The tuft of white fur at the very tip of each tail trembled gently in the night breeze, like dandelion fluff scattering in the wind, or like clouds painted across the night sky by an immortal’s brush.

Its amber eyes narrowed slightly, and its pointed ears flattened back in a wary arch.

But when it saw that the newcomer was Di Youlin, its wary gaze slowly relaxed, replaced by that familiar, almost mocking expression. Its large, fluffy tails fanned out slowly like a folded fan, their tips catching the moonlight as they tapped lightly on the green stone.

"You... You’re a Nine-tailed Fox?" Di Youlin stared blankly at the nine tails behind it, lost in thought.

’I remember the Little Fox usually only has one tail. Why does it suddenly have nine today? It’s clearly the same Little Fox.’

The Nine-tailed Fox pushed a dew-covered wild berry forward with its paw. A fluffy tail-tip curled around the Red Fruit, rolling it across the stone and leaving a winding trail of water.
