Healers Shouldn't be this Powerful

Chapter 35: The Mysterious Artifact reappears

They came with arms stretched to each side. Walking slowly with their eyes staring instantly at the team of foreign visitors, their hearts audible through their veins with some bit of sweat running down their necks.

Soon as they reached Niklaus and his team, they kneeled down with their arms stretched forward and bowed with their forehead touching the ground. Their huge bodies appeared imposing despite their vulnerable position.

Silence hung around them for a moment. Only baited breaths and questioning eyes shifting between the two. Then the team’s attention shifted to Matilda. Though she kept quiet, she understood, she shouldn’t wait for long.

"Fine, I’ll allow you my ear, state your case" Her words unhurried. Also confused her teammates.

Gorath and Zumba looked at each other for a moment then gave each other a silent nod. "Thank you for your ear" Gorath spoke, then both of them straightened. But never got off the ground

"I’ll start by saying, what I’m about to say is concerning my race, and you are not obligated to help. But It would be much appreciated if you could assist. It has not been a long ago, a strange object was found inside a cave.

The object in question was odd in its design and looked more like a pot, or lamp. Made of materials unknown by our people, Seems sophisticated to be from our world. At first this object stood in the village treasury, unbothered by anyone. That was until the village Shaman returned from the mountain"

The group listened, Niklaus still unsettled, and a bit baffled by the fact that something he once considered a mindless beat, unintelligible and wild in nature could lead a life, a part of a community that was civilised.

What he had witnessed on the day of his awakening told a different story. Gorath continued with his story.

"Normally once the Shaman returns from his communication with the spirits, the village chief would order the huntsman to go and collect beasts from the jungle and the distillians would take out their most priced wine, with the women preparing a feast for a welcoming celebration.

But it was different this year" He stopped for a moment to catch a breath. "What had returned wasn’t the sharman we knew and respected. His eyes weren’t the ones well known and loved by the people

After returning, he preached odd things, saying he is a follower of the Ninth Son, a member of the Sons of Solomon" As soon as those words fell, the wind went silent, the jungle itself took a seat and kept quiet and listened as well. The atmosphere within the group shifted, Eyes widened and turned to look at one another.

Gorath noticed but didn’t say anything. "You said he himself spoke those very words" Niklaus asked. "Yes, He said something about the vail finally breaking, opening his eyes to the truth, and had seen what it means to be a God among men. He then demonstrated his new found power.

Unlike our power which could neurological paralyze someone through fear, he went a step further, and managed to gain control of one of our warriors with a single thought. He tapped into the fear the warrior had and stuffed out his will to replace it with his own." He added

Niklaus stood for a moment, then asked. "Then what does this object have to do with this?" He questioned.

Zumba spoke this time, his tone a bit worried and shaken. "He said, that device could grant our race power, allowing to awaken something called Classes, capable of granting abilities other workers such as yourselves have"

As soon as those words came out, everyone’s mind came to one thing. THE GREAT WISH.

"Could this be the artifact, or lamp used to grant that streamer the wish?" Daxi asked, her voice hushed that only her team could hear. As soon as those words came out of her mouth, everyone’s eye grew in size, as if she said the quiet part out loud.

Zumba continued. "He went and took it, then went to the Warrior who was still under his control, and used some shamic magic..."

He paused for a moment.

"... Wait, I think I should call him Wizard magic because that’s what he said his class was now.

I don’t know what he did to that warrier, but after the energy surrounding him was absorbed into his body, his presence became more pronounced, hard to ignore. The air shifted around him.

He took his club, the bashed one of our clansman, soon after a whisper of smoke came out then entered his body, intensifying his strength once more"

Zumba’s words confirmed their suspicion. ’Could the wish granting Ginny lamp really be in this dimension, is it the same lamp or different and what could the Sons of Solomon be wanting with it’ Niklaus contemplated.

"Is the cave you speak about closed off or could it be accessed?" Finally Matilda asked. That question got the team interested in the answer.

Seeing the intense eyes boring down on them. Gorath and Zumba quickly shook their heads yes. "But we have to hurry, the Shaman seems to be interested in revisiting the cave soon." Garath added.

Then Niklaus thought of something. "I am curious about one thing, If you have been given a chance to gain power, so much power like us, the invaders of your world, why are you against it?"

The Gorath looked at each other for a moment.

"Because for one to be allowed a chance at that power, they have to swear allegiance to the Sons of Solomon, at first we were interested. A chance to break the limits set upon us by the great Gods should be quite interesting. But I overheard something when it was my turn to go to his hut.

Apparently the wizard has promised to the 9th Son to coerce us to willingly join so that he could explore our DNA. I didn’t know what that meant at first, but as the conversation went. I realised we weren’t being a part of something great. Only then did I understand. We were never disciples. Never allies. We were ingredients. And an ingredient must offer itself willingly, otherwise the experiment fails. .

And for that experiment to succeed the ingredients need to be willing not forced"
