Healers Shouldn't be this Powerful

Chapter 31: Back to Raid

The sky was painted a brilliant blue. The world welcomed a pleasantly warm day, with two suns hanging like twin luminous pearls in the heavens. , threatening to blind anyone who dares to stare at it.

The warm sunlight kissed Niklaus’s skin; the warmth it carried was enough to remind him there were two suns overhead. The team has just finished relaxing and Crato has teleported them to a lush land full of vegetation they weren’t familiar with. Red vines with glowing sap. And trees with crystal-like leaves sticking out.

No more were they surrounded by wetlands. Now the landscape was serine. The view looked like a painting done by a master. The breeze sneaked in from the ocean, singing as the wind passed by the tropical vegetation.

I might be wrong, but I think Crato just sent us to a vacation spot" Daxi couldn’t help but comment. Matilda quickly looked at her. "Don’t let your guard down. Scan the location, I asked to be sent near manageable beasts. We need to gain experience, "she commanded.

Daxi quickly straightened up her back, she nodded her head, then took a deep breath. Her hand came together at a praying position. After a few moments the shadow under her feet changed, from mirroring her shape.

Into a dark circle with her at the center. Soon it solidly compressed itself. What happened next had Niklaus fascinated. It started to burble like water in a lake.

Shadow Sonar Scan

She raised her leg then stumped down. As soon as it hit the ground, the shadow started to ripple in all directions like water. They waited for a moment. Niklaus was quite impressed by what he was looking at.

Silence took hold within the group. Mostly because they didn’t want to disturb Daxi’s concentration. A few seconds later Niklaus saw the same ripples return from different locations, the moment they hit Daxi’s foot she opened her eyes, a smile then took root on her face.

"I thought you said you asked The City to bring us to someplace manageable. Or does it hold that much confidence in us?" Though her words indicate formidable foes have been detected, there was no fear in her words.

"How many, and how powerful?" Her team leader asked.

"Well, I’d say a few dozen, with some of them almost at Beta, seem we have much work in our hands" As she spoke, her twin swords materialised in her hands.

"Ow don’t forget to use the neural protection potion we got from Crato, they are too close to one another I suspect we are about to face the Laeken Beats, more formidable than the once we avoided earlier"

As she spoke a bottle of clear liquid found its way in her hand, She opened the cap and emptied the content inside into her mouth. The rest did the same.

"Follow me"

They left the beach, walking into the jungle in front of them, each step deliberate. It didn’t take them long to come across a pack of Laeken Beasts. There were around nine in number. "Ok, remember, they are good at team work, fortunately their biggest attack just got nerfed so we don’t have to worry about that.

Are you all ready?" Matilda asked. To which she got silent nods as the answer. With that she quickly jumped out of hiding, When the Laeken heard a violet shake of the tree branches. They saw one of their members down.

Next to it was a humanoid creature with a bloodied long shimmering weapon stained with its blood. They didn’t waste time. They quickly opened their jaws and howled. When Matilda and her group heard it, their feet got rooted to the ground.

The beats quickly ran to them with their jaws opened. Just as one of them was about to have their jaws on Matilda’s throat, a long spear pierced right into one ear coming off the other. Then with a slash down its head pooped open like a watermelon.

Gladious then used a gravitational heavy spear to thwart a laeken that tried to sneak up on hit, right in the back. Unfortunately that didn’t bring it down for the count. The beats recovered but only to find its spine was broken.

The feet at the back were being dragged. It’s struggle didn’t last long. The shadow next to it rippled for a moment then quickly a sword slash slit its head clean off its body. The remaining saw the brutal killing of their brethren.

Their grey fur started to fade, turning pale. Before they started to turn crimson red. "I think there’s a leader nearby, Only he could order them to overload their cores" Daxi reported as she was emerging from Gladious’s shadow.

She wasn’t wrong, right now there was a huge laeken beats quite far from them, its high imposing stature towering the trees but still far enough to hide from the team. Well that is what it thought it was doing anyway.

"So, this is where that large life signature sent me huh" A casual voice spoke behind it. The beast quickly turned around, it saw Niklaus strolling towards it with a calm face. The aura around him spoke of his large energy, but still it was soft, as you would expect from a healer.

Seeing the disrespect, it swiped its sharp claws horizontally and an energy arc came off it, cutting down any tree its way. Seeing this, Niklaus started running towards the attack and with a quickly just and an effortless horizontal twist, he slid perfectly through the light energy slashes.

Seeing that its attack didn’t work it sent a second attack, This time a double claw energy attack. The two beams crossed over one another making it hard for anyone to just between them. "Oh, now that’s just cheating" He said as he used his explosive speed to get out of the way.

But that’s what the beast was expecting, it cut him off on the side with a swipe of its tail. As he saw it coming he used his hands to shield himself. The attack sent him crashing on a tree, breaking it upon touch.

Just as he made his way on his feet, another slash attack near him came unannounced. He quickly got away but not without any scratch. His hand soon hit the ground. Seeing its handy work. Niklaus could swear he saw a smug look on its face. ’No, I’m seeing things’
