Niklaus sat on the floor, his mind elsewhere. The team had left, leaving him alone with his parents. ’Who could be so powerful, that he even had an advanced and powerful race to seek a way to stop evolving?.’
His mind was racing between his parents and the Sacta race. When he scanned the Sacta. He saw an active gene repressant. Trying to eliminate gene codes that have something to do with awakening.
Of course this is impossible. As long as something exists, it already joined the race of evolution. Knowing one thing that you didn’t know a few seconds ago is a form of evolution.
To awaken is not just gaining power. It awakens an aspect within the soul that always existed there. To cut that off, might as well mean you are eliminating existence.
As long as there is mana, no matter how small, the body will always find a way to absorb it. "Crato, you said my parents were badly hurt when you found them. If they have the same Bloodline as me, shouldn’t they already be healing?"
Silence took center stage before the AI spoke. "You would think so. But there seems to be a foreign energy circulating within your parents’ bodies. Now I’d advise against trying to scan it.
It seems to be sentient. And when I first tried to scan it, it tried to invade my system. Fortunately I’m just a program with the whole city as my body. Had I been human, I’m afraid I would be dead.
Your parents are strong enough to keep the invading parasites at bay but not strong to destroy it. When I saw their physique and how it could help maintain the Sacta stay alive, I invited them.
They share their physique healing skills with the Sacta while the sacta provide them with the needed mana to keep the energy within them at bay.
Unlike you, it appears your parents just recently awakened their physique. Had they been given a change. They would have recorded enough genetics that would’ve allowed them a chance to fight off this energetic parasite"
As the AI spoke, Niklaus only heard one part. "They... They are in pain." His voice had a sense of defeat. Eyes lost in the blurry sight caused by the tears streaming down his face.
He was down on the floor, both hands on his shoulder. His chin rested on his arms. A feeling of dread, and hopelessness coming over him. "They are in pain" He said once more. His words barely leaving his lips.
The well conditioned room started to feel cold, colour drained off the walls. His chest heaving back and forth so quickly, he was starting to lose consciousness. "They are in pain... why can’t I do anything?"
Suddenly warmth came to him like a lost child finally finding their home. Walls seem to be regaining their vibrant colors back. When he opened his eyes. He saw long black hair flowing down his shoulders.
Behind him came a soft touch, bringing his cold body back to the warmth of the first spring. Matilda hugged him from behind. The cold goddess had melted and was now looking at him with genuine care.
"Donlt lose yourself, they are fighting, fighting for a chance to see you again. They did this knowing you will save them. They didn’t give up. This pain is but a small price for them to see their child again. Don’t lose yourself. You have much resting on you"
She spoke slowly, her voice gentle like a summer breeze. Niklaus’s breath started to regulate. He wiped away his tears. "Thank you." That’s all he said. That’s all he could say. She helped him wipe off his tears. Then looking in her eyes, she gave him a knowing nod.
He stood up with determination. "How long can they hold out like this?" He asked the AI.
"By my estimation, they have 3 years. Their strength could keep it at bay for that long, but this parasitic energy seems to continuously try to learn their weakness. And since your parents are healing everyone continuously.
They are constantly evolving as well, unfortunately there’s only so much they can do, the population is limited and the day they reach the last member and assimilate their DNA, should be around 3 years from now" Crato answered
Hearing the answer Niklaus stood for a minute. "Matilda how long did it take the Sugre, the level 100 awakener to reach that status?" His eyes focused on his team leader.
"Sugre is seen as a prodigy, able to break past each frequency milestone with relative ease. So it took him I think 12 years."
Hearing the answer, Niklaus was surprised by the count. 12 years might sound long but each break through frequency gets hard as you grow in power. The less your potential the less likely you would go from Alpha to Beta.
Which is why many awakeners focus on beasts within dungeons and gates. Then the ones that invaded the world. Because those are easier to deal with, their power is always relatively weak.
While few are chosen to become raiders. Raiders have a higher chance of breaking through each frequency milestone. While regular awakeners get stuck at peak Beta, Delta or any other frequency with no ways of breaking past it.
But there’s been a theory that the great wish is still in effect, meaning with each generation’s potential is higher than the last. At the same time it means monsters of higher level are going to invade the earth.
So Sugre from the last generation has higher potential and those from the same generation are nearing level 100 as well.
"You think you can reach it within 3 years?" She asked. Looking dead in his eyes without flinching. "No," he answered.
"Wh.."
Before she could finish he continued.
"I plan to break past that number, maybe even surpass the current high level. Sugre" His declared with passion burning in his eyes. Matilda stood there, looking for a while. Then she turned.
"Good, thought you were turning soft on me for a second there. Prepare yourself, we still have a raid we have to continue." Then her eyes shifted higher. "If it’s not much to ask, please send us closer to easy to manage beats please"
"No problem," The AI replied.
