As if to answer his question, the lights around him suddenly turned red, with a yellow sign showing caution.
[Warning, Warning, extraterrestrial Raider has been detected in City Sector C Block 3]
These words were displayed on any digital surface they possibly could, an AI generic voice repeating them as though afraid no one would be able to hear them.
’City Sector C Block 3, that’s not far from here. How did a raider gate manage to open this far in the city? Aren’t there supposed to be disruptors throughout the city?" His eyes looked afar with his heart racing.
That was the location the warning came from. It didn’t take long before what seemed to be a 20-story building started to shake and crumble under its own weight. It was a sight to behold.
Many civilians were frozen, unable to move under the pressure given by the presence within the dust of what was a building. Eyes glued in as heavy thuds of footsteps could be heard coming one after another.
Soon, an outline of a being, a silhouette of a great statue. A formidable presence with a shadow of what seems to be a wooden club within its clutches.
Niklaus tried moving his body, but nothing would listen to him. His feet were rooted to the ground. Beads of sweat rolled down his face. ’This is bad, this is really bad, it seems like a neural type monster. When is help getting here!!’ Panic started to set in.
Contrary to the situation, you would expect screams sounding out and chaos taking place and civilians trying to get to safety. But right now, everyone in the 500-radius was frozen.
Mentally aware of the situation, but their bodies became their prison. The only way they could express their fear was by the drumming beats of their hearts trying to jolt them awake.
Harrs Kunta Mora!!!
A voice that commanded fear sounded out; its sheer utterance had the ground shaking. Soon the owner of the Silhouette made his presence known.
A grey-skinned humanoid beast with one eye on its head instead of two, a bold head, and only wearing a short skin hide skirt. It was a towering 7 meter tall figure that commanded fear by its sheer presence.
Its muscular body looked to be brimming with energy, ready to pounce at anything at a moment’s notice.
Seeing it, Niklaus recognized it immediately. ’One eyed hermit, fuck... Fuck... Why is that beast doing here? How did it even open a gate?’ Fear struck him like a hammer.
Every eye in the area widened as soon as recognition was made. The Central Awakener government made it a point to release some files about all the beasts and monsters awakeners fought in their raids.
The eyes, which once held fear, almost immediately lost hope for life. As if to make their fears correct, the beast started to charge forth. With its heavy club, it swung. Taking down every person it came across like a gardener taking down weeds.
Each swing resulted in limbs being lost and heads flying. The neural paralysis and the bloodlust were the reason One eyed Hermit was feared by awakeners who were below level 10.
Soon the street was littered with mushed bodies, and blood flowed like a new river, paving a way. It was headed straight for Niklaus, making sure not to leave any being before it.
Suddenly it stopped. Lifted its hands towards the sky, then opened its mouth. From the fallen human, a white mist started to rise. It was hardly noticeable at first. But soon, the entire place looked like smoke from a burning forest.
As it fed on the smoke. Niklaus noticed the body of the beasts started to get more refined; the muscle became more bulky and toned. His thoughts slowed down a bit, making it hard for him to think.
By the time the beast finished, Niklaus noticed that the concept of time started to blur. The few minutes he spent here started to feel like hours.
The remains of the slaughtered humans now appeared like dried up meat with little to no vitality.
With renewed vigor, the beats went back to thinning out the population. Niklaus could hear murmurs of the frozen. Like the silent scream of the hopeless. Soon it appeared that it would be his turn.
’Life sure has a funny way to say fuck you. God will save you, they say. Bad people will have karma fall to them, they preach. Now here I am, reaching the final moment of my life. Looking at death coming to mow me down like an overgrown grass blade,
I should be praying, I should be asking for space in heaven, an eternity of peace. I was poor, hit rock bottom, and had nothing, this should be criteria one needs to be recognized by God... Well, I say fuck you to the afterlife, nothing good happens. Why should I fear peace’
Just as he was resigning himself to his fate. A huge blast came crashing down not very far from him. With all his might, he fought to change the direction his eyes were looking.
Soon he looked where the impact came from. From there he saw someone coming out of the crater. His eyes couldn’t believe what they were witnessing. ’Wh.. at,, ... she .. doi.. ng here’ it took great difficulty to form that simple question.
A girl who was a few meters shorter than him came out, a school bag nearly placed around her waist. Her clothing was pristine, as if dust was afraid to touch a hair from her. A long, luscious, black, silky hair was flowing down, reaching her waist.
A long white sword in her hand, her enchanting dark eyes were lasered onto the beast. Her body was already in an attacking pose. Without wasting another second, she disappeared from where she stood, with a flash of light bouncing off her blade.
The next thing Niklaus noticed was that the control of his body returned to him.
