Chapter 170: Yun Han Asks for Punishment

Chapter 170

Although they had successfully eliminated their combat objective, all their reserve medicine had been used on the numerous infected soldiers. Yun Han could only worry helplessly. But now, seeing a familiar crate and opening it, he found it was indeed the medicine Ning Xuan had prepared. An indescribable feeling washed over him.

"Marshal Yun, there’s a letter in here for you." Qin An had found the letter while retrieving the medicine. The envelope was addressed personally to Yun Han.

Yun Han’s heart raced as he looked at the elegant script. He checked his personal Light Computer. His inbox showed a series of missed communications and dozens of failed message receipts. Most of them were from Ning Xuan, dated from a few days ago all the way through yesterday.

The color drained from Yun Han’s face. He remembered the rules he had learned at the Training Institute. His heart hammered in his chest, and a cold sweat beaded on his forehead.

The icy voice of a Tutor from the Training Institute echoed in his mind, repeating the rules one by one. "A Contracted Slave must never make a decision without their Contractor’s approval. All actions must follow the Contractor’s command. While on a mission, a Contracted Slave must not refuse their Contractor’s communications. Regardless of how urgent or dangerous the mission, responding to the Contractor is the top priority. If a communication is missed for any reason, you must call back at the first available opportunity and explain why. Failure to respond within the stipulated time is considered a grave transgression. The Contracted Slave will face severe punishment. For a minor offense, a return to the Training Institute for a whipping. For a major one, a return to the Training Institute to undergo the entire training regimen all over again."

Yun Han’s fingers trembled slightly as he quickly scrolled through his missed calls. He saw that Ning Xuan’s communication requests had started three days ago, coming in almost every few hours until they stopped late last night. Because of the unstable environment in this Star Domain, his Light Computer hadn’t connected to the Star Network, so he hadn’t received any of them at all.

"I’m screwed..." Yun Han murmured, his face growing even paler. ’He knew that according to the rules, a Contracted Slave missing their Contractor’s call was already a serious offense. For Ning Xuan to be unable to reach him for several days... she must have been frantic. The fact that she could send him medicine meant she’d probably found out about his situation and wasn’t furious, but... as a Contracted Slave fresh from the Training Institute, his personal Light Computer was monitored by them. Even if Ning Xuan was merciful, the Training Institute wouldn’t be.’

Yun Han quickly opened the letter from Ning Xuan. The script on the paper was as neat and elegant as the address on the envelope. Her words leaped into view: "Yun Han, I have been unable to contact you for three consecutive days. After making extensive inquiries, I learned that you led your troops to the front lines to provide support. Do you remember what I told you? Your life belongs to me. How dare you go to the battlefield without my permission?"

There was no signature at the end of the letter, only a cold, stamped seal—Ning Xuan’s personal insignia.

Yun Han’s heart sank.

"Marshal Yun, the markings on this medicine are identical to the ones you brought before. Did your family teleport this to you?"

"The site where we found the crate had the residual signature of a precision teleportation. A single precision teleport costs an astronomical fee. It’s true what they say—with you here, Marshal, we get to enjoy the best resources," Qin An said excitedly, looking at the vials. "With this medicine, the soldiers infected by the black fog, the ones with high Mutated Values, can be saved."

’Precision teleportation?’ Yun Han touched the collar on his neck. ’He knew it had a tracking device. Ning Xuan must have used the collar’s locator to teleport the medicine directly to him.’

Yun Han handed the medicine to Qin An, putting him in charge of all subsequent treatment. After the Heavenly Might Corps’ Seventh Fleet rendezvoused with the Second Legion’s Third Fleet, the safe zones they had cleared were connected, forming one large, contiguous safe area.

At the same time, a communication arrived from Command. It stated that the Skyscreen Passage was unusable, making it impossible to dispatch relief forces. However, various supply teleportation channels had been opened, so there was no need to worry about shortages. All corps were instructed to arrange for their soldiers to rest in rotation.

The various corps had already anticipated this, but when the official notice came down, the commanders couldn’t hide their anger and had a huge argument with Command.

Yun Han didn’t say much. With the medicine from Ning Xuan, the soldiers of the Heavenly Might Corps were safe for now, as long as they stayed within the secure area. Once the invasive creatures carrying the black fog were eliminated one by one, they could finally leave.

’But that would likely be a slow process.’ Yun Han took a deep breath, found the soldier in charge of communications, and after tinkering for a good while, finally managed to get a signal on the Star Network.

Ning Xuan accepted the incoming call from Yun Han. When the connection established, she saw him standing atop a massive Starship. He was dressed in a crisp, black combat commander’s uniform, impeccably tailored to his tall, upright frame. Four silver star insignias adorned his shoulders, each one glittering with a cold light that silently proclaimed his authority and power.

The badge on his chest bore the insignia of the Heavenly Might Corps—an eagle with outstretched wings, its eyes as sharp as blades, seemingly able to pierce through any fog or darkness.

The sky behind him was a heavy, suffocating black, as dark as an abyss. The surrounding area was shrouded in black fog, from which low roars occasionally echoed, as if countless eyes were watching the temporary safe zone from the shadows. The distant horizon was completely consumed by the thick fog, and the occasional flash of dark red lightning would reveal the chilling, half-hidden silhouettes of twisted creatures within.

On the other end of the call, Ning Xuan was silent for a moment, seemingly stunned by Yun Han’s surroundings. The moment Yun Han saw her, his own churning anxiety instantly settled. He adjusted the angle of his Light Computer’s camera, then knelt before the lens. "Yun Han greets the Lord Contract Master."

Ning Xuan sighed. "This black fog is dangerous. You should get back inside the Starship." The Starship could shield him from the fog’s corrosive influence.

"This is the only place I can connect to the Star Network. Contractor, I have received the medicine and the letter. Thank you. For going to the battlefield without your permission, I await your judgment," Yun Han said, his voice low.

"As long as you received them, that’s what matters. Protect yourself. When you return, I will settle this account with you," Ning Xuan said coldly.

"No matter the time or place, I am at your disposal." The young officer in the uniform stroked his black collar, and the gesture gave Ning Xuan an idea.

Ning Xuan’s eyebrow arched. She opened her own Light Computer, navigated to Yun Han’s profile, and tapped the icon for his collar. Besides the restriction mode, there were also numerous icons for punishments.
