Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Isaac first read the Evil Power Encyclopedia. To wield the power of Demons, one must first understand what it was capable of, its underlying principles, how to counter Evil Energy, and how to halt its plague-like spread.

Only by understanding these things could he earn the right to use Evil Energy.

’Using it without knowing a thing, like those Black Orcs did, is the height of stupidity!’

And the results were just as expected. Every Black Orc who dabbled in Evil Energy ultimately underwent Demonization. While their power increased dramatically as a result, this was by no means a good thing.

For example, during that clash, the Black Orc High Priest had sacrificed his Demonized brethren to the Demons in exchange for greater power. In truth, many of the Black Orcs had been killed by their own kind.

This was a major drawback of Demonization. Demons possessed a strict hierarchy where Upper Position Demons could exert nearly absolute control over Lower Position ones.

This was especially true for creatures that had just begun the process—they couldn’t even be considered true Demons. They were the lowest of the low, completely expendable.

From Isaac’s current perspective, even if they hadn’t been sacrificed by the High Priest, few of those Demonized Black Orcs would have ever become true Demons. It was highly likely they would have been devoured by other Demons along the way.

That was why Isaac wasn’t rushing to channel the power of Evil Energy. Instead, he first pored over the Evil Power Encyclopedia, reading it carefully and repeatedly.

「Three days passed in the blink of an eye.」

For those three days, Isaac was completely immersed in the Evil Power Encyclopedia, focusing his studies on various methods for defending against Evil Energy. He was now confident he could handle it.

The next step was to study the Demon Contract: Apprentice Chapter. Only after mastering it would he attempt to summon Evil Energy.

On this day, however, Isaac unusually did not head to the laboratory to study. Instead, he sat in the council chamber, reviewing an experimental report from Liu Li while he waited for someone.

At noon, a flash of Arcane Radiance lit up Isaac’s council chamber. His eldest sister, Cheryl, clad in a white robe, emerged from the light and gazed at him with a complex expression.

Isaac met her gaze calmly. He felt no guilt for killing his second brother, Remington. He had given the man more than enough chances.

It came down to the same point: the only reason Isaac had emerged unscathed wasn’t because the Eldest Princess and Remington had shown mercy, but because he himself was more cunning. ’Otherwise, Remington would have taken Shushu and sacrificed her to Philo.’

’Extracting the Divinity Network from a Divine Species... How is that any different from carving out a Venerable Bone?’

’I couldn’t kill the Eldest Princess, but you think I couldn’t kill *you*?’

So, Isaac had nothing more to say about Remington’s death.

But it was still fratricide. He hadn’t struck first, but he had dealt the fatal blow. Thus, facing his family—especially Caesar—made him somewhat apprehensive.

If he hadn’t been in such urgent need to offload this batch of Alchemy Materials, he wouldn’t have even contacted his eldest sister.

Cheryl understood this as well. With a sigh, she pushed the matter to the back of her mind. Business came first.

"Let’s go. First, show me what you have," Cheryl said, schooling her emotions into a calm expression.

"Alright." Isaac nodded. The siblings exchanged few words as they walked outside together.

Behind them, Smith sighed softly. The impact of Remington’s death was clearly significant. While Cheryl didn’t value family ties as much as Caesar, Remington was still her little brother, one she had watched grow up. It was impossible for her to feel nothing.

"Sigh..." Smith sighed again. In truth, he agreed with what Isaac had done. From a strict, objective standpoint, that had been Remington’s third attempt on Isaac’s life. As the saying goes, three strikes and you’re out. Killing him had been the right move.

Otherwise, who knew what trouble he would have caused in the future?

Liu Li glanced at the sighing old man beside her, a dangerous glint flickering deep in her eyes. ’If this old man dares to stand against Lord Isaac,’ she thought, ’I will strike him down without hesitation!’

And so, the group, each lost in their own thoughts, arrived at the training grounds before the castle. Isaac had already dismissed the Guard Team. The twenty-one men had taken their Blood Essence Potions and left the castle, heading to the nearest town to report for duty.

Isaac hadn’t forced them to drink the potions. Not all of them could break through to the rank of Knight just by consuming one; some needed more training, while others had no hope of ever making it.

A few were even talented enough to break through on their own.

So, Isaac had simply given them the Magic Potions. What they did with them was their own business. Whether they sold them, gave them away, or saved them for their children, he would not interfere.

And it was unlikely anyone would dare to lay a hand on the gifts he had given, since the men were returning to serve in Solomon’s army.

Thus, after their departure, Isaac’s training ground had fallen empty. Smith was long past the age for training, and Liu Li, being a Demon and not a human, didn’t need to practice constantly to maintain her power.

That was why the area was now piled high with the massive quantity of Golem Remains that Isaac had brought out from the Dimension World.

Staring at the mountain of Golem Remains before her, Cheryl’s eyes darkened. Only now did she viscerally understand the kind of enemy Isaac had faced in Philis Town.

The pile of Golem Remains before her was only a little over thirty cubic meters, but the vast majority of it consisted of Golem Cores!

Only a small fraction was other metals.

She gave the pile a quick assessment. There were remains from over three hundred Obsidian Golems, which must have been the main fighting force. Although there was also a massive Advanced Core, someone at the Eldest Princess’s skill level would be completely incapable of controlling a Golem of that grade.

As an Arcanist who specialized in Golems—and one on the verge of advancing in rank—she was an authority on the subject.

Therefore, while the behemoth with the Advanced Core seemed the strongest, it actually posed less of a threat than the swarm of Obsidian Golems. Isaac must have used some method to bypass its defenses and destroy it from the inside. The most difficult part would have been the physical effort of smashing it; it posed no real threat.

But even just the three hundred-odd Obsidian Golems were enough to make her furious.

’It seems that because my brother and I have been focused on our domain’s internal affairs these past few years, some people have forgotten the power of Solomon!’

’This isn’t over!’

Tucking the thought away, Cheryl circled the pile of Golem Remains a few times, roughly calculating its value.

"This is a bit tricky," she said. "The materials are excellent, but the domain may not be able to afford them right now."
