Dual Worlds: I Have a Doomsday World

Like a miracle-working physician, Lin Qi revived the middle-aged man again in the span of just two breaths.

The middle-aged man’s eyes were filled with confusion.

Hearing Lin Qi’s command, the middle-aged man wanted to play dead, but he could not resist the unique Spiritual Power of a Wizard.

His body’s reaction overrode his will.

The middle-aged man opened his eyes and answered Lin Qi’s question in a voice that, while weak, was perfectly clear. "After becoming a Moon Worshiper, I heard the whispers of the Blood Moon and mastered my first Ability, called Attract Moon. With the power of Attract Moon, I can help other people become Moon Worshipers."

"My second power is named Hidden Moon. It makes me invisible to any monster with a Crystal Stone in its brain."

"My third power is the creation of Blood Moon Descent Objects..."

"My fourth power... I haven’t named it yet, but it allows me to control monsters that possess Crystal Stones."

"In addition to these powers, I’ve also learned of the various uses for Blood Moon Descent Objects. By completing certain rituals, they can produce different effects, such as controlling corpses..."

Though his mind screamed in defiance, under Lin Qi’s influence, he still confessed everything clearly.

He was unable to hide a single word.

Endless sorrow welled up in his heart.

The middle-aged man understood. It wasn’t the Blood Moon that had revived him, but the Blood Moon Envoy before him, clad in an Exoskeleton.

He needed answers to his questions.

And once all the questions had been answered, it would most likely be time for his... death.

After uttering his last word, the middle-aged man closed his eyes helplessly.

He had been so close, so very close.

If Lin Qi hadn’t appeared, his fate wouldn’t have been so tragic.

He might have even grasped greater power in the future—and, as he had told the other Moon Worshipers, perhaps even attained eternal life.

But now, all of that had vanished like a dream.

He closed his eyes, quietly awaiting death’s arrival.

The pain in his chest returned.

The familiar sensation of his heart rupturing.

The familiar sensation of his lifeblood draining away.

Once again, the middle-aged man felt his life slipping away.

’This Blood Moon Envoy truly wasn’t going to spare me.’

’Very well. In that case, I will simply await death’s arrival.’

’Even if I die, the Blood Moon will still shine down upon the earth.’

’When the Blood Moon’s descent is complete, my name will still be known throughout the world.’

The middle-aged man’s consciousness began to drift.

But then Lin Qi remembered another question.

Wei Yue’s condition was strange. He’d been questioning the man for a while, but Wei Yue showed no signs of waking up.

Lin Qi didn’t want anything to happen to Wei Yue; he still needed her to provide more information about the Blood Moon and the Extraordinary Side of the Doomsday World.

With a mere thought, Lin Qi once again controlled the blood pooling on the ground, forcing it back into the man’s ruptured heart.

He cast Rapid Growth again.

The fading Life Force flowed back into the middle-aged man’s body.

For some reason, the middle-aged man’s expression suddenly became one of heroic solemnity, as if he were a martyr about to face death.

Ignoring his grievous injuries, the man sat bolt upright and cried out, "My name is—"

Lin Qi cut him off. "Check on her," he ordered. "You’re both Moon Worshipers. You should be more familiar with this state."

Lin Qi had never seen Wei Yue listening to the whispers before.

But his intuition told him that listening to the whispers shouldn’t take this long.

Following the direction Lin Qi pointed, the middle-aged man saw Wei Yue sitting in the cockpit of the M-Class Mecha.

His eyes widened abruptly.

As if in utter disbelief.

"Her... she... she..."

The middle-aged man stammered.

It was unclear whether it was from being revived by Lin Qi yet again or from his inability to accept the scene before his eyes.

"What’s wrong with her?" Lin Qi frowned.

Through his Spiritual Vision, he could see that there was nothing physically wrong with Wei Yue, nor was her life in danger.

However, Lin Qi couldn’t accurately judge what was happening on a mental level.

After all, Wei Yue’s Spiritual Power was completely different from that of a Wizard; it didn’t manifest as tentacle-like shapes.

"Why? Why her?!"

His emotions were apparently running so high that the middle-aged man actually defied Lin Qi’s command and failed to answer the question immediately.

But Lin Qi repeated his question. "Tell me what is happening. Immediately!"

Only a Moon Worshiper could properly explain matters concerning Moon Worshipers.

Chastened by Lin Qi’s tone, the middle-aged man gradually calmed down.

Looking at Wei Yue, he spoke with utter heartbreak, "She took the incomplete trait that belonged to me. She is receiving the blessing of the Blood Moon—an incomplete blessing."

"After receiving this blessing, she will become a special kind of Moon Worshiper. If she ever gets the chance to witness the birth of a Tier Four Monster or obtain its Crystal Stone, she’ll be able to become a true Blood Moon Envoy."

Heartbreak, in every sense of the word.

He was heartbroken both because Wei Yue had obtained the trait and because Lin Qi had stabbed him through the heart twice—and was about to do it a third time.

The middle-aged man looked from Wei Yue to Lin Qi, and a look of sudden realization dawned on his face.

"I understand. I finally understand."

"She’s also one of the first Moon Worshipers. But when I completed the ritual, a true Blood Moon Envoy was sitting right next to her. That’s why the newly created incomplete trait was closer to her, and that’s why she absorbed it."

"The heavens are unjust! Unjust..."

Lin Qi felt a measure of relief at the man’s explanation, but it also brought a new headache.

It seemed Wei Yue was about to get stronger, becoming a higher-level being than an ordinary, first-generation Moon Worshiper.

Perhaps she would become something more akin to a Wizard.

He was the one who had forcibly detonated the Blood Moon Descent Object, the one who had completed the ritual through such extreme measures.

So why was *this* woman the one to obtain the incomplete trait?

If he had absorbed that trait...

...he would have been able to break through to Tier Three.

With the power of Tier Three, even if he couldn’t defeat this Blood Moon Envoy, he might have been able to save his own life.

It was so unfair!

For the third time, the middle-aged man’s Life Force rapidly drained away.

Using the last of his strength to control his facial muscles, he formed an expression that looked like a tragic smile.

It was a chilling sight.

But this was the end he deserved.

He had slaughtered an entire city’s worth of survivors.

Even if Lin Qi didn’t kill him, the officials of the Dragon Country would not have spared him.

His body grew increasingly weak, and the middle-aged man muttered, "You should... remember me... My name is..."
