SONIA’S POV
I saw the smile on Lorena’s face as she rose to her feet, and walked hand in hand with Ramon.
They stepped out together, and began to walk towards the exit.
As they walked past the spot I was seated, Lorena turned to me, and threw me a gloating look.
It turned the food in my mouth sour. Somewhere in my delusional mind, I thought a dance was enough for the alpha to see I wasn’t his enemy.
I thought I would finally have the respect I deserved from him. But he was throwing it in my face again.
Throwing the fact he could use any woman to get under my skin. He even chose the one that knew how to make me feel insignificant the most.
The door closed behind them, and I tossed my plate to the side.
My appetite was only beginning to open, but now, I couldn’t bring myself to eat anymore.
I was in my feelings, sulking with a squeeze face, so I didn’t see her come towards me.
It was only after I sniffed her presence, I lifted my head and found the alpha Daisy staring at me.
"Come," she beckoned.
"Me?" I touched my chest as if there was anyone else beside or behind me.
"Yes. We need to talk."
I looked through her, and found Ivy behind her.
She wasn’t alone. Blane stood beside her.
"Is she supposed to leave the party?" He asked.
"Are you directing that question at me, Blane?" The alpha Daisy asked without looking behind her shoulders.
"With all due respect alpha Daisy, alpha Ramon said—"
"I know what he said. You’re in charge because he needs to go bury his balls inside that whore. Trust me, I get it. But for your own good, I hope to the moon goddess you know your hierarchy. This may be Ramon’s pack, but we’re not equals."
She let the threat in her words sit for a while, before she returned her attention to me.
"Come with me, Sonia."
I quickly rose to my feet, not waiting to be told a third time.
The alpha Daisy was fast becoming one of my favourite people ever. She was strong-willed, and fearless. If I had even one degree of her will, I probably would be in a better place.
Silently, I followed her. It wasn’t until we were out of the party room, I realised ivy had also followed us.
We continued down the path to the same room she had taken me to when she told me what I was going to do for her.
As we entered the room the second time, I took my time to actually look around. It was a really well put together artistry. Everything looked so cosy, and beautiful. Just like the alpha.
"I know you’re wondering why I brought you here, but I needed to speak to you, after what I’ve observed."
I lifted my head, and saw she was sitting at the edge of her bed. Ivy was by the side of the closed door, and I stood at the centre of the room.
It almost felt like an attack on both sides.
"What is it you have observed?" I asked.
"First of all, you need more guts. If you didn’t look so much like your mother, I wouldn’t know you’re a bloodline of Ferins with how calm you are. How do you allow Lorena to walk all over you? Didn’t you tell her who Lorena used for be?" She looked past me towards Ivy.
I whipped my head behind, and caught the guilty expression on Ivy’s face.
To be very honest, I had always wondered why Ivy didn’t really fear Lorena, but did all she ordered out of respect for Ramon.
Maybe she would finally say the truth, because I was curious to hear it too.
"It’s not going to change anything, alpha Daisy. The alpha protects her. Whatever she does, he defends her. If you talk about her past when he believes that by his decree, he has absolved her of whatever shame that came with it, that person would have his tongue slashed out from their mouth."
"I knew he protected her, I just didn’t think it would be to that extent. Especially not against his own mate. Anyway, I just need you to be strong. I have only one day with you, because Ramon wants you home in time for the festival of alphas. But I’ll tell you this one thing for free, search your heart, and find the girl your father would be proud of. He wouldn’t be proud of a wimp I know that much. It’s not going to be easy, but if you—"
A knock sounded on the door, interrupting her words.
Even before it opened, I had caught his scent.
My brow furrowed, as I wondered why he was suddenly back.
Alpha Ramon opened the door, and stepped into the room.
"Back so soon from the whores depths?" Alpha Daisy asked to my surprise.
There was no shock in her eyes, neither was there fear in her voice. Once again, I envied, and admired her.
"I changed my mind about the time of leaving. You need to leave now, before midnight. I just got an information I need to act on," he replied, doing well to ignore her remarks about his extracurricular activities with Lorena.
"Works for me. Do you want me to go with my car? And if yes, is my driver ready?" She asked, rising to her feet.
"No, you’re going to go with another driver from my pack, and with my car. I’ll get someone else to bring you your car."
"Alright. Lastly, can Ivy come along?"
"No! She stays."
"Fine!" She rolled her eyes. "You don’t have to be mean about it."
He took two steps forward, and was before her. They were both alpha’s, but somehow, he managed to strike more fear in one’s heart.
I shuddered in fright for alpha Daisy, grateful I wasn’t in her position.
"Don’t make me regret giving in to you," he warned.
She rose to her toes, and placed a kiss on his mouth. "When she returns, treat her like your queen, because she is."
She walked past him, and he turned around. Our eyes met, and locked.
I held my breath in hopes he would say something. He only looked me up and down, and walked out of the room.
As the door shut behind him, my heart fell.
