of saving him?" Zhu Hongying had just reached the doorway and, having overheard Fang Yihuan, couldn’t resist asking.

"The chances are minuscule, but not zero. A spiritual connection can work wonders. His fundamental problem is the decay of his spiritual power, and a highly compatible female can indeed salvage a male’s spiritual power. However, the compatibility rating would need to be at least ninety percent, and her own Spiritual Power Level would have to be very high. His life is hanging by a thread. You should start making his final arrangements." Seeing that both Zhu Hongying and Yun Tianye had arrived, Fang Yihuan did not mince his words.

"Thank you, Master Fang," Zhu Hongying said with composure.

Zhu Hongxing escorted Master Fang out, leaving the room to Zhu Hongying and Yun Tianye.

Zhu Hongying walked to Yun Han’s bedside. She gently picked up the little White Tiger, which was incredibly weak and had its eyes closed. "Little White’s body temperature is getting very low. You need to make a decision. Now."

"Send him," Yun Tianye choked out, tears streaming down his face as he gazed at Yun Han’s ashen complexion. "You’ve already made the preparations, haven’t you? Send him! Quickly!"

"Let’s go together and see him off. We’ll take him there today and wait. If he makes it through the night, we’ll come back. If he doesn’t... we’ll bring him home." After speaking, Zhu Hongying called for Yun Ji and the others. They brought in the prepared Energy Cabin and carefully placed Yun Han inside.

The Energy Cabin had a streamlined, pod-like design, its surface covered in a smooth, silvery metal that reflected a faint light. The interior of the cabin was inscribed with complex runes and energy circuits that glowed with a soft blue light, seeming to flow slowly and lending the device a mysterious and powerful aura. The lid was transparent, fashioned from a special high-strength crystalline material that both protected its occupant from the outside world and allowed for a clear view of the person within.

The interior of the Energy Cabin was lined with pure Energy Stones. They were crystal clear and emitted a gentle luminescence. The stones were packed together so tightly that they covered nearly the entire floor and walls of the cabin, creating a powerful Energy Field.

The cabin was also equipped with an advanced monitoring system that tracked Yun Han’s vital signs and spiritual power fluctuations in real time. If any anomalies were detected, the system would immediately sound an alarm and automatically adjust the energy output to ensure his safety.

Zhu Hongying had gotten the Energy Cabin ready ten days prior. After they settled both Yun Han and Little White inside, Yun Han’s breathing grew slightly more stable, though his face remained deathly pale. The Energy Cabin was clearly already taking effect. Zhu Hongying gently stroked the transparent lid of the pod and whispered, "Let’s go."
