Taking the elevator to the top floor, Lin Qi saw Liu Xuan again the moment the doors slowly slid open.

Even though they were leaving for a business trip together the next day, Liu Xuan was her usual self and didn’t exchange more than a few words with Lin Qi.

They exchanged greetings, then each boarded their own flying vehicle.

Relying on the superior performance of her ten-million-credit vehicle, Liu Xuan quickly left Lin Qi so far behind he couldn’t even see her taillights.

Lin Qi, however, was in no hurry. He leisurely piloted his vehicle, enjoying a smooth ride before finally landing at 8 Fortress Road.

By the time Lin Qi landed, Liu Xuan was long gone.

If he had used his Spiritual Vision to take a look, Lin Qi would have seen that Liu Xuan was already back in her apartment. She was soaking in a full bathtub, the blue light in her left eye glowing a little more brightly than usual.

But Lin Qi wasn’t in the habit of peeping, so he ambled back to his own apartment.

He sat down at the workbench in his apartment and took out a chip.

This chip contained the designs for six L-Class Prosthetic Bodies.

It was a chip Lin Qi planned to take to the Doomsday World, one he had managed to finish during his work hours at H4-401.

Even the chip itself was a consumable item taken from the company.

An act like this would certainly be detected by the company’s system, but the chip’s value was negligible. The corporate AI had a certain degree of tolerance for High Level employees.

As long as Lin Qi’s actions didn’t involve major violations or the theft of confidential information, the corporate AI would simply log the incident without sounding an alarm.

Sitting at his workbench, Lin Qi picked up his tools and made a few simple adjustments to the chip’s interface so it would be compatible with the equipment in the Doomsday World.

As for things like data protocols, Lin Qi wouldn’t modify them in the Cyber World. That would avoid the troublesome risk of exposure.

He waited for time to pass. The moment the Door finished its cooldown, Lin Qi immediately made contact with his Spiritual Power.

The scene before him shifted from light to dark, and Lin Qi arrived in the Doomsday World, chip in hand.

In the conference room, Lin Qi placed the chip on the table.

The Prosthetic Body matter could wait. The first order of business was to attempt Mimicry and confirm the true nature of Ning Xin’s Extraordinary Ability.

Lin Qi still couldn’t be sure if that technique used against Prosthetic Bodies was a manifestation of Ning Xin’s own Extraordinary Power, or if she merely served as a conduit for that power.

This was a crucial piece of intelligence, and for now, Lin Qi was the only one with any hope of finding the answer.

With a mere thought, he activated his third ability as a Tier Two Wizard: Decomposition Mimicry.

This time, Lin Qi chose only to mimic the Ability itself.

His own appearance wouldn’t change at all.

Lin Qi proceeded with extreme caution. He didn’t push the Mimicry with his full strength, but rather constructed the Extraordinary Power unique to Ning Xin bit by bit.

Everything seemed to be going smoothly, and the Ability was on the verge of being fully constructed.

But the Mimicry had yet to reach its most critical step. The last time he’d tried this, his Spiritual Vision had issued a stark warning at the very moment the Ability was about to form.

The feeling of being watched from the inside out still made Lin Qi’s heart race with lingering fear.

The next second, the familiar sensation returned.

A dire warning!

No, it was more than just a dire warning!

Lin Qi was suddenly hit by a tremendously violent psychic assault.

The psychic assault felt like it was about to induce a hallucination.

His consciousness reeled as if struck by a sledgehammer. His vision dimmed, and his body felt drained of all strength.

His surroundings fell utterly silent, as if he were submerged in the boundless void of deep space.

Suddenly, a flicker of light appeared ahead.

No, not a flicker—it was a long fissure emitting a scarlet glow.

This fissure spanned an immeasurable distance, its length impossible to discern.

Yet, with a single glance, Lin Qi could sense its profundity.

A terrifying power seemed to lie hidden within this fissure.

Vaguely, Lin Qi felt the fissure begin to tremble.

The frequency of its trembling grew faster and faster.

It was as if a slumbering being was about to awaken, and this fissure was its... eye.

On either side of the fissure, Lin Qi thought he could make out a spherical contour. ’An eyeball? Or maybe a pupil?’

This contour transmitted wisps of manic emotion to him.

The slumbering being seemed to have been imprisoned for far too long. It was desperate to awaken, desperate for... revenge?

But through that sliver of madness, Lin Qi also sensed a trace of intimacy.

Gradually, the darkness before him grew deeper.

Lin Qi felt a wave of drowsiness, his mind exhausted.

But his subconscious screamed at him. ’Don’t fall asleep! You absolutely cannot fall asleep!’

’If I fall asleep now, I might never wake up again.’

His eyelids grew unbearably heavy, about to seal shut.

But in that instant, through the deep, scarlet slit...

Lin Qi saw the outside world. He saw... an incredibly blurry human figure, shrouded in a thin membrane.

Drenched in a cold sweat, his consciousness returned to his body, snapping back to reality.
