Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

When Isaac made deals with the Outer Gods, he knew to be sneaky, to do it in the dark while hiding his identity. But that Philo character, she brazenly used the Emperor’s Decree to do it right out in the open!

As this thought occurred to him, Isaac froze. An idea had just popped into his head...

’Don’t tell me the Emperor was besieged by Outer Gods and then kicked the bucket because of this, was he?’

"HISS!" Isaac sucked in a sharp breath, then said to Caesar with a grave expression, "Brother, you have to stay far away from the Eldest Princess. That woman is a true lunatic!"

Caesar looked at Isaac in surprise. ’You have the gall to call someone else crazy?’

’Who gave you that kind of confidence?’

Nevertheless, Caesar nodded, humbly accepting the warning. After all, it was a gesture of concern from his beloved younger brother.

"Don’t worry, I understand."

The moment he finished speaking, the space around them distorted, and they were back in the banquet hall. No one around them seemed to react, apparently oblivious to the golden light that had just shimmered around Caesar. Only Gaia and Cheryl, standing in another corner of the hall, noticed what had happened. They cast a glance in their direction before quickly looking away.

What happened next was simple. Caesar went to give his reply to the Terra Royal Family, while Isaac continued to wander through the banquet hall, his mind occupied with thoughts of his Mage Tower.

A Mage Tower was a Wizard’s ultimate asset. It was no exaggeration to say that inside their own Mage Tower, a Wizard’s combat effectiveness would increase by an entire tier.

At least, that’s what Isaac knew to be true for anyone below Tier Four. It wasn’t just a theoretical boost on paper; actual battle records had proven it time and again.

But not all Mage Towers were created equal. Besides needing to be compatible with a Wizard’s own particular school of Magic, many facilities could be added as extras. Cheryl’s Mage Tower, for instance, was specially outfitted with an incredibly powerful Magical Cannon.

Theoretically, the investment in a Mage Tower could be limitless. You could pour an infinite amount of money into it!

However, Isaac didn’t need to go overboard. For one, the Terra Royal Family weren’t fools; they wouldn’t give him an unlimited budget. For another, he wouldn’t even be able to use equipment that was too advanced, and it might even interfere with the tower’s core functions.

Therefore, the most important aspect of a Mage Tower was actually compatibility. It wasn’t just a weapon; it was a Wizard’s laboratory, and even a tool for production.

A large portion of Cheryl’s Mage Tower was dedicated to production lines for Golems and Demonic Puppets. Other Mage Towers focused on living quarters and laboratory space; these were communal Mage Towers, whose primary function was to train Wizard Apprentices.

As for Isaac’s own tower...

To be honest, he really hadn’t figured out what kind of Mage Tower he wanted to build...

He hadn’t really established his own school of Magic yet. In combat, he mainly relied on Summoning Demons, but his Demons could revert to their base flesh and rest quietly in the Flesh Nest within his Dimension World. They didn’t need separate living areas, nor did they require food.

If he had to define his school, it would probably be a nascent form of the "School of Outer God Dominion." But building a Mage Tower based on that concept... never mind finding a Wizard Team that would dare take the job, Isaac himself wouldn’t dare to approve such a design.

He didn’t have many uses for a Mage Tower at the moment. A laboratory was one, just barely. While his current lab was high-quality, having been salvaged from another Mage Tower, it had still been dismantled. It was no substitute for the real thing.

It was sufficient for now, but it was bound to become obsolete over time.

Beyond a laboratory, his only other needs were raising Demons and cultivating Demonized Flesh. The former would require internal space within the Mage Tower, for which mature construction plans already existed. The latter was Isaac’s own research project, which would require the tower’s Magic Pool.

Other than those, Isaac had no further requirements...

At most, he’d want to equip some offensive and defensive components, but those were standard issue for any Mage Tower.

If those were his only needs...

...a basic Mage Tower would actually be sufficient. At most, he’d need an extra Magic Pool and a dedicated Magic Power supply system to avoid having the cultivation of Demonized Flesh interfere with the tower’s primary functions.

But in that case...

...it felt like he’d be getting the short end of the stick...

This was the Terra Royal Family, after all!

These were the people who could casually toss out a hundred Golems. To not take advantage of such a golden opportunity would be a little unreasonable. But then again, what exactly should he choose?

"Sigh..." Isaac took a sip of orange juice and let out a long sigh. He never thought he’d be the kind of person to worry about something like this.

’Having too much money and not knowing how to spend it... Unbelievable...’

In the end, even by the time the banquet concluded, Isaac still hadn’t figured it out. Fortunately, the Terra Royal Family wasn’t in a rush. The funds could be transferred anytime within the next year, so Isaac could take his time to think.

A week had passed since his return. The research team from the Sect still wasn’t ready, so the lecture had to be postponed again. As a result, Isaac had shifted the focus of his experiments to Secret Skills.

His research on Secret Skills was divided into two parts. The first was guiding the Saint Master in learning Secret Skills, which would then be used as a springboard to devour the power of a Demon God. This part was proceeding very smoothly; the Saint Master had already learned its first Secret Skill—Scorching Beam.

It was a Secret Skill from the Purgatory Demon God that could fire a high-temperature, highly corrosive ray capable of completely melting a target.

Its power was quite impressive.

Of course, that went without saying. In truth, all offensive Secret Skills were impressively powerful, because the strength of a Secret Skill was directly correlated to the amount of Dimensional Magic Power it drew upon. Therefore, Secret Skills only had a learning difficulty, not a power rating.

For now, the Saint Master had only managed to learn the Secret Skill. Its proficiency was still too low to draw out and devour the power of a Dimensional Demon God.

But that was just a matter of patient effort; more practice was all it needed.

The truly troublesome part was the other aspect of his research—creating his own Secret Skills.

The essence of a Secret Skill was to borrow Magic Power from a Dimensional Demon God, and a Demon God’s power, in turn, originated from a Dimension. Therefore, Isaac, who possessed his own Dimension, had met the prerequisite for creating his own Secret Skills, even if he was still far weaker than a Demon God.

Isaac had this idea for a long time, but he’d never had the opportunity to begin his research until now.

After all, developing his own Secret Skills offered many advantages. For one, he would no longer lack for offensive Magic. The reason his Infinite Magic Power had a limited number of uses wasn’t because supplying him with energy would damage the Dimension World—I mean, how much Magic Power could he possibly use?

The Dimension World was damaged because the Real World and the Dimension World were never meant to make direct contact; they naturally repelled each other. That’s why there was a time limit each time the link to the Dimension World was opened.

While more powerful Dimension Worlds also generated strong repulsion, their own strength was great enough to withstand it, allowing them to be opened frequently.

But Isaac’s Dimension was still very weak. Using Infinite Magic Power required not only opening the Dimension World but also forcibly channeling its power into his body. The cost of doing so was naturally much greater.

Secret Skills, however, were different. They were developed by the Dimensional Demon Gods using the interplay between the Real World and the Dimension World, making them a power that operated within the established rules.

Therefore, if Isaac had his own Secret Skills, it would be like having specific spells he could cast with Infinite Magic Power. His strength would inevitably rise to a whole new level!

Furthermore, like other Demon Gods, Isaac could cultivate his own Secret Mages. While establishing his own faction, he could also put his Dimension World on the right track to development, just as they did, giving it another avenue for growth.
