Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

The Lord of R’lyeh was different from the White Whale. As an ancient, cunning Evil God, it dabbled in far more Authorities. Thus, its Void was not filled with the Power of Origin like the White Whale’s, but was instead hung with countless Stars, just like the Black Orc God’s.

Isaac closed his eyes, sensing the information transmitted by the Stars. Among these numerous Stars, he had to find something that could complete his Dimension World.

Soon, Isaac locked onto his target.

It was a Star that emitted a seven-colored glow, suffused with a dreamlike aura.

Among the sky full of Stars in the Lord of R’lyeh’s domain, it was inconspicuous, but it was exactly what Isaac needed most.

After finding his target, Isaac didn’t hesitate. He immediately channeled the ritual’s power and began to steal the power of this seven-colored Star.

However, just as Isaac made his move, the unexpected happened—Isaac was exposed!

"...Mortal, I shall bestow upon... Huh? Mortal! You court death!!!"

Unlike the careless Master of Billions of Flesh and the Black Orc God, the Lord of R’lyeh was very perceptive. The instant Isaac made his move, it sensed his little trick, which made it incomparably furious!

Countless bolts of black lightning, accompanied by a violent storm, swept over!

Yet Isaac remained unfazed. On one hand, he continuously urged the Lord of R’lyeh to complete the transaction. He had prepared thoroughly, with a margin for error as high as one thousand percent!

This one thousand percent was the price he had already paid. When the Lord of R’lyeh responded to the ritual, it meant it had already accepted this price. Therefore, before it could break through the ritual’s protection, it had to complete the transaction within a certain time or suffer an extremely severe penalty!

On the other hand, since he was already exposed, Isaac no longer held back. He began to brazenly plunder the power of the seven-colored Star from the Mysterious Void, engaging the Lord of R’lyeh in a direct confrontation within it!

The price, however, was that his margin for error was dropping rapidly.

"Damn you, mortal! Robber! Was this your real goal?"

The Lord of R’lyeh was furious. Although its intervention had caused the speed at which Isaac was plundering the Dream Origin to become incredibly slow, it was still losing something, and this was something it absolutely could not tolerate!

Normally, a mere mortal wouldn’t even be able to touch their power, let alone plunder or steal it. This was because before even touching their power, a weak mortal would first be twisted by an Evil God’s Force Field.

But Legendary Mages were different. Times had changed. The Legendary Mages of today used the Gate of Legends to trade with them. Until they broke through the Gate of Legends, all their power would be blocked, and they could only watch helplessly as a Legendary Mage did as he pleased.

Originally, the power of the Gate of Legends wasn’t this strong. After all, these rituals only channeled its power; they didn’t grant true mastery over it. The gods still had a chance to break through.

However...

For some reason, the power of the Gate of Legends channeled by this tiny mortal was abnormally strong!

Forget about stopping him, it felt that if it didn’t complete its side of the deal soon, the penalty would descend!

The even harsher reality was that it was out of time. It had to complete the transaction.

Unless... Isaac continued to plunder its power even after the transaction was complete...

At this thought, the Lord of R’lyeh gradually calmed its anger. While obstructing Isaac in the Void World, it began to record the method for stealing Dimensional Magic Power in a Magic Book.

It had already realized that it likely couldn’t affect Isaac in any way before the ritual ended. So, it decided to screw Isaac over—it subtly altered the concept of the item being traded!

Isaac wanted the knowledge of how to extract Magic Power from a Dimension, but what it gave him was the knowledge of how to steal Dimensional Magic Power.

The two were very similar, but only superficially. In reality, they were not the same. The former was legitimate use, while the latter...

...was also legitimate use, except it came with a tiny, tiny little side effect.

Namely, if used too much, one would be reduced to a Follower of a Demon God!

’Dimensional Demon Gods are even more generous than us Evil Gods!’

’Naturally, they also collect a much steeper price!’

’Anyway, Isaac is screwed! I’ve decreed it! It won’t matter even if the Light God himself shows up!’

Soon, as the final Demon God rune sank into the Magic Book before Isaac, the transaction was officially complete.

Unfortunately, under the Lord of R’lyeh’s expectant gaze, Isaac did not linger in the Mysterious Void. Instead, he decisively withdrew, taking the power of the seven-colored Star with him and ending the ritual.

’After all, my margin for error has already dropped to five hundred thirty-two percent. It would be dangerous to continue.’

The Lord of R’lyeh: ...

’Seriously, buddy? You were so aggressive when you were robbing me, and now you’re running away when the Gate of Legends still has half its power left? How the hell are you so bold and so cowardly at the same time?’

Watching the spot where Isaac had departed, the slowly fading Lord of R’lyeh’s eyes flickered. Beyond its surprise, it understood one thing—Legendary Mages were about to become great again!

’So the question is, should I ride this tailwind and, like my old friends, attempt Ascension to Divinity anew in the guise of a Legendary Mage?’

’Should I take the gamble?’

In the sunless Deep Sea, a pair of enormous, scarlet eyes slowly opened. Across thousands of worlds, it gazed at the world where Isaac resided. A moment later, it closed its eyes again and returned to its slumber.

’Forget it. I’m not making the jump. Gamblers always come to a bad end. It’s not as if some of my old friends who made the leap weren’t devoured. I’d better just go back to sleep.’

The Deep Sea fell silent once more.

"Phew~ That was close. I can’t believe I was discovered."

Meanwhile, Isaac, having ended the ritual, let out a breath, his heart still pounding with fear. He hadn’t expected the Lord of R’lyeh to be so sharp; it had discovered him the moment he made his move. As a result, he hadn’t managed to steal very much.

’Still, it’s fine. It just turned into a small profit. I didn’t come out at a loss.’

Isaac raised his hand and looked at the Seven-Colored Radiance that appeared in his palm, a smile appearing on his face.

The Dream Origin. It came from the Dream Dimension meticulously crafted by the Lord of R’lyeh. It was the core power of the Dream Dimension, the foundation of everything within it!

The Dream Dimension, in turn, was an Authority the Lord of R’lyeh had newly grasped. However, this Dimension was still very weak, which was why it was still an Evil God, not a Dimensional Demon God.

Of course, what made Isaac happiest was that the success rate for the Lord of R’lyeh’s ritual was still a surprising ten percent!
