Healers Shouldn't be this Powerful

Waking up from his bed, in a messy small room, overlooking a huge digital billboard Niklaus was feeling groggy, the light pollution making it hard for him to sleep.

On the digital billboard there was a man of formidable stature, his beard ragged and a wide grin on his face of a man on top of the world.

It has not been a hundred years since the day of a great wish. It was said a young man obsessed with reading webnovels and manga came across a mysterious lamp in a pawnshop.

It looked much like the lamp in the kids stories about a magical being who is able to grant the owner of the lamp 3 wishes. This story would have been absurd to those listening to it. But this young man happened to be a well known streamer.

And millions had seen it happen live, unfortunately the footage of this happening has since disappeared making the story lose its credibility by the passing day.

But that was of no worry for Niklaus as he had far greater matters he had to face later today. The day of awakening has come, meaning to day his whole life was about to be decided, is he going to be just another common awakener, being part of the 99.99% statistics who awaken classes that bare no real value to society.

Or will he stand at the top of humanity, a few could ever dream about. This might also be a chance for him to change his bad luck streak around. For the past year he has been getting one bad news after another.

The latest is that he might lose his house, his parents disappeared during one of their extraction dungeon raids. Which is a very dangerous kind of dungeon because instead of a small confined world with limited space.

An extraction dungeon is basically like an extraction game, where you are thrown into a world unknown to us. For some unknown reason. The natives of this world seem to always be hostile towards invaders.

Even if they are for the same reason, as dungeons and raiding are relatively new, the world is still asking questions about them.

They even wonder if they are manifests made from a simple wish. There are many skeptics.

Though his parents were not that much assuming in terms of strengths and just another typical awakener, they still held some strength.

Giving them the power to raise other worlds and amass great wealth. Unfortunately, due to his young age, his extended family took advantage of him, promising to take care of him.

These promises didn’t hold long. As soon as the money got in their hands, they quickly changed, he could still see the eyes his aunts and uncles looked at him. Like a burden ready to hold them down.

He couldn’t forget the disgust their eyes held as they wore new attire of fine fabric. Jewellery that promised to weigh them down if they put on another, and cars he could only look at online.

The contrast to how they behaved and treated him while his parents were still alive was surprising. Their act could win them an award. Thinking about it, all he could do was clench his fist. At least they weren’t heartless and threw him in the streets.

They bought this old apartment for him after they threw him out of his old home, the only place he ever knew. His hands clenched tightly and shook violently while his bloodshot eyes looked at the corner of the room, lost in his thoughts.

Quickly his mind returned. Sigh ’I shouldn’t waste the little energy I have on such matters, today is awakening day and I need to sleep so not to get to school late’

With that he laid back in bed, closed his eyes and started to slowly breath, controlling his exhales, soon his mind and heart was relaxed and he went to sleep.

As he was deep in his slumber, a hue of light suddenly enveloped him, the Golden light was majestic in its warm light as though an embrace of a caring mother. The light didn’t take long, soon it went away as though it was never there in the first place.

Morning came quickly, the night light was replaced by an orange light of the morning sun, sneaking in through the window, quickly finding its way to Niklaus’s eyes. Following that was his phone ringing, signifying the alarm for him to wake up.

Niklaus didn’t wait for a second ring, his hand quickly snaked its way to the screen to switch off the alarm and with the same momentum he flew off the bed, and quickly went to the shower.

Like always there was no hot water, but Niklaus was too excited to care, he bathed as though the water was in the best temperature, his movements were swift as though practiced thousands of times.

After sniffing out his old outfit, he found jeans that were fashionably torn on the knees and a white shirt that had a brown stain near the belly. To cover it, he wore a black jacket with a hoody. And quickly he ran out.

He went to a NightWeaver Military academy, one of the best academies in the country. Before coming here, he went to a prestigious school. Unfortunately his family cancelled it, saying it’s a waste of money.

Fortunately his academic records were so good that when he applied for this school, he was also given a scholarship. This was one of the best things he had ever heard since the death of his parents.

He was willing to do a part time job to pay for his tuition but the school counsellor viewed his situation and said it would be a waste of his time and might jeopardize his studies if he had to worry about the finances.

The walk to school seemed longer today. The roads and turns he was all too familiar today had a certain feel to them.
