"Ahem"
He cleared his throat louder, gaining the attention of the class. Niklaus looked at Matilda who still had her eyes on him, then gave a light nod with a bit of smile.
He then said in an almost silent voice." I’m Ok, thank you so much" His lowered voice was deep and held a bit of masculine energy for a boy his age.
Seeing that he was ok. Matilda turned back to the front of the class. The teacher had his back facing the class as he was scribbling something on the white board. HIs posture and the way he carried himself.
You could tell by a look that he is a veteran. Probably a high ranking officer. "Ok, let’s take it from yesterday. We were on the topic of Classes and talents, then talent branches"
His hand danced on the board noting down each of his words. "In a few minutes the awakening crystal will be coming to our classroom as soon as the other other classes are done with their awakening"
"So as we wait, let’s understand this important topic. Classes, as I’m sure many of you played games at one point and another. So you should know what they are, their power advantages, their drawbacks and most importantly, their intended use.
I want to make one thing importantly clear, there is no such thing as a weak class, just an inexperienced user"
Upon saying those words, murmurs started in the class. The students knew clearly, there were weak classes. They also knew there were classes that once you get them. Even if you do nothing. You are still guaranteed power.
Like utility class for example, you are forced to only know one job to the point of mastery. It would have been great if the world wasn’t as advanced as it is today. But machines and Ai could do the same if not better work than a blacksmith.
They could mass produce it just as quickly. Of course you could always level up your utility skill to the point that you could master the enchantment skill or better reinforcement skill. That makes your weapons hundreds times better than normal ones.
Unfortunately they would need to party up with someone who will have to protect them and fight monsters at the same time. Alas this is real life, a life lost can never be regained. The moment you enter dungeons. You should be ready to forfeit your life.
Then there are healers, the weakest of the bunch, yes they can heal you. But it is slow, sometimes it requires you to stand still for the healing to take effect. Not forgetting the most important fact.
The world has been focusing long and hard on improving public health, that even a level 50 healer can’t do as good a job as a magical potion. They are portable, they quickly to close wounds and heal hidden ailments.
When the gates started, people used to view healers like massiahs who could help heal a dying man. But now they are burdensome to take with. You need to constantly watch over them as they can’t even hold weapons.
Even though they gain twice as many points after every level up. Their weak physique and non lethal powers makes it a waste.
Thinking about all those healers who are just no different from a typical human, the students couldn’t help but shudder at the thought of awakening any of the weak classes.
Of course the teacher saw the expressions that were on his students’ faces, but he couldn’t do anything. Even he himself knew and understood that there are vast differences in power amongst classes.
But this was how the higher ups told him to say each year. "Ahem, silent, let’s continue" His words as a command the students went quiet and their attention returned to their homeroom teacher.
"Ok, then we have talents, these are innate, something that is within your DNA, they could be good, or bad. It depends on your habits and the environment you grew up in. They will also determine your unique branch."
As he was speaking, the class door suddenly opened, quickly attracting the entire class, the teacher included.
Soon a group of soldiers came walking in, with a man with glasses hanging on his nose, white lab coat and a tablet in hand.
"Aha, if it isn’t Doctor Meyers, good to see you." The Doctor returned a smile. "Mr Sayas, good to see you. We just finished in class B now, I have to say, this seems to be quite the year."
Listening to this the professor raised an eyebrow. " Ow, what seems to be the change Doctor?" His voice had a hint of curiosity.
The professor, seeing the interest in the teacher’s eyes, happily obliged." Well, a great amount of awakened this year seem to be combat focused, this has increased by at least 28% since last year"
He went in closer making sure only the teacher could hear him. "This will greatly reduce the pressure the higher ups have been having, the death toll has also increased lately. They had even considered putting a system that would also take the support class and utility class into the raids."
The teacher almost flinched when he heard that. The doctor continued. "The only reason it didn’t pass is because there seem to be some great entities who oppose this idea. Which is odd, I mean even if the class is weak, they are still considered awakened.
And apparently the moment you break past level 100, the class restrains loosen up. Meaning all this time we have been wasting potential military strength" Sayas’s eyes grew wide with this new revelation.
He saw the news on the world’s first awakener who broke through level 100. He didn’t know it would come with such benefits. Those who had been looked down upon had the chance to rise.
’This would have been good news, but who is willing to risk their lives for someone else. The high level support and utility class awakeners all come from rich backgrounds and those with connections.
Guilds had already started to focus on Utility class awakeners, and make them sign a slave contract, so that they could level up and use higher fortification skills’ Teacher Sayas lost in thought.
