Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

"This..." Isaac froze for a moment. He hadn’t expected this. ’Is there really such a good deal?’

Philo wasn’t surprised. In fact, after returning yesterday, she and Angel had forced themselves to review what had happened, despite their discomfort. They’d realized that Isaac’s technique might not be as powerful as it first appeared.

The people they had dealt with yesterday were mostly Adventurers with zero Magic Resistance. The few Magic Net Mages present had extremely limited resistance as well.

Although Magic Net Mages are Casters, they don’t have any Magic Power in their bodies. They rely on something called the [Magic Net] to use Magic. According to Legend, it was created by a certain Legendary Mage to allow untalented mortals to safely master the ability of Casting.

It was once all the rage before Arcanists came along, but unfortunately, due to its extremely low power ceiling, it eventually became a class exclusive to Adventurers, just like Warriors.

And it was because of them that Philo and Angel had lowered their guard against Isaac’s Magic, at least a little. Even though Magic Net Mages have no internal Magic Power, they still had a few Defense Magics active, which was why they had barely managed to retain their human forms.

Based on this, Philo and Angel reached a bold conclusion: if one’s Magic Resistance was high enough, it might be possible to ignore this Magic entirely!

Still, they were only slightly relieved. Who knew what other Magic Isaac had up his sleeve?

The most fearsome part of the power he displayed yesterday wasn’t his Magic, but his bizarre Mental State!

This guy was a Mad Witch, after all!

A Mad Witch who even dared to steal from an Outer God!

There weren’t many people as crazy as him these days. It didn’t hurt to be cautious.

"Tsk. So there really is such a good deal." Isaac sighed with feeling. ’As expected, in this Extraordinary World, power is everything!’

"But we don’t intend to just sit and wait. No matter how many Divine Lamps descend, we’re going to act. We’ll secure the items first and figure out the rest later!" With that, Philo spread out a map and continued her analysis of the situation in Philis Town for Isaac and Angel.

And so, time slowly passed. In contrast to the busy Philo and Angel, Isaac was as leisurely as ever. He spent his days either in his room studying Magic or out on the streets shopping.

Of course, he was going out a little less often now. After all, whenever he did, everyone stared at him as if they were seeing a ghost. The feeling was thrilling at first, but it quickly became annoying.

Just like that, a week later, two golden shooting stars streaked across the night sky!

The Little Divine Lamps had descended again!

"Two of them?" Standing by the window, Isaac watched the two shooting stars fall and narrowed his eyes. ’That direction... it doesn’t seem to be in one of the partitioned zones...’

’In other words... they’re unclaimed?’

"Shushu! Liu Li! Let’s go!" The thought had barely formed when Isaac vaulted out the window. He conjured a pumpkin carriage in midair, scooped up Shushu and Liu Li, and immediately sped toward the landing site of the nearest Little Divine Lamp!

’An agreement?’

’What agreement?’

’Grab it first, ask questions later!’

’It doesn’t matter if they only have one now—even if they had all three, I’d still go after this. The strong make the rules!’

’If I can’t use it myself, can’t I just sell it?’

’You’ve got to be kidding me.’

Thus, Isaac didn’t hesitate for a moment, rushing toward the nearest landing site. Along the way, he ran into Angel and Philo and let them aboard.

"What are you two doing here?" Isaac asked curiously after they were on board.

"It’s not that we were here, but that we needed to be on your carriage, so you had to pass by here," Angel said with a smile, patting the Magic Book on her lap. She didn’t mind revealing a bit of her power to Isaac; it was a foundation for their future cooperation.

"Hm?" Isaac tilted his head, confused. He didn’t quite understand at first, but he soon recalled her ability—the Chronicles of Time!

Isaac’s pupils constricted. He stared at Angel in shock. "You manipulated my decision!?"

Along with the shock, an irrepressible trace of killing intent surfaced in Isaac’s heart. This feeling of being silently manipulated was absolutely awful!

"You’ve misunderstood." Angel shook her head at Isaac’s shock, which was precisely why she had wanted to demonstrate her ability first. "I didn’t manipulate your decision; the Chronicles of Time doesn’t have that power. My future self simply established a past where Philo and I would meet you here. To make that past a reality, the Little Divine Lamp’s landing site was altered, because the choice you made in another timeline was to head for the nearest landing site."

Isaac’s brow furrowed. "So, your Chronicles of Time can’t manipulate other people’s consciousness?"

"No, you’re wrong again." Angel shook her head once more. "My ability is to change the past. To transform the past into the result I write, everything will change—a person’s will, the rules of the world, anything. It all depends on what I want to change. I can only control the outcome, not the process."

Isaac’s brow relaxed slightly. He was beginning to understand.

Whether his will had been manipulated or altered had no direct connection to Angel. It was all just a means to achieve the outcome she had set.

In other words, the Chronicles of Time was essentially omnipotent, yet simultaneously, it could do nothing. Angel couldn’t control the power that manipulated and altered all things.

Simply put, she could change the past so that she and Philo appeared in Isaac’s pumpkin carriage, but she couldn’t directly manipulate Isaac into choosing to go to the nearest Divine Lamp’s landing site.

She could only make them appear in the pumpkin carriage; she couldn’t directly alter the Divine Lamp’s landing site.

’Hm? No, that’s not right. Maybe it’s not that she *can’t* do it, but that she can’t do it *yet*...’ Isaac relaxed slightly. ’If that’s the case, then it’s still manageable...’

He gave Angel a long, deep look. ’As expected of the most Mysterious Power of Time. Truly terrifying!’

At the same time, an unavoidable question surfaced in his mind. With such a powerful ability, would Angel really have been abandoned by her family?

She was an Origin Witch, after all. Her power wouldn’t go on a rampage like that of other Witches. Though strange phenomena were inevitable, this world wasn’t a magic-less world like his past life. If your child suddenly developed strange yet controllable abilities, you’d be overjoyed!

Besides, taking a huge step back, even if her powers had gone out of control and resulted in a tragic childhood, couldn’t she just change the past?

Even if she was disappointed with her family and didn’t want to live with them, what about her crippled legs?

Surely she didn’t enjoy being in a wheelchair, right?

The more Isaac learned about Angel, the more questions he had.

And without a doubt, it was all connected to Princess Philo, and to the ominous feeling in his own heart...

In response to Isaac’s stare, Angel simply offered an apologetic smile, as if slightly embarrassed. But what she was truly thinking, no one could say.

Soon, the pumpkin carriage arrived at the location. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a chaotic free-for-all like last time. It seemed the Divine Lamp had landed right at the feet of an Adventurer party. They had snatched it up, hidden it, and immediately split up to make their escape.

"Tsk. They split up in four directions." After getting the information from a trembling Adventurer, Isaac waved him away. He then turned to Philo, who was Casting a tracking spell. "Anything?"

"It’s no good." Philo stopped what she was doing, shaking her head in resignation. "They’ve sealed the Divine Lamp’s magical fluctuations. They must have come prepared. Let’s split up and search."

"Fine, let’s split up." Isaac shrugged helplessly, and the three of them went their separate ways.

He didn’t take it too seriously, though. ’After all, more will appear later,’ he thought. ’There’s no rush.’
