Interstellar Farming: I Make Potions and Climb to the Top

Chen Nan didn’t understand why he felt so down at the thought of Ning Xuan having other Contractors in the future. Before, his greatest hope in being matched with a Contractor was that they would allow him to fight on the battlefield, not keep him bound to their side.

"Ms. Ning, you still need to have your brain domain width tested. It’s on the third floor. Please come with me!" The male staff member was now looking at Ning Xuan as if he had seen some rare treasure, wanting to get closer but not daring to, eager yet reserved.

Ning Xuan followed the staff member to the third floor. The machine for testing brain domain width was a cabin shaped like a spaceship. Ning Xuan walked in as the staff member instructed and sat on the chair in the very center. There was a screen directly in front of her. She pressed the button in the middle of the chair, and the screen lit up with a SWISH. Immediately after, the screen shot out countless rays of light, enveloping her completely. Ning Xuan felt as if she were bathing in sunlight, a warm sensation washing over her!

The light rays seemed to be some kind of energy, and she could feel it seeping into her Spiritual Sea. Ning Xuan subconsciously activated the Soul Nourishing Scripture. Instantly, her senses sharpened and her spiritual power began to rise rapidly. Her Spiritual Sea was now unusually active, and it seemed these rays of light could accelerate her spiritual power cultivation.

Just as Ning Xuan was getting into her cultivation, with a HISS, the screen went dark. Outside the cabin, the staff member glanced at Chen Nan, who was staring at him nervously. "Major General Chen, Ms. Ning’s brain domain width is A-level. However, the testing time was too short, so it might not be accurate. I recommend a retest with a higher-level instrument!"

The staff member felt it was very strange. A brain domain width test usually took at least 20 minutes to complete, but the machine had automatically shut down in under five. The Flying Car had an auto-drive function. Ning Xuan looked at Chen Nan, who was sitting primly and properly beside her, and asked in a serious tone, "Ah Nan, how long does this heat period of yours last?"

Chen Nan’s face flushed bright red. He turned his head away in embarrassment, unable to look at Ning Xuan. For her to ask a man such a private and shameful question, even with their close relationship, was mortifying for him.

"Uh, Ah Nan, I didn’t mean anything by it. It’s just... I want to go to the Mysterious Barrier Land to look for something, and I was wondering when you’d be available." Seeing his reaction, Ning Xuan realized her question had been a bit blunt. The Mysterious Barrier Land was the source from which every planet’s Exotic Beasts and Exotic Plants were born, making it the most dangerous of places.

"Contractor, I am available at any time. But you cannot go. You could awaken your Companion Spirit at any moment and must stay in a safe environment. If you go to the Mysterious Barrier Land, even a D-level one, there’s no guarantee that an accident won’t happen!" Chen Nan said in a serious tone.

Of course, Ning Xuan wasn’t actually angry. She just couldn’t help but want to tease him when she saw him acting so meek and subservient to placate her.

"Contractor..." Chen Nan was trying to form the words to explain, but Ning Xuan’s mischievous hand had already slipped inside his clothes. Under her teasing touch, his body trembled and his skin flushed red. The words he wanted to say were now stuck in his throat.
