Back at the academy, the light has started to weaken. Everyone stopped blocking their eyes. Though a great number of their ailments have been cured, there’s still stubborn ones, but that was of no concern at the moment.
Eyes were all trained on Niklaus as if trying to discern some kind of secret only he knows. The moment the machine came to a stand still and the crystal stopped producing light. Niklaus saw the teacher walk to the display, checking the info displayed there.
For a moment there, he could’ve seen Mr Sayars’s eyes grow in size, with great intensity. "This shouldn’t be possible" That was the first words spoken out of the teacher;s mouth.
This of course brought everyone’s attention to the shocked look of the teacher. Abraham was the first to break the silence. "Sir, what is it, what do you see"
His voice brought the teacher back to reality, "No..nothing" the teacher said, sneaking a peak at Nikulas. Niklaus didn’t catch on. The scanning continued for a few more moments before it was done.
"Ok, with that, this concludes our ties as student and homeroom teacher. Of course that doesn’t mean I stop being your teacher, if ever you need something and you need someone to talk to, don’t be discouraged to reach out... The rest of you leave, Mr Genesis, please could I have a moment of your time"
With that everyone left, Niklaus stayed behind, curious about the call. With both of them left, Sayas was about to speak when the door suddenly burst open. "Mmh Mmh Mmmm. Look who we got today, an interesting specimen"
A tall thin man in white labcoat, pink spiky hair waltzed in like he owned the place. Nuklaus saw his former teacher’s face switch through multiple expressions till it went neutral and went back as though a subordinate looking at the higher up.
"Greating Doct...." Just as the teacher was about to have his words out. He quickly felt pressure weigh down on him. When he looked at the new arrival, it felt like he was being stared at by a huge predator.
"Lowly, lowly too damn lowly, ahhh, the times have changed, to think such a lowly mangrel had the heart to think it has the standing for me to speak with it.... Know your place!" Sayas felt bloodrush within his body.
His eyesight was losing focus. Blood had started trickling down his nose. Seeing this, Nikluas ran to him. Green light started to cover his teacher’s body. Doctor Khameyo, seeing this, felt disrespected..
He, a member of one of the top families in the city, has come to this room after feeling an intense light that has great healing properties. HIs family was in the pharmaceutical sector, Top of their industry and they were at the climax of crafting an advanced healing potion.
It is rumoured to have the properties to regrow limps. But with the latest research, breakthroughs might take years. But he felt hope return when he felt an intense healing light that filled so much vitality.
"Blind mice, truly blind mice. To think many in great positions in this city would be quick to receive me when I enter, and yet here you disregard my presence and tend to someone not even worthy breathing the same air as me"
The teacher wasn’t hurt, so Niklaus didn’t have to do much. When he heard what the man in the white labcoat said, he didn’t respond. This was obviously out of his league. Dr Khameyo saw that the young man didn’t say anything.
A smile escaped his lips. "Kid, it’s a shame that you awoke a healer class, the lowest of the low, the chances of you even becoming a doormat are next to nothing. But don’t despair just yet"
Listening, Niklaus raises an eyebrow. "You just might be in luck kid. Becoming one of the few ones to be associated with a huge family like mine" As he spoke, his finger pointed at the badge on the left chest of the coat.
An insignia of the Khameyo Family shown in broidary, the reason this man came with such arrogance, "You will get the change to be taken from a regular healer into someone who has the chance to break the level 100 mark, you should know what they said about that"
The last part of the sentence left Niklaus confused. Then he closed his eyes for a moment before he reopened them full of vigour and determination. "Sorry I have no interest in joining any organisation at the moment". His words were firm without any space for doubt.
This left Doctor Khameyo stunned, he knew hundreds, no, thousands who would kill for such an opportunity. "Wh... What did you say boy, I think you misspoke" As he spoke, his hands were reaching something within his coat.
Then at that moment the door opened. A man with a scar across his forehead and white goatee walked in. Behind him was Matilda, she walked in, head held high, but unlike her normal self, now she walked close behind the man, as though trying to stay in his shadow,
"Dr Khameyo what are you doing in here, I don’t remember anyone from your family having access to this facility" The man spoke smoothly, amicably as though talking to an acquaintance. The Doctor looked like he just swallowed something that got stuck on his throat.
The earlier arrogance, nowhere to be seen. ’If I just met him now, I’d think he is a stand up guy, this guy sure knows how to switch up fast’ Niklaus thought
"Gener... I mean school director, what do I..."
"Get out."
The man didn’t let him speak. He hadn’t even finished speaking the last words and the Doctor was already out the door. His sudden flee left the room silent, with three people looking at the door which just now closed.
The man then turned his attention back into the room. "I won’t waste time, your teacher should’ve already told you right?"
