Interstellar Farming: I Make Potions and Climb to the Top

Chapter 164: Perfect Treatment

Chapter 164

The moment she entered the tenth floor, she noticed a black mist permeating the air. Agonized howls rose and fell one after another. The black mist seemed to slowly seep into the bodies of the Spirit Controllers, only to then overflow from within them.

Spirit Controllers invaded by the black mist clutched their heads and cried out in pain, roared, or even went berserk and attacked people. The Spirit Controllers oozing black mist were those who had already fully mutated.

The Spirit Controllers who had just fully mutated could still maintain their sanity. They watched in horror as scales grew on their bodies or their hands turned into claws. The wary gazes of their colleagues plunged them into utter despair. Some of these desperate people went into a frenzy, trying to charge out. Others cried and begged for help, while a few just sat there, stunned and motionless.

Ning Xuan frowned at the utter chaos in the hall. "Who is in charge here? Where is the Heterogenization Value Suppression Medicine?" she shouted, raising her voice.

However, the hall was so noisy that her shout was swallowed by the clamor.

Di Youlin grew angry. With a sharp UNFURL, his wings snapped open and he shot into the air. A powerful spiritual power instantly blanketed the hall, and the cacophony died in an instant. "My master asked a question," his voice boomed. "Who is in charge here?"

"I—I am." A man squeezed out of the crowd from a corner below. "Just now, three Mutants went berserk and injured many people. We’re short-staffed, and I can’t get things under control." With people wailing and screaming everywhere, no one was paying him any attention; he had completely lost control of the situation.

"But I’ve already requested support. Someone should be here to help soon," the man added, looking utterly disheveled. From the looks of it, he had been injured in the conflict as well.

Right on cue, the elevator doors opened, and more than twenty young people in work uniforms stepped out. Their eyes immediately fell on the airborne Di Youlin and, following his gaze, Ning Xuan. "Miss Ning, Chairman Li sent us to assist you. This entire hall is under your command." There were seventeen or eighteen other halls just like this one, each just as chaotic.

"Then you will follow my orders," she declared. "Everyone, listen up! You were sent here from the battlefield to be treated, not to stand around and howl! If you can’t bear the pain, then gag yourselves and stop wasting everyone’s time!"

"Those already showing signs of mutation, over here! Those with no visible signs but severe headaches, over there! And those who are fully mutated, come directly to me." With a few sharp commands, Ning Xuan quickly triaged the patients into three groups.

After full mutation, there was still a window of a few hours before a person lost their sanity. They could still be saved during this period, though it would take considerably more effort.

For those already showing signs of mutation, Ning Xuan took out the Alienation Value Clearing Potion and handed it to Lin Mo. Lin Mo then led a team to administer the medicine to them.

For those with severe headaches, Ning Xuan produced the Spiritual Calming Potion and had the staff administer it.

Ning Xuan personally took charge of the fully mutated group. At the same time, she released the true form of her Ghost-faced Red Vine—a vine resembling a small sapling, just over ten centimeters tall. The Ghost-faced Red Vine released countless transparent filaments that seemed to draw a unique substance from the black mist. Once the Red Vine absorbed this substance, the mist could no longer invade the Spirit Controllers’ Spiritual Seas.

There were thirteen people in total who had fully mutated. Ning Xuan used her Golden Needle Secret Technique in conjunction with the Alienation Value Clearing Potion to treat them. The way she inserted the needles had a mystical rhythm to it; just watching her from the side was enough to calm one’s mind.

The patients with milder symptoms soon felt the turmoil in their Spiritual Seas gradually calm after being injected. Their previously skyrocketing Mutated Values also stabilized. ’I can’t believe this medicine works so fast,’ they thought. Most of them had been injected with Spiritual Calming Potions on the battlefield, but the effects were never this miraculous.

Those who recovered quickly began helping care for the other wounded. Most of them were comrades-in-arms who shared the same fate. Seeing this group’s condition improve gave the others a surge of confidence. Even though they had yet to be treated and were still in agony, they were able to grit their teeth and quiet down with the reassurance of their comrades.

About half an hour later, everyone in the first two groups had received their injections. The lightly afflicted were fully recovered, and even the more severe cases showed improvement. Most importantly, while they still felt pain, they could sense their bodies slowly beginning to recover.

"Look, Li Fu’s scales are receding!" a soldier who had been quietly watching Ning Xuan’s treatment suddenly exclaimed.

Li Fu was one of the thirteen who had been fully mutated.

"You’re right! And Cai Qi’s claws have turned back into hands!" another person added in amazement.

"So, even those who have fully mutated can be saved?" someone murmured.

Someone tried to slip out of the hall but was stopped by the personnel guarding the entrance.

"My brother is in the hall one floor up. I have to go get him! He was heavily contaminated, so he’s definitely fully mutated by now. That lady Controller can save him! Please, I’m begging you, just let me go bring him here," the man pleaded softly.

"The hall upstairs has its own healers—even more than we have here," the staff member replied, looking at the wounded man in exasperation. "Each hall has a limit to how many patients it can treat. Miss Ning is handling this entire hall by herself. We can’t possibly take on any more."

’Miss Ning is already shouldering a heavy burden by treating this entire hall alone. The higher-ups couldn’t spare anyone else and only made this arrangement because they knew she’s an Alchemy Master who carries her own medicine. This guy is lucky enough to be assigned here and get healed, and now he wants to run off and drag someone else in? Isn’t that just adding to Miss Ning’s workload?’

Di Youlin had already retracted his wings and landed. He’d been focused on Ning Xuan’s condition and hadn’t noticed someone trying to slip out. Now, hearing the staff stop the man at the entrance and seeing others in the hall looking eager to do the same, he grew angry. He planted himself in front of the elevator doors. "All of you, get back and wait obediently."

The pressure Di Youlin released was immense, and those who had been harboring similar ideas immediately abandoned them.

’It’s true,’ they thought. ’We were incredibly lucky to have run into Miss Ning and have our lives saved. We can’t ask for more.’

Ning Xuan, for her part, focused single-mindedly on treating the fully mutated, paying no mind to the commotion at the entrance. Her Golden Needle Secret Technique consumed spiritual power, and treating these thirteen people was already leaving her fatigued. ’I could handle a few more, sure,’ she thought, ’but if I open that floodgate, it won’t stop at just a few.’

’She was here to provide medical support, not to sacrifice herself.’
