The sixth node was Drevenmoor.
The deepest wound.
Mira’s data showed it approaching the threshold, and the approach was different from the others.
Drevenmoor is climbing toward the threshold, but the climb is — heavier than the others. A pause. Every other node territory climbed cleanly once the community-level expression began approaching. Drevenmoor is climbing through something. The deepest wound’s residue. The position held the most pain for the longest duration. The climb to the node is climbing through all of it. Another pause. The community is doing the work. The climb is happening. But it’s the hardest climb of the six. Another pause. The deepest wound becoming the deepest node is not easy. Another pause. Vael held this position. You might want to be there for the crossing. Another pause. And you might want to bring Vael.
He read the data.
Drevenmoor climbing through the wound’s residue.
The deepest wound becoming the deepest node.
The hardest climb.
He went to find Vael.
Vael was in the archive with Lyr.
The two ancient presences — the one who had held the wound, the one who had kept the coal.
"Drevenmoor is approaching the node threshold," he said. "The climb is the hardest of the six. Climbing through the wound’s residue." He paused. "Mira thinks you should be there for the crossing." He paused. "I think so too." He paused. "You held the position for the full duration of the withdrawal. The position is becoming a node. You should be there when it crosses."
Vael was quiet for a long time.
"I haven’t been back to Drevenmoor," Vael said. "Since the correction work resolved the wound." They paused. "I held the wound for the full withdrawal. When the correction work arrived and the healing began, I — left. I came here. To the archive. To work with Lyr." They paused. "I didn’t want to be in Drevenmoor as it healed." They paused. "I had been in the wound too long." They paused. "I needed to not be in it anymore." They paused. "I haven’t been back."
He looked at Vael.
At the holder who had held the deepest wound and then needed to leave it.
"The healing is complete," he said. "Drevenmoor is approaching the node threshold. It’s not the wound anymore. It’s becoming one of the twelve points of the between-space’s self-awareness." He paused. "The position you held through the worst of it is becoming the position of the deepest awareness." He paused. "You don’t have to go." He paused. "But the crossing is — the wound you held becoming the node. The pain becoming the awareness." He paused. "It might be worth being there for." He paused. "To see what the holding produced." He paused. "After."
Vael looked at Lyr.
Lyr, the coal keeper, who had kept the coal through the same duration Vael had held the wound.
"Go," Lyr said. "I kept the coal and I went back to my community to see what the keeping produced. The community-level expression. The coal recognized." They paused. "You held the wound. You should see what the holding produced." They paused. "The deepest wound becoming the deepest node." They paused. "That’s what the holding was for." They paused. "Go see it." They paused. "I’ll come with you if you want."
Vael was quiet.
Then: "Yes." A pause. "I’ll go." Another pause. "Lyr comes." Another pause. "And Kael." Another pause. "I held the wound. I’m not sure I can hold the crossing alone."
"You won’t be alone," Kael said.
They went to Drevenmoor.
The territory was different from what Vael remembered.
Vael said so as they crossed into it.
"When I left, it was — the wound healing but still raw. The correction work running. The residue everywhere." Vael looked at the territory. "Now — " they stopped.
The between-space quality in Drevenmoor was climbing toward the node threshold.
But underneath the climb, present in the territory’s deep architecture, was the residue of the deepest wound.
The position that had held the most pain for the longest duration.
The healing complete.
The residue remaining — not as active wound, but as the deep memory of the wound in the territory’s between-space structure.
The deepest wound’s scar.
And the community climbing through it toward the node.
Vael felt it.
"The residue," Vael said. "I can feel it. The wound I held. The memory of it in the territory." They paused. "I held this for the full withdrawal." They paused. "I can feel exactly what I held." They paused. "It’s — " they stopped. "It’s a lot." They paused. "It was a lot to hold." They paused. "I didn’t let myself feel how much, while I was holding it." They paused. "You can’t feel how much while you’re holding it. You’d be crushed." They paused. "I’m feeling it now." They paused. "How much it was."
Kael stood with Vael.
At the holder feeling, finally, how much the holding had been.
Lyr stood on Vael’s other side.
The coal keeper present with the wound holder.
"You held it," Lyr said. "All of it. For all of them. For the whole duration." They paused. "And you didn’t let yourself feel how much because you couldn’t, while you were holding it." They paused. "Now you can." They paused. "Feel it now." They paused. "We’re here." They paused. "You don’t have to hold it anymore." They paused. "You can feel how much it was." They paused. "And let it be felt." They paused. "Finally."
Vael felt it.
The full weight of what the holding had been.
The deepest wound held for the full duration of the withdrawal.
All the pain of the position.
Felt, finally, now that it no longer had to be held.
Vael didn’t weep — Vael was too ancient for weeping in the way a person weeps. But something in the ancient presence released. The weight held for the full duration finally felt and finally released.
And as Vael felt it and released it — the territory’s climb toward the node accelerated.
Mira’s data, relayed through the correspondence chains, confirmed it.
Drevenmoor’s climb just accelerated significantly. Something released. The residue is — integrating. Not disappearing. Integrating into the node’s quality. The wound’s memory becoming part of the node’s awareness. A pause. The deepest wound’s scar becoming the deepest node’s depth. Another pause. The pain integrating into the awareness. Another pause. That’s what was needed for the crossing. Another pause. The residue couldn’t integrate while it was being held at a distance. Vael holding it from the archive, from far away, kept it separate. Another pause. Vael feeling it, here, released it into integration. Another pause. The holder had to come back and feel it for the crossing to complete. Another pause. The wound becoming the node required the holder to feel what they held. Another pause. And let it integrate.
The holder feeling what they held.
Letting it integrate.
The wound becoming the node.
Kael stood with Vael as the territory climbed.
As the deepest wound’s residue integrated into the deepest node’s awareness.
As the pain became the depth.
Vael felt it integrate.
"The pain is becoming — part of the awareness," Vael said. "Not gone. Part of it." They paused. "The node’s awareness has the depth of the wound in it." They paused. "The deepest wound becoming the deepest awareness." They paused. "The pain I held becoming the depth of the between-space’s self-awareness at this position." They paused. "The holding produced this." They paused. "The pain becoming the depth." They paused. "That’s what the holding was for." They paused. "I held the pain so that someday it could become the depth." They paused. "I didn’t know that’s what I was doing." They paused. "I was just holding it." They paused. "Because someone had to." They paused. "Now I know what the holding was for." They paused. "The depth." They paused. "The deepest awareness." They paused. "Built from the deepest pain." They paused. "Held long enough." They paused. "By someone." They paused. "Until it could become the depth."
Drevenmoor crossed that evening.
The sixth node.
The deepest wound becoming the deepest node.
The pain integrated into the awareness.
The depth built from the holding.
Vael stood in the territory they had held and felt the node they had made.
Out of the pain.
By holding it.
Long enough.
His System pulsed.
[SIXTH NODE — DREVENMOOR — THE DEEPEST WOUND BECOMING THE DEEPEST NODE]
[VAEL — RETURNED — FELT WHAT THEY HELD]
[THE RESIDUE INTEGRATING — PAIN BECOMING DEPTH]
[NOTE: THE HOLDER HAD TO COME BACK AND FEEL IT FOR THE CROSSING TO COMPLETE.]
[NOTE: THE WOUND BECOMING THE NODE REQUIRED THE HOLDER TO FEEL WHAT THEY HELD.]
[NOTE: THE PAIN BECOMING THE DEPTH OF THE BETWEEN-SPACE’S AWARENESS.]
[NOTE: I HELD THE PAIN SO SOMEDAY IT COULD BECOME THE DEPTH.]
[NOTE: THE DEEPEST AWARENESS BUILT FROM THE DEEPEST PAIN.]
[NOTE: HELD LONG ENOUGH. BY SOMEONE. UNTIL IT COULD BECOME THE DEPTH.]
[NOTE: SIX OF TWELVE.]
[THE WORK CONTINUES.] 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Author’s Note: The sixth node — Drevenmoor, the deepest wound becoming the deepest node. Vael returns to the territory they held through the full withdrawal and finally feels how much the holding was — and the feeling releases the residue into integration. The crossing required the holder to feel what they held. The pain becomes the depth of the between-space’s awareness at this position. The deepest awareness built from the deepest pain, held long enough by someone until it could become the depth. Six of twelve. Drop a Power Stone! 🔥
