Dual Worlds: I Have a Doomsday World

Lin Qi didn’t sleep soundly that night, constantly on guard for any potential crisis.

His nerves only settled slightly when his Intelligent Brain announced it was six in the morning. He went to the bathroom to quickly wash up.

He activated his Spiritual Vision. His bodyguard, Green Hair, was still in the next room.

He checked his Intelligent Brain again. There were still no messages from the company. It seemed the Greenfield City branch of Liu’s Heavy Industries hadn’t collapsed yet.

As he walked to the bathroom, his head throbbed slightly. He hadn’t gotten enough rest lately; shuttling between two worlds often left him with only a few hours to sleep.

He splashed his face with water, dried off, and changed into the respectable attire of a corporate employee before walking out the door.

When he arrived at the public transit platform, he activated his Spiritual Vision.

Lin Qi hadn’t forgotten his promise to King Arthur: to help her find the entrance to the Iron Curtain Void.

But...

’I originally thought the Iron Curtain Void was supposed to be an emergency escape route reserved by the Si Clan. But judging from the gangs’ movements, the network of underground tunnels connected to the Void is likely crawling with gang members.’

’The Void may have become the regular base for whichever Si Clan member is controlling the gangs. That person, the one in control, is most likely the true heir to the Si Clan—Si Ying’s sister, Si Ranran.’

While waiting for the transport to arrive, Lin Qi sorted through his thoughts, carefully unraveling every piece of information to reconstruct the truth.

The transport arrived at the platform, and Lin Qi boarded. His bodyguard, Green Hair, who had been following at a distance, slipped inside through another door.

This time, Lin Qi chose to travel in the complete opposite direction from the day before, but his destination was the same: the outskirts of Greenfield City.

He was once again heading to the Prosthetic Clinics on the outskirts to do some shopping, using his Spiritual Vision to scan every underground tunnel along the way.

After a new round of Meditation in the Doomsday World, the range of his Spiritual Vision had expanded to nearly one hundred and eighty meters.

If he wasn’t so concerned about arousing suspicion, Lin Qi could have just made a single lap around the perimeter of Greenfield City and would have undoubtedly found the exact location of the Void and its entrance.

The transport moved quickly, reaching the terminal station on the outskirts in about forty minutes.

The moment Lin Qi stepped off, he had a feeling he’d come to the right place.

The number of Prosthetic Clinics, scrap prosthetic recycling depots, and weapon exchanges here far exceeded that of the area Lin Qi had previously explored.

This meant that there were more gang members here, and they were more concentrated.

As he walked down the street, dozens of gazes, each with its own agenda, focused on him.

To a gang member, a corp dog was no different from a fat sheep.

The law and order in Greenfield City was nowhere near as good as in Red Fruit City.

A weapon compartment in his left arm popped open. Lin Qi withdrew the Short-Handled Tang Blade and used the Exoskeleton on his spine to magnetically attach it to his back.

Some of the encircling stares instantly vanished.

The gang members couldn’t identify the A-Class material of the Short-Handled Tang Blade, but they knew that anyone who dared to openly carry a weapon in a lawless area was not to be trifled with.

But not all eyes looked away. A few bolder, more direct gazes—the kind that looked tough but were all bark and no bite—locked firmly onto Lin Qi’s prosthetic limbs.

They couldn’t tell it was an Exoskeleton disguised as a Prosthetic Body—it was, after all, the result of Lin Qi’s own design and modifications.

All they could see were high-quality Prosthetic Bodies from Liu’s Heavy Industries.

Practically new. Very valuable.

He felt the malice in certain stares intensify.

Lin Qi silently retracted the Short-Handled Tang Blade into its weapon compartment.

’He chickened out?’

That was the gang members’ first reaction.

Just as someone was about to step forward and start something—to rip off an L-Class prosthetic arm or two in exchange for some Credit Points,

Lin Qi had already turned and started walking in a certain direction.

’Trying to run?’

The gang members quickly closed in on Lin Qi.

But Lin Qi had already walked right up to Green Hair, who thought he was hiding quite stealthily.

Green Hair looked bewildered. ’When exactly did I give away my position?’

Seeing Lin Qi meet up with Green Hair, the gang members who had just quickened their pace immediately turned away.

’Those are some high-grade Prosthetic Bodies!’

’If I’m not mistaken, those arms, those legs... they’re all flagship products from Liu’s Heavy Industries’ A-series.’

’This damned corp dog! If you weren’t alone, you should’ve said so! Why pretend to be a weakling? If we’d actually messed with him, who could possibly withstand the fury of an A-Class big shot?’

The gang members scattered, leaving a wide-open space around Lin Qi.

But even so, Lin Qi could still feel several intense stares on him.

’I’m being watched again?’

Lin Qi could sense a strong malice in these gazes; they were aimed directly at him.

He scanned the area with his Spiritual Vision. Taking a closer look, he saw they still appeared to be gang members.

But unlike the regular gang members, these few wore uniforms, and their Prosthetic Bodies were of higher quality.

While not flagship models from a major corporation, they were at least standard-issue, not secondhand junk.

On the upper-left part of their clothing, over the chest, was a strange symbol.

’The biggest gang in Greenfield City, the one King Arthur mentioned... Endorphin?’

Lin Qi guessed their identity from the symbol.

King Arthur had gotten the S-Class Potion from them.

Gangs and S-Class Potions—these two keywords were enough to point to Si Pharmaceutical.

Being targeted by members of Endorphin was as good as coming under the scrutiny of the Si Clan.

’It seems Si Ying and Si Ranran were really in love. Si Ranran controls the gang, and now she’s using its members to conduct a full-scale search for Si Ying’s killer.’

’Ostensibly, I didn’t have the power to kill Si Ying, but I did have a conflict with him right before his death.’

Lin Qi quickly deduced the reason he was being tailed.

More trouble from Si Ying.

’I should be safe for now. On the surface, Liu’s Heavy Industries hasn’t collapsed, and I have an A-Class bodyguard. As long as Si Ranran isn’t insane, she won’t make a rash move against me.’

’But it’s hard to say what will happen if this drags on. Once the Liu Clan collapses completely, she’ll probably be the type to kill a thousand innocent people rather than let a single suspect get away.’

Lin Qi had never met Si Ranran, but he had no qualms about assuming the absolute worst of her.

Si Ying was insane. How much better could his lover and sister, Si Ranran, possibly be?

For two people like that to get together, they must have had similar personalities at their core.

Beside Lin Qi, Green Hair seemed to have an idea. "Bro, I’m out of Credit Points. I’ve already lent them all to you."

Lin Qi waved his hand. "I’m not here to borrow Credit Points. I just came to see if I’d found the right spot. And old bro, your hiding skills could use some practice."

Green Hair’s expression darkened at Lin Qi’s words.

’What do you mean, "could use some practice"?’

’I clearly ranked in the top three of all Liu Clan bodyguards in the comprehensive assessment.’

’But when he thought about how Lin Qi had pinpointed his location every single time he tried to hide, Green Hair was at a loss for words.’
