Knotting His Rejected Breeder

RAMON’S POV

"I know you think you’re bigger than the pack, Ramon. You’ve always had an ego that would fit ten packs. But you still need the elders of your pack when making important decisions. You cannot discard it, because doing so is risking a curse. And you of all know how dangerous curses are," Chris jumped into the discussion with a threatening tone.

This was my biggest problem with the hypocrite. He really did think I owed him some sort of accountability.

Because he was just using the pack as a front for what he really desired.

He wanted me to report to him. To bend to his wills because he was once my father’s Beta.

Unfortunately for him, that ship had long sailed. I saw him for what he truly was. A pathetic piece of shit who stood by and did nothing when Ferins almost burned the pack to ashes.

When Jenner had to sneak me out of the pack, realising she couldn’t save my mother, he was also nowhere to be found.

When years later, I returned and did my best in turning the pack what it is today, he did absolutely nothing.

Now he was an elder with an entitlement. An entitlement borne out of absolutely nothing but greed and a need to control so as not to appear as useless and miserable as he was.

The good thing was that I didn’t give a damn. Not about his feelings, nor about what the majority of these useless elders wanted.

"You’ve said what you have to say, and now I’ll say mine. I believed you all wanted to talk about the festival of alphas, and the fact we’re hosting it. That is why I decided to grace your presence. But since you’ve decided to stray and talk about a business that isn’t yours to mind, this is what I have to say. My mate is my private affair. I’m not compelled to give you any information on that. If you’re so curious, come to the festival of alphas. You’ll see her."

I rose to my feet, prepared to storm out of their midst, when Adelaide, the Packs doctor cleared her throat.

She was getting older, and we were yet to find a replacement for her. There was just no one who could fit into her shoes, or even measure up to half of her abilities.

She was one of a kind, and I respected her a whole lot.

"Sit Ramon," she ordered. "No matter how powerful a child is, he can still he subjected go the opinions of his elders."

Reluctantly, I sat down. She was the only elder that could make me reconsider certain decisions. Jenner too.

"I know you think this is an ambush," she resumed speaking after I took my seat. "It really isn’t. I don’t know what the problem is between you and your mate, but I have heard rumours that suggest she’s the daughter of Alpha Ferins of the silverpaw pack?"

"That’s right," I grumbled in response.

"The moon goddess knows how to play a tricky game. Good thing is, she has given us the wisdom to be able to navigate each level of these games. You’re faced with a great temptation, Ramon. One where you have to exert revenge on the man that turned your pack into a bloody ground. But in doing that, you risk the wrath of the moon goddess who has given you an offspring of your rival for a mate. Do you see how tricky this entire situation is?"

"To be honest with you, Adelaide, I don’t care. I don’t care what the moon goddess’ intentions were when she gave me Ferins daughter for a mate. All I care about is avenging my family’s honour. You of all people cannot be opposed to this quest."

"On the contrary, Ramon. I just want you to be extremely sure of whatever you’re doing. In search for justice, do not risk a curse. This land has seen one of such before, and it takes more than it gives."

"I agree with Ade," Jenner said. "You’re not a child anymore, Ramon. Your mother would be proud to see the alpha you became. Do not make her regret that pride."

I heard the subtle warning in her threat, and was compelled to nod.

Of all the elders of the pack, two women were the ones who had my respect the most. These were the two people who stood strong and mighty against the wrath of alpha Ferins. For them, I would compromise a little.

"Can I leave now?" I asked.

"I don’t think hosting the festival of alphas is a good thing. If the alpha of Silverpaw comes, there could be a fight. How do you plan on navigating that?" Chris questioned.

"By doing what I do best. Winning."

With that said, I rose to my feet, and Daniels quickly imitated my actions.

"Thank you all for your—" I pause in search of the right word to use for what had just happened. "For your concern for the pack. I’ll put your suggestions in mind, and make use of the one that best fits my agenda. Enjoy your night." ignoring their murmurs of disagreement, I walked out of their midst.

I was halfway back to my quarters when I felt a presence behind me.

"Let’s talk," Jenner said when I turned around.

"Jenner?"

"Don’t call my name, just follow me," she said.

I turned to Daniel, and he immediately bowed and excused himself.

"What is this about?" I lifted a quizzical brow.

"Follow me," she said.

I followed behind her, but my mind was in a mess. Jenner was looking and even sounding a little more serious than usual.

It wasn’t until we were almost at our destination I realised where we were headed. I came to an abrupt stop when it dawned on me.

"Why?" I asked when she stopped in front of me too.

"Because she’s crying, Ramon. I can hear her voice, and she’s crying. Do you want to really bring the man that ruined everything here?"

"I have to," I said stubbornly.

"Then there’s no point in going to see her, if you insist."

Before I could blink, she turned around, and took a path out of my sight.
